Your internet ego or what you see is what you get?

Well, I've noticed I've developed a different persona when I post online. It's not something I conciously do, but I seem to be in a lot of ways, a different person (for the most part) online than I am in real life. I notice that I have a tendency to unintentionally (and some times on purpose) rub people the wrong way.

On the other hand, maybe my online form is just another part of my personality that I've tapped into unknowingly. Maybe my GDL ego is my inner Sakura (or maybe not).

Cuz as of now, my internet persona has permanently become part of my real personality, so I guess I am that guy now.

So, is your online ego pretty much you, or is there more than meets the eye? I'd say I'm half and half.

As I've become older my ego is pretty much the same. At first, it wasn't. I've become more "opinionated" in real life which influences that on here. I guess.

Yeah I've kinda noticed that thanks to Arlong Park I've become a bit more…I dunno, maybe more aggresive or assertive. I used to be more laid back or apathetic towards to what people say, but now I have developed this assertiveness that either draws people to me or lures people away.

But thanks to all of these topics and debates about One Piece I can say that I'm ready for those annoying Socratic Seminars in english

That's kinda what happened to me although it was a combination of NF and AP.

The positive side of posting here is that I've became more outspoken, agressive, yet humble (from posting at AP) and a bit of a wise-ass in real life (from posting at NF). That and I got over my fear of posting on public forums.

I made this thread cuz I'm actually curious about my AP peers lives and also as a way of self-critique.

Anyways, the only thing I hate of APForums is that I have to compress my ideas to fit them in english. It's just that I feel pointless to write way too much when I know that the "feeling" wouldn't be the same.

In real life I am not really outspoken and kind of quiet, only really talk a lot with people I'm close to and known for a while.

I would say I'm more outspoken online because I can clearly convey my feelings with no consequences, but that is slowly slipping into my real life personality.

I'm kind of a bitter asshole in both, but in real life I'm ridiculously shy around a lot of people and really emotional most of the time and afraid of hurting people's feelings. Online, uh… I guess I don't care so much because it's easier to avoid people you have a bad relationship with if you don't actually have to see them.

I'd like to think that here I'm pretty nice with a bit of a sarcastic side. I'm practically the same in real life anyway. I don't really see a point in acting differently no matter how you're speaking with someone.

Although my friends sometimes say when I speak to people I intimidate others around me, not in the typical sense mind you. They say that when I speak kindly to someone it gives off a bit of a frightening vibe. I don't really know what they mean by that.

I used to be really shy, but since I went to college, I started being more social. And when I took the 3D Modeling class, it was required to post in a forum, it was my first experience with that, so it was interesting… I used to take it personal when people wouldn't respond to my comments...

As for now, in real life, I'm not quite as random, until I am very comfortable with someone or a group of people. I'm still a perv, in fact, it gets even worse when I am drunk, lol (Been told I'm a hilarious drunk, lolz)
On here I tend to be... a bit more of a smartass when I want to be. Or more straight forward with my opinions.

I'm not considered a jerk at AP, I was referring to real life with my previous comment . I'm only a jerk about 20 percent of the time on AP, and about 99 percent at NF.

I think most internet ego comes from just other people's willingness to flamewar. What I mean its, flamewars are damn fun, but in reality, if you want to try some sort of debate like that, then you'll never get the same reaction; people will just think you're an asshole. Which is a real shame for me, since I love to flame (but not on AP,mind you).
