I had a hard time telling what I was looking at in some panels. But overall I found the chapter enjoyable. I thought that was Allen too or at least had to deal with him since it looked like his father in the beginning.
D. Gray-man Anime Adaptation!

When Kanda was fighting that akuma that almost got Johnny. That fight had some scenes that made me go "WTF!?"

Out a lot sonner than I thought it would be. Nice chapter I think…..little short compared to last chapter.
-
Come forth, almighty 14th!
-
Art is still "messy" as ever, by messy I mean…it is hard to follow...background and the characters are just too detailed. :(
At least the plot is moving forward now.
-
I've somehow forgotten about this a few chapters back around the climax with the Earl and Kanda facing his… companion guy. Worth getting back into? I seriously forgot about most of the plot and premises again.
-
Looks like Allen has been trying to contain the power of the 14th no wonder he doesn't want to get Kanda a d Johnny involved

Cross said he is destined to kill someone he loves….when he's the 14.

Latest chapter is out and holy crap! By the last page I'm betting the Earl and the Fourteenth are twins and that's why there wasn't originally an 14th Noah family member and why he wants to take over!
BTW, Link needs to not wear his uniform more often. He's quite hot! Especially with his hair down! WB Link!
-
The ending confused me, was that kid in the field Allen?
-
I'm thinking it's Nea because it reminded me instantly of the image the Earl saw him in a memory
!
Not the exact memory, but awful close to me. To me it would explain why the Earl is so hurt or troubled over the whole incident with the Fourteenth: twins tend to be way closer than regular siblings. Plus they can both control the arc and have the same swords only with inverted colors.
I don't know, maybe it's Mana that is the twin. The whole connection between those three has confused me since Nea seems to be the brother of both of them. I think I'll re-read a bunch of chapters.
-
I would reread this series but only in physical Copies. For some reason it's easier to reread stuff that way.
-
Now who allowed this thread to hibernate? Two new chapters have come out since, and I'm currently watching the awesome anime series! Up to episode 79 now!
-
Beacause this series deserves it. I actually stopped reading it like 3 chapters ago, I just don't care anymore.
Only series I ever dropped, how sad, I quite liked it before.

It still better than Ao no Exorcist.

Heh Ao no Exorcist is just boring for me, can't for the life of me see the appeal of it.
This is boring and a mess(almost on the same level as Air Gear minus the art, at least Air Gear was weekly so I could read it in a minute and be done).
-

I feel exactly the same. Its together with claymore the only one I really liked before but dont care anymore. And in contrast to claymore there are not even some major flaws or that things turned horribly wrong. Its just that DGM lost its appeal without me being able to say why. I will just give it a pause for one or two years.
-
Eh, I can say why. The pacing been pretty slow ever since the jump to monthy and it's difficult to get invested in the plot with those gaps. But most of all, most of the cast, characters like Krory, Lenalee, Miranda, Komui, Lavi, Bookman have all been jettisoned like the first stage of a rocket ever since the switch, in exchange for Mr. Stick-in-the-mud-who-should-be-dead Kanda and…Johnny, who despite being a background character has somehow wormed his way into the main cast and eclipse everyone else despite not really doing anything to deserve it. At least Kanda was a part of the main cast since the beginning.
This series just isn't very appealing or grabbing anymore.
-
Pacing is a problem with pretty much any monthly series. Your points are valid, but even if someone like Lenalee got more spotlight, I dont think I would start reading it again right now. I have not completly dropped it like Iceborg, I just dont have any interest at the moment.
-
I think it works better if you read several chapters at a time. I do think you have a point about the characters. It became focused on these things with Allen and his "internal struggle" with the 14th Noa and such. So now it has a lot of these flashbacks and sidetracking and such. As opposed to before, when it was a lot more of a battle manga with clear goals. Which can make it confusing or less interesting. I've lost track of a few things, I'll probably go back and reread this arc once it's done. I think when it feels focused, this manga does best.
-
I forgot about this manga lol. I like Kanda, Miranda and Krory, but I don't like Allen, the plot with the 14th I'm confused about. It was weird, but I don't typically lose total interest in manga. I mean I still read Bleach and Naruto, I finished Air Gear. I can't quite pin point why I just don't feel like reading it. Maybe I'll go back and finish it if this ends. I think Tower of God is the only other series I just flat out dropped after reading it for so long.
-
Anyone remember this?
-
I gotta agree with IceBorg. D. Gray-man has just not been good lately. Sure little things like Link coming back are nice, but it's just so dull and uninteresting and completely lacking in any charm it once had. The most recent chapter was so poorly translated that I almost didn't even care that I was missing out on important info. I was actually prepared to drop it if this past chapter didn't at least progress the plot some (because the past several have not), which since it did I gave it another chance. Maybe I'll just hiatus and read it by arc completion for the sake of still somewhat enjoying this series.
I have say though, this arc is just terrible. I was hoping after how last arc ended Allen would go for some training and be able to better control his outbursts, cloak himself from the akuma, and things that would actually benefit him in his time away from the black order. Instead what do we have? Worse control than when he left, apocryphos still staying close to him, and our main character staying silent the whole time with continuous focus on Johnny, which let me tell you is just thrilling. For an arc that should've been finding Allen and addressing his central conflicts, they've found him and sat in a room with him, and he's proven that he's done nothing in his time away from the order. Maybe I was just expecting something better, but with the premise of this arc I certainly wasn't expecting something this dull.
At least Kanda's stayed consistent with his character, thank goodness since we never see any of the other ones we actually like :P

So, there's this new chapter out, and by the looks of the numbers of pages is very likely a weekly chapter, in other words we waited like 2 months for this, I think.
And its gets worse cause there's no new chapter next month, not that like 99 percent of the members of this forums cares about this manga anymore.
BTW did Jump Square became bimonthly or something like that? It will be like this for 2 months now? This sucks. D.gray-Man was better when it was weekly.
Weekly>>>Monthly. -
The manga series is rotting, my own personal view of it.
Too bad TIMCAMPY is in a pinch…one of a few characters keeping this series afloat.
-
Whilst I don't know or really care what is going on in the series currently, I am pretty happy the Earl has his old design back. It's like a relic of a time when the series had a cool style and promise to it.
-
i rly like tim. also i have no idea whats going on anymore between the art style and the poor translations but awww…timmmmm
-
Is this series even close to over?
-
Is this series even close to over?
No idea. The series never seems to have a goal set in mind really so it can just continue to add plots until Hoshino feels like stopping.
-
This series needs to go back to weekly.
-
they're just going to leave tim there wtf. somebody do something!
-
I thought I was retarded in thinking my liking of DGM was dropping, until I read the posts in this thread. I don't really care for this Johhny fellow and I actually have trouble keeping in my head what's actually happening in the manga. I have no complaints about the art though, more the seemingly confusing plot. It's the finer details I'm struggling with.

New Chapter Out apparently. Rejoice, for this is rich in plot development!

I feel the same, all the chapters are freaking weird and confusing, I loved D Gray Man, it was one of my favourite series from jump back when it was weekly, I specially liked the art style but maybe I have to reread everything or something but everythging seems confusing now.
-
I had dropped this a long time ago, but planned to pick it up once its completed.
So, does anyone know if this series is close to ending, or anything from the mangaka hinting how long its going to go on ??
-
i just started this series a few days ago. It seems alright so far. I thought that it ended a while ago but i guess not. I just finished the rewinding town arc and i find the noah's arc references amusing. I also like that all the characters are from varying nationalities, something you don't see much.

We regret to inform you all that Ms. Hoshino's illness has drastically progressed and the D. Gray Man comic will regrettably have to be removed from the Jump SQ lineup. We and Ms. Hoshino would like to thank all of the fans of the D. Gray Man comic for all your years of enjoying this series and we wish Ms. Hoshino well on her personal recovery and future life endeavors.
-
Fuck I didn't like the series anymore and stopped reading it some time ago, but this kinda stuff sucks :(
I hope she gets better and beats this thing. But man she pulled years of work on this series and this is how it ends? First it was that whole drama about stealing stuff from other series and now this….I feel really bad for the fans of this series. and of course her with this disease thing.
-
So is the series cancelled or put on hiatus?

So is the series cancelled or put on hiatus?
What does it sound like? Of course it is cancelled. They wouldn't say this if it were on haitus. Heck, imagine if Togashi had to write "Thank you for supporting my serie" over and over for each time he took a break. That would be a laugh.
-
It's always very saddening to hear this kind of news :'(
-
typical. I just finished the series not a month ago. Well that sucks man. I hope she gets better and maybe she can wrap it up some other way? One that isn't to stressful

I support the author's fight against her illness but this series has been garbage and incomprehensible for years now so i'm not really sad to see it go.
