Agreed. I still fail to see why they're even bothering with it as an ASJ title. I mean think of all the Naruto and Bleach they could show if they take it out.
I sort of wish Viz pulled what they did with Naruto and released multiple volumes a month to at least give One Piece a fighting chance… But no... Meh...
It would be wonderful, but such a privalige is reserved for the "good" series. Heck, Viz have said how Slam Dunk topped Bleach and Naruto in Japan, but no reference to One Piece being more popular.

Seriously, I'm not so needy that my emotional state is compromised by Joe Public not being into it. My Creative Writing teacher who is a big geek just like us all here dislikes One Piece (and sadly I always bring it up) but at least she can see why people like it.

That's… insane. They're actually going to one volume every 4 months. I've been afraid this would happen ever since they had 4 months between volume 18 and volume 19. To be honest, I'm hoping now that One Piece gets kicked out of the magazine after Alabasta. Then hopefully we can get one volume every 2 months, a much more bearable pace. The popularity bump gained from being in the magazine just isn't worth it anymore, not at one volume every 4 months.

I agree. I doubt many people read it anyway. And If they do, they can pay the extra couple bucks to buy the whole volume, not just one chapter.

They already have plans on taking out Slam Dunk by next year and replacing it with something else and they're really pushing that series to be a success. Meanwhile they've seen fit to drag Yu Yu Hakusho on for ever and publish one chapter of Bobobo a month. Their logic is just shit really, I'm trying not to make much sense of it anymore.

OP's biggest problem is that it's in a strange limbo: it's popular enough to stay in the magazine yet not popular enough to get more releases in a year. Considering Naruto essentially has a manga every two months while still running in a monthly magazine, it feels ludicrous what OP (and subsequently Bo-bobo) have to go through where they just are too popular to be kicked out (like Shaman King and Hikaru no Go) and not popular enough to go the Naruto route.

I spend my money on other things than One Piece. Just recently, I bought 4 volumes of D.Gray-man, the limited edition of Code Geass volume 1 and 2, South Park season 2 and some norwegian series that I assume none of you have ever heard of. But even so, I still think it sucks how ridicculously slow the release of the One Piece-manga is. At least FUNi is giving us 39 episodes a year, which if you include breaks and stuff into the equation, is about 10/11 months worth of episodes, whereas Viz's release is REALLY far behind, and only releases like, 26 chapters a year. I'd be happy with any increase in speed, though preferrably, we should get at least five volumes a year, not three.

Talk to me about Prince of Tennis, which had 50 episodes (out of 200+) released, and then was dropped. Also, the releases had the original openings and endings as 'extras'.
Talk to me about Digimon, which has never gotten a fucking uncut release, and is stuck with a dub that's on par with 4Kids One Piece dub.
Talk to me about Eyeshield 21, which only had a 5 episode dub, has an edited only manga release, and apparently sells like crap in the US.
One Piece fans don't realize how good they have it. Uncut releases with fairly high quality…maybe it's not the best release schedule ever, and maybe it should be more popular. But don't talk to me about it being 'treated like crap', when there's dozens of great anime out there that can't get a decent release to save its life.

Not quite. "Digimon the Movie" was awful, (though the third movie was awful in japanese too) but the TV-series at least kept the storyline more or less intact, and wasn't censored TOO much. True, the music was crap, the name-changes were pointless and the writing was extremely stupid, but it was nowhere near as bad as the 4Kids-dub of One Piece… Except "The Movie", which was actually three movies that had nothing with each other to do besides taking place in the same world with the same characters.
Oh, and apparently Toei is releasing the uncut, japanese version with english subs online, though I won't even consider that, as I don't feel like paying for a DOWNLOAD. If it's ever released on DVD though, I'll definitely buy it.
