Maybe Robin and Foxy?
Y'know, if Viz had just gone a little faster, they could've had Robin as All Sunday.

i think robin well stay since croc well be there then robin should stay. i think for sure foxy and aokiji do you think mihawk is the third or shanks or maybe AHA i got it Eneru
1.Aokiji
2.Foxy
3.Eneru
Hm, instead of having Croc and them, they'll probably just retool it to have Tashigi and Alvida.
will that may happen but EGX said all but 3 missing, didnt say someone is changed to another character
Some article on Animenewsnetwork.com has something on Bandai games being promoted at E3. Title One Piece: Grand Battle for PS2 and GCN. 16 fighters, two player and a tournament, sounds abit like a remake to me. After all remember the Super Mario Advance GBA games, they're remakes with better graphics. Also are you abit curious about the GBA game? It said it was a side scrolling adventure with Luffy and fighting 12 bosses in the game.
GBA Grand Battle Rush??? Is a new OP game coming for GBA or are they talking about Dragon Dream?

It's a given. Crocodile is a huge spoiler.

According to BandaiGames.com, it's a action/platformer, and I think it's going to be made exclusively for the US audience. Though…12 pirates? Does that include crewmates?

I think they don't really mean 16. you know, befoe you unlock Aokiji/Eneru (I forgot), he doesn't have a "?", but when you do, the characters ont he left of him, (Mihawk and Shanks) get to have their question marks.
So I'm trying to say that maybe they are extra-secret characters so they purposely didn't mention them.
maby they will take out afro luffy foxy and aokiji
Like I say before; I wish Bamdai just dub the Japanese One Piece game
Cool. I hope they decide to release this game in the UK (though at the moment I can't say I can see much chance of this happening <_<).
Ign has screenshots of the new GBA One Piece game… looks like a side scroller. Is there a side scrolling One Piece GBA game in Japan?
Also screens of One Piece Grand Battle for the U.S. but no proof of whether Davy Back will be cut, since it's just the screens from Jump.

Agreed.
Anyway I quite like the look of the screens. Though it's probably doubtful, I hope this game gets a UK release.
Wait, hold up, hit the brakes, URRRRRT, and such…
Maybe I missed something, but where was it said that the game is gonna be altered (and, god forbid, dubbed) to compensate the 4Kids dub? I saw folks say this, but seemed to miss where this was actually coraborated.
Did I miss something?
IGN has E3 pics.. And in one I of them I clearly read Marine and not Navy. This could be a good sign.. I hope.
Those pictures were from the Japanese version. Look at the Sanji blurb with Japanese text.

A long time ago, before this board reset, EGX had a clip of what seemed to be an English version of GB Rush. No characters were shown beyond Arlong, and Zoro was named "Zolo" under his hit meter. I think I still have it, if you're interested.

The ones with the japanese text…. look at the dates those images were uploaded.
Sort of redundant, but gametrailers has the e3 trailer of this game. Bandai still says 16 characters, footage is from the Japanese game (has kanji/katakata whatever used for names, etc.) but it only shows East Blue enemies, as well as Zoro, Luffy, and Nami (no footage of Ussop or Sanji). However, it DOES talk about 4kids, so I'm guessing it's under their watchful eyes…
I emailed Bandai to get the final word on the contents, but I haven't received a reply yet. I'm guessing that'll finally put a nail in the coffin as to whether this is a direct port, or a 4kids bastardization of a perfectly decent anime fighter.
Good luck with that. Game companies rarely ever answer e-mails about upcoming games.

Good point. But their new trailer uses the Japanese version, so they could've just used it for the screens as well.

one piece GBA!
(i know i already posted these links in the wrong thread, i just want people to watch the sreencaps if they hadn't already)
I'll probably pick this up if they don't mess with it too much.
I can't help but think the only reason we haven't seen Sanji yet is because of the whole cigerette deal. It hurts me to think they'll probably be editing in a lolipop for this game.
A few things:
1st the release is sometime in September… so it'll be awhile before this game is finished.
2nd, supposedly there are 7 arenas, how many are there in Combat Rush? Off the top of my head I know:
Skypeia Stage
Rogue Town Stage
Ussop's Village
Baratie
Drum Island
Arabasta
and... Arlong Park. Which is seven... but are there more?
On a similar note, Gamefaqs has this listed as the American version of Grand Battle 3, but that game doesn't look anything like Combat Rush (nor does it have the East Blue villiains.) So... I'd take that with a grain of salt.
Finally, still no word from bandai about whether it's going to be edited or not... I guess I'll stop following it and when it comes out, someone who bought it can fill us in as to what it does and does not have.
EDIT: I forgot, there are supposed to be some unlockable mini-games, which sorta hints at the Davy Back Fight. Plus there's some other unlockable stuff like "items, costumes" and something else I forgot.
All in all, it looks like a direct port...
Combat Rush got rid of Skypeia and Jaya.
The levels in Rush are:
Drum
Fuusha Village (Luffy's Village)
Arlong Park
Baratie
Alabasta
The Sexy Foxy
Logue Town
Maxim
Mariejois
that means they'll just get rid of one stage? Wierd..
At the behest of ocean, I'm registered simply to reply to this topic.
I went to E3 and played the new One Piece GC game being released in the US.
It's dubbed. I only counted about 11 or 12 playable characters, though I don't remember all of them. Chopper wasn't in it, and the furthest along character that I saw was Krieg.
The game played like most of the Grand Battle games, except they took out the FMV supers, and made the characters seem slightly more Super Deformed. I think they also took out some moves, and changed the animation and speed of certain techniques. I can't really speak for the original though, as I've never played Rush; only Grand Battle 2 & 3.
As somebody who's never before seen the US dubbed version of the anime, I can say that the voices were REALLY distracting. They don't fit at all, and detract from the general gameplay, because quite frankly I wanted to turn off the volume the entire time.
Personally, as a fan, it's not worth the money. Buy the import and look up translations for the on-screen text and VA. It's a better gaming experience.
NOOOOO!
Seems the game turned out worse than we hoped.
From Bandai themselves:
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in Bandai Games and One Piece.
To answer your question, One Piece: Grand Battle (U.S. version) will be
a
direct port of the Japanese One Piece: Grand Battle Rush product.
Thank you for your interest in Bandai Games and One Piece!
Best,

Subject: One Piece Grand Battle
I sent this question to customer support, but in
retrospect I believe that decision wasn't the best. So
I'm asking here, for a quick and prompt answer. At e3 this year, Bandai Games announced One Piece
Grand Battle for the Nintendo Gamecube and Sony
Playstation 2 Platforms. What I wish to know is
whether the game is a direct port of One Piece: Combat
Rush (the recently released Japanese title) as the
footage suggests, or will there be edited content
under guidelines outlined by the license holder, which
in this case would be 4kids entertainment?Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Believe what you want to believe... but Bandai themselves says the game is a direct port. If you want to ask about the voice dubbing, you can do it yourself. I couldn't care either, way... but with the gameplay intact I'll pick it up when it's released (for the right price, of course)./videogames@bandai.com
What a half assed answer. If Aokiji is in the game, I'll eat my left hand.

That's exactly what Rush is. There were never FMV supers btw
By "FMV Supers" he could've meant the level 2 supers.

Get out the silverware and say your grace then…
I was watching the Bandai booth tour thing, and they said they would add character(s) not available in the Japanese version of the "ZATCH BELL" game. Since they say this game has 16 characters (as opposed to Combat Rush's 15 characters, excusing the unlockables) what's the chance that we could see one new character added to the roster? Question is, who would it be?
Also, supposedly the game is 80-90% complete already so that Sept. Release date is unusual for a game, that seems like all it needs is some bug fixing, packaging and shipping. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
Demo in October issue of SJ
Sounds cool, but doesn't the game come out in September? Or even if it's November, it still seems a little too late. Oh well, I know that's one issue I'll buy.
I got an e-mail reply also.
"Hi Jason - I apologize for the confusion, here is the correct info.
Grand Battle Rush was initially developed as the first One Piece title for the US market and was supposed to only be released here. However, Bandai was so happy with how the game turned out, that we decided to release in Japan too. The only differences are that Rush (for Japan) contains 3 more playable characters, a few different support characters and Luffy has a couple of different costumes. The reasoning for that is because the Japanese TV series is much further ahead, they are able to use characters from later episodes. We are not allowed to use them for the US version.
I hope that answers your questions.
Kind regards

Fascinating.
… But, we're still getting the shaft.
Ah, well. Can't expect too much for now.
It's funny, because by September, there will still be 7 characters they aren't upto.

That explains why the first trailer for the game was in English… still, I'm kinda annoyed that my e-mail was so short and uninformative while yours was so specific. Oh well, 3 characters will most likely be Chopper, Robin and [take a guess]. Costumes would be Afro Luffy… but different support characters means either new (doubtful) or people with more than one having one taken and replacing another. (i.e. maybe Johhny will replace Luffy's dewgongs.)
Guess I better save up for the Japanese version. How much space does it take on a GC memory card?
i think the thre characters are Aokiji,Foxy,Eneru

Most likely. Also, Chopper appeared in dub ads before it aired here, so Chopper would probably be in it.
One piece Grand Battle Rush huh?
its not very good i still think that the grand batle was better
everyone is ther like crocodile and davy and robin and smoker and all the others :S
I don't game as much as I should; my PC Gamer sub ran out in 1999, so I'm pretty out of it, but can someone explain to me the appeal?
It looks like mortal kombat in cosplay. Now I can see that concept working for a "quick hit" game, like a java downloadable off of the 4kids website, but for the price of a full console game, I hope there's more to it than just battles. OP has a sense of exploration and discovery and growth, which generally don't mesh well with the classic fighting game.
I'd prefer to see OP either gamed as a RPG, or as a game like the old Pirates! games but with more directives to drive a cohesive plot.

I find this kind of funny.
"The games done? Can we have it now?"
"Screw you, we're takin it."

Hmmm, that's a fascinating bit. I can understand not wanting to but not being allowed to?? Hmmmm…..
Maybe the wigs in Japan are giving them the no.
But what's weird is, like EGX said, there are 7 characters we're guaranteed not to make it to, so why bother cutting only some?

Eh, shonen anime/manga just have fighters based on them. They're never perfect, but good distractions. There is an OP platformer out there, though.

That was probably the most interesting thing this whole thread. I always figured Bandai was milking the franchise and giving us the leftovers, but they really just made a tasty cake and took a bite out of it.
