This game looks…very disappointing to say the least. I'm getting flashbacks to the post-PS1 Spyro games here.
Does anyone even care about a series whose last real game came out during the Clinton administration?

Ummm yes otherwise there wouldn't be a thread on the upcoming sequel.
am i the only one who thinks this looks really gay
Did you see Banjo Kazooie 1 and/or 2
@Sandai:
And that's the thing fanboys tend to have a problem accepting, look at Deus Ex 2.
Except that's a case where the fanboys consternation was entirely well-founded: nothing was actually improved (aside from graphics), only degraded. Smaller and simpler environments, less complex game system, "factional" gameplay that was actually pointless because regardless of which side you "chose" you could still do all the missions for the other sides anyway, etc etc etc. Unless to you, "not being like previous games" means NOT being a kick-ass game.

yeah, i only got half way through the first one
i still think this looks very gay

No that's my point, it shouldn't be a surprise.
I like collect-a-thons so as long as there are plenty of things to get I'll end up liking this game at the very least. Plus the locations needs to be really huge, that'd be good in my book; probably a little bigger than that Dinosaur level in Banjo Tooie.

This game isn't really a collect-a-thon unless you want all the vehicle parts. RARE said that today's gamers don't like collecting items so they reduced the amount greatly (music notes are only currency, no mention of needing to collect Jinjos, only jiggys need collected).
The Giant T.I.T. Idea could be plausible seeing as they're going for the adult humor such as "Mumbo's Nuts". Let's hope this isn't another Conker.
Why not another Conker? That was a great game. (Unless you're suggesting that a Mature rating would somehow "kill" the game marketing and sales-wise.)
But damn. Looks like I need to get a 360 for this, and for Resident Evil 5 of course.
I personally am not really digging this new direction they're going in.
I'll just leave it at that.

Thank you, Carter. I can honestly say you're probably one of the few reasons I bother staying active at AP.
But onto BK3, I don't like it. When I expected a Banjo-Kazooie three-quel, I expected an epic return to their platforming roots and maybe just a little of that magic that got me hooked the first time I played the original B-K. This looks like the Gummi Ship minigame from Kingdom Hearts had sex with Rachet and Clank, and had a very ugly baby that forever smelled like Nabisco crackers.
I've done the "build a craft" gimmick in many other games. I didn't like it then, and I don't like it being 80% of this game's gameplay. I'm also sure I'm not alone in my distaste for Banjo/Kazooie's "New Look". Jesus Crisco, Banjo went from Bug-Eyed to Beady-Eyed in nothing flat. I would've looked past that if the game was fun, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.
So yeah, think I'll pass on this one.

How could it return to something it never left from?

Wait for a playable demo on before ruling it out completely.
I'm sure it'll be fun, but seriously, what's the point? It's like they're trying to be different just for the sake of being different. This would've made for a great seperate series but I'd rather an established series evolve then try to come up with seperate ideas. I'm all for trying new things but this seems pointless.
Looks awesome, a nice throwback game for sure. Definitely gonna pick this up along with Gears 2 and Ghostbusters this fall.
after watching the trailer, I'm going to have to go with an okay on the game. While it might not be a copy of the originals, as long as I can get some platforming in there I'm sold. Plus, looking at the game from another aspect, the constructing should be fun to say the least.
Though I am disappointed that took out the collecting factor (besides machine parts). I always loved doing that

I don't? Really? Good thing Rare is there to tell me what I think otherwise I might get confused.
…new info...
“Mmm…I would say around 80% vehicles, but just a rough guess.
“Banjo gets in and out of the vehicles all the time, but the travelling is done in the vehicles. A lot of the tasks require Banjo to get out and either do something to the vehicles, put something in the vehicles and so on. So you aren’t in them all the time, but once you play the game and realise the freedom the vehicles have you will forget that they are vehicles and simply a different way of having abilities, albeit ones that you choose and combine.”I dunno about anyone else, but I usually don't think of vehicles when I think of "platformer".
I get what they're doing. I think the trailer makes the point they make in Runa's post quite clear too. They're really part of the level. It's like giving Kazooie's moves to giant metal things. They make an excellent point and it does look fun dicking around in giant arenas with them.
Here's the thing though.
Who thought it would be a fuckin' brilliant innovation to take the single-most annoying aspect of Kingdom Hearts (even more than the tween homosexual angst) and build a goddamn game around it?
Was this posted here before-

If this is real (since it is, you know, kotaku, and they are not very reliable) then we shouldn't expect a Banjo-Threeie :(
I love the originals so much that I actually considered buying the cheapest 360 I could find to play the third…(which is a leap for me since I own every other system, BK is the only 360 exclusive I like) I hate that they changed it from a platformer into some sort of lego racer hybrid thing that I don't want to begin to understand...but at least I don't have to worry about missing out on a real Banjo game..
yet if they had just made an HD banjo Kazooie EVERYONE would be criticizing them for rehashing and not being original…
have faithe and watch more videos of it
Well, I reserved my copy on Amazon yesterday. Gonna definitely give this game a chance since the original two were beyond badass. Plus, I can download the original Banjo for free in a few weeks now.
So, let me get this straight: if I preorder this $40 game, I get a $15 XBLA port of an N64 classic for free? Holy smoke; if "Threeie" is anywhere near as good as Tooie then this is the best bargain since The Orange Box. I'm not kidding.

Hell yeah man! That's the way I'm looking at it really. It's only through certain outlets though. I know GameStop and Amazon were listed but I've only once gotten my freebie from GameStop out of the many advertised freebies I've expected (it was a cool DBZ shirt so I can't complain). Amazon is great for them though, they said you would receive an e-mail with the code to download Banjo 1 when it becomes available.
Now all we need is another battletoads remake…
Another:wassat:?
Since no one else posted it or might not be aware the demo is on Live at 1.1 GB.
Yeah, I tried it. Not bad at all but it didn't rock my world. I was never a Banjo fan, though. So I'm not going to get it right away but count me in if it gets good reviews.
This is totally off topic but Tomb Raider's demo was surprisingly fun. It left me, uh, lusting more.
