So…what were your reactions when you heard Anakin go "If you're not with me...You're my enemy!" "Only Sith see the world in absolutes!". I was like "damn right! Bush hails to the dark side, i knew it all along!!! "
:P Just kidding, I don't wonna offend anyone here. But I thought it was an interesting quote nonethenless.
-
Not my showing. My friends. About 20 mins into it the track switched. I saw it again today. Some parts switched into mono…odd. I dont like the new droid voices, but the scene with Vaders mask makes me so happy everytime.
-
There's a Japanese track ? O_o; I don't think RotS is being released in Japan/SKorea for a while…
-
Apparantly there is one. Wish I heard it.
-
You weren't the one who heard it ? Then how could you make a judgment call on it ? :P People use expressions like that all the time. You know, 'sounds Greek to me' and so on and so forth.
I'm just kind of doubtful of it because if there WAS a Japanese dub for it already then why wouldn't they have grafted it on and had it released in Japan the other day (like, well, THE REST OF THE WORLD did) ?
-
Saw the movie for the 3rd time today!
One of the best parts was when Greivious exploded.
And the droids were very funny.
"Gah! My eyes!!!" -
.>
<.<NOOOOOOOOOOOO~~~!
No, seriously, I rather liked it, execpt for the single worst delivery of a pained scream of no I've ever heard.
-
It's coming out in Japan on July 9th.
So…what were your reactions when you heard Anakin go "If you're not with me...You're my enemy!" "Only Sith see the world in absolutes!". I was like "damn right! Bush hails to the dark side, i knew it all along!!! "
Yeah, I laughed my ass off….
BECAUSE OF THE HUGE PLOT HOLE IT MADE
"Do or do not, there is no try."
Nice try to be political Lucas.

Me and 'Oi Sanji' when to see it at 12:30 on the 19th. I thought the film was really really good. The bad thing about the film was that i kept drifting off!! AGH i missed a little bit when Obi-Wan was fighting Genral Gruivous. But apart from that I saw it all. What do you guys think of it?
I thought the ending was a bit abrupt though, it was good in one way but not in another, i was hoping to see Qui-Gon again but we didnt :(, seeing the Deathstar being constructed was really cool though!
-
He said it sounded Japanesse. Hell I wouldnt know if it was Japanesse or Chinesse. And I do know it was true. Half of my friends saw that showing and said the same thing. So if 10 people said it was Japanesse, it was Japanesse. Really pissed they took out three scenes- Little Han Solo, Mon Mothma and Bail talking about Rebellion, and Qui Gon talking to Yoda. Did I saw how much I hate the new droid voices?
-
oh man… i saw this movie last night and walked out of the theater laughing so hard. the action was good, but over all the action alone couldn't save the movie for me.
don't read if you haven't seen the movie, this has some spoilers in it
lucass was trying to hard to make everything fit together, and other parts i just started laughing at how bad some things were done. like how r2 was able to kill some of those big/tough droid things by setting them on fire... ON FIRE! i didn't know that they were made out of wood. also the lava waterfall was somthing that made me laugh out loud, with also anikin catching on fire after obiwan beat him. but the best/worst part was when darth vader pulled a frankenstien and ripped his way off the table (and apparrently forgot he had knees) so it looked like a bad monster movie, and just shouted in one of the most monitone voices ever "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
another thing that irked me was that duku and grevious were killed in the same movie. i mean grevious was a bad mother in the cartoon and duku was tough as well in the last movie, even yoda had a hard time fighting him, but... oh anikin just got him in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie. and grevious having a cold while fighting... not to mention the easy access to his heart and other internal organs.
and lastyly yoda hads good relations with the wookies? and he meet chewbaka? and the death star was so far along at the end of the movie? all in all, i'm not going to see this movie until it comes to dvd, if even then.
-
Mind you, Lucas said himself it was based off Frankenstein. And he is still getting used to his black prison.
Pic of young Han solo- Well sadly I'm glad it got cut. Look how old he is, compare to newborn Leia. Its Padme/ Anakin all over! -
Did anyone notice the Millenium Falcon in one of the early scenes in the movie?
It was when Anakin,Obi-wan and Palpatine were returning to the Senate.
Look closely at the lower right hand corner and you can see the Falcon flying there! -
Hah, a friend spotted that and told me after the movie. I was like "nah, I would've definitely spotted something like that. You must be mistaken." :P
-
I'm an odd ball, I guess. Episodes I, II, and III entertained me. I may have had my problems with them, and DUR. Of COURSE they're not going to be like the original trilogy, because 1) They're not ground breaking 2) They're made almost two decades after the first, in a different kind of Hollywood, with a different kind budget 3) They're two completely different sagas, about different kinds of heros and villains. I completely understand and respect people not liking them. But IMHO, those who were expecting them to live up to the old trilogy were setting themselves up. And the people who are saying "These movies don't count as Star Wars canon" just piss me off. Okay, so George Lucas writes fanfiction for his own concept, now? If you don't like it, don't watch it, but respect the fact that hey. Lucas DID make them, for good, or for bad, and he's no dummy. You might not like what he did, you might even loathe it, but the fact of the matter is, they're still Star Wars.
Me personally? I have always, always, ALWAYS been a diehard Obi-Wan fan. Before the new trilogy came out. To see my favorite character who played such a small role (especially since my favorite of the original three is Return of the Jedi) be a prominent character, played by an actor I love, and learn more about his back story - it just kicked so much ass. I loved every second of seeing him in action. So yes. I was entertained thoroughly through all three.
Does that mean I loved everything about the new ones? Of course not. There was stuff that drove me crazy. Example: In this last one, hearing James Earl Jones go "Where's Padme?" instead of "How may I serve you, my master." and his little fist shake and "NOOOOOO~OOOOO!" part just seemed utterly ridiculous. There was stuff I would have liked to have seen done differently, but hey. It's Lucas's movie. Not mine. Not the fans. His.
Did anyone else snigger at the "Good relations with the Wookies, I have." line?
-
I SO want to see Episode 3, Yet I'm just a bit pre-occupied with such important matters, as hanging out with my friends! Episode 1, I really didn't like it, Due to the fact that Jar Jar Binks RUINED the movie for me with his strange talking. The fight with Darth Maul was alright, but I really wasn't pleased with the way it turned out. Episode two I thought was pretty good, I can't remeber a whole lot of it but I can tell you that I liked it :P .
After viewing all the trailers and from what people tell me, I should see it next weekend.
-
Can't wait to see it again tommorow. I'll be looking for the Falcon, and what alien was George Lucas dressed up as?
-
not the best but much better then episodes 1 and 2.
-
most of you have probably seen this clip of Triumph the insult comic dog from the late late show with conan obrien, but i thought it was worth posting. this is from the screening of the second movie. btw, it's probably pg13.

Great movie, watch it! xDD because I gonna watch it again. The romance was really cheesy T_____T
-
ROFL, I've been looking for that. Thanks for posting it! I wish they'd do that at an anime con…although not all of us anime dorks are clueless about sex. We do watch enough hentai, you know XD
Although, I did see a flick called Bra Wars-...and I'll stop right there.
-
I got back from seeing this movie a few hours ago and it kicks alot of ass.
Whoever thought up the idea of General Grevious should get an award. Like "Best Cyborg Idea implented in a movie." You can't get better than wielding 4 lightsabers at the same time.
Obi Wan, Yoda and the Wookiees were awesome too. Some scenes, however, appeared to be made out of pure cheese, like most of the time when Anakin and Padme were together and of course, Anakin in his super-duper Oakland Raider's Helmet doing the "NOOOOOOO!" bit.
But aside from Lucas's weak point about doing romances and Jar Jar not dying, good ass movie.
-
I just got back from seeing it, and I really enjoyed it. The fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin at the end was great. Especially when Obi-Wan said, "Don't try it". Then Anakin tries and gets screwed over. Hilarious. I also thought Dooku's death was great, especially since I never liked Dooku in the first place.
The romance scenes were rather cheesy. But I find most romance scenes in Star Wars are really cheesy.
All in all, I really liked it.

Example: In this last one, hearing James Earl Jones go "Where's Padme?" instead of "How may I serve you, my master."I liked that bit myself; that was pretty much the only redeeming quality Anakin had left at that point and Palpatine effortlessly excised it in a way that would fill Vader with self-loathing and make him far more powerful than before.
and his little fist shake and "NOOOOOO~OOOOO!" part just seemed utterly ridiculous.
That really didn't bother me that much as it was entirely in the spirit of the old serials that inspired the series to begin with. The Frankenstein reference in the same scene didn't bother me for the same basic reason.
-
i think it should be time a SpOiLeR should be put at the title, i haven't watch it yet! ARghhh!!!

But aside from Lucas's weak point about doing romances
It was funny how many people were taking toilet breaks & candy bar runs during the Padme/Anakin scenes.
-
Something I've noticed that a lot of people didn't quite understand is why Anakin turned so quickly. I have to ask, what compelling reason was there for him to NOT turn?
No, seriously, why shouldn't it be that easy for him?
-
I have to ask, what compelling reason was there for him to NOT turn?
Because 2 minutes before that he was turning in Palpatine. He went from turning in Palpatine and going to save Windu to accepting an order to commit genocide and kill children in LITERALLY under 30 seconds.
That was too funny.
-
I kinda liked the movie. It was good at some point but please, somebody has to say lucas about the love scenes - they suck!
-
Ubig - That entire scene still sounded ridiculous to me. I realize he was doing it to bridge the Anakin-Vader gap, but the way it came off just made me want to laugh, instead of pulling on my heart strings. I feel there could have been better ways to do it, IMHO. (But as I said earlier…it's not that that matters, Lucas has his reasons.) I think what MADE it so funny was thinking of Vader in the original. But hey, that's just me. I'm glad someone liked it.
I think the one big disappointment I had with this movie was the fact that I didn't cry. Some bits came close, but I didn't. I was really thinking that I was going to do that coming out of this one, but it didn't. I'm not a very hard person to make cry, either!
But again. It's Star Wars. And I still liked it.
-
Ja Ja Binks also make an apperance a few times in the film.
The main part i can remember is a Padime's (i know its wrong) funeral, Episode one was on TV last night and it made me remeber. -
Was General Grevious seen in the movies before? I don't remember seeing a coughing Vader-sounding robot. But then, I totally forgot everything that happened in the first and second ones. ^_^
I saw it last night, and I thought it was really good. It was late (11-ish) and I had just worked, so of course I was freakin' tired, and I was about to pass out until it started getting interesting halfway through when the jedi started getting killed. My friend was bawling like a freakin' baby, I was like "Are you okay?". She cried at the most awkward of parts, too, like just the fight scene between Anakin and Obi Wan. I must admit, the scene where the younglings ask Anakin what they should do only to have him bring out his lightsaber (the look on the main kid's face) was kinda heart-wrenching. And when Padme was talking to Anakin and he saw Obi-Wan and thought she betrayed him, choking her. It was so unexpected, I was just like :o! Padme's ending was rather lame, though. I always thought she was going to get killed by someone. And jesus christ, the guy at the end when Vader and the Emperor were standing there (the guy from episode 4 that controlled the death star) had an UNCANNY resemblance to the original actor from Star Wars. I was like omg! He's still alive and dyed his hair?!
I have another question, though. So, are all the storm troopers from then on clones of Jango Fett? That's odd. And random tidbit: the bald chick that was seen with the emperor in a few scenes had the best design EVER. And jeez she could give fowl looks.

Because 2 minutes before that he was turning in Palpatine. And what good did that do him?
He did the right thing and the response from Mace Windu was "if this is true, then I'll trust you." No pat on the back, no thanks, nothing but a reminder that the Jedi don't trust him and never had.
If he's right and Palpatine is a Sith Lord, then it's only a matter of time until somebody begins to wonder how much influence Palpatine had on him. How do the Jedi know he's not a Sith Apprentice who simply turned Palpatine in to get him out of the way?
If he's right, but Palpatine manages to fake his way out of it, then Windu thinks he just made it up and he has made a very powerful enemy because he tried to turn a Sith Master in.
If he's wrong, then Windu thinks he just made the whole thing up and he's in even more trouble than before. Except for Obi-Wan, the Council doesn't like him and didn't even want him to be trained in the first place.
Even if he's right and Windu kills Sidious, what good does that do him?
The Jedi have given him a set notion of what the Sith are supposed to be like, which Palpatine doesn't match. He's much more of a father figure for Anakin than Obi-Wan is and is much more helpful to him than the Jedi ever were.
For instance, when Anakin asks Yoda a specific question about a vision (and the last time he had such a vision it came true), he is basically told to take it like a man and forget his attachments to everything except the Force. How does that help in the slightest?
Palpatine, on the other hand, not only offers fatherly advice, he isn't judgemental in any way of Anakin. Anakin can't even come right out and explain the situation to Yoda because he'll get in trouble for even being married and having children in the first place. Padme will still die in childbirth and he'll most likely lose any chance of ever becoming a Jedi Master.
One other thing is that killing Dooku never really sat that well with Anakin; he did it, but wasn't proud of it. Now, in the same situation, Windu is going to kill a defenseless opponent who not only happens to be a mentor and friend to Anakin, but has promised to help him save the love of his life.
Palpatine's far more supportive and has been for years now. Again, when given the choice, Anakin sided with Palpatine for obvious reasons.
He went from turning in Palpatine and going to save Windu to accepting an order to commit genocide and kill children in LITERALLY under 30 seconds.
He helped a Sith Lord kill Mace Freakin' Windu. It doesn't matter what he does now, the Jedi are going to be coming after him.
You have to question the mental state of somebody who has had to make a choice of this magnitude. Judging by the fact that he started crying on Mustafar when he finally had a moment to himself, he probably wasn't even really thinking about what he was doing. He was most likely operating on a sort of auto-pilot and was probably being nudged along by Palpatine.
Not to mention the fact that it's not like Palpatine is a total stranger, the guy is a major influence of Anakin and has been for years. So it's not like Anakin hasn't had notions about the Jedi being a potential danger to the Republic planted in his brain for years.

That movie was bad. It was hte best of the prequels but it was bad. If the whole movie was the last 20 minutes it would havee been good but it was too long and just boring. R2D2 and Yoda weer cool. THat's about it. This movie took way too long to come out.

That's how all Star Wars movies are, and they all took three years to finish.
Saw it again today, saw the Millenium Falcon flying in from the corner lol. I love when they add stuff like that in.
-

Exactly. So why should that change him? He knew that.
And recall, he wasn't even going there with evil intent.
As as far as "Well what could he do?" Turn himself in. Like Jedi ever kill innocent people or people that have a chance at redemption.
I found that entire scene just a laugh riot. And the best part was "Nooooooo!" ^o^
-
I just saw it today. It's the best one of the new trilogy. I can't compare it to the original trilogy because it's been like..10 years since I've seen it.
My favorite part was when the two guards tried to stop Yoda, but he just force pushes them both out of the way.

Something bothered me about the last scenes. Namely that scene where Vader, Palpatine and a younger Tarkin were watching the early construction of the 1st Death Star.
The first one took about 20 years (assuming that it started being built right after Luke and Leia's birth) and yet the second one managed to have the main weapon AND a shield generator in less than a year.
How the hell is that possible? Well, I come up with a theory.
My theory: That the Empire ceased construction for awhile until they gained signficant power to maintain the Empire while it was being built. It was put on the backburner until one meeting, an intern asks "What about that Death Star thingy? Shouldn't we finish that?". And so, the Death Star continued being built, the intern was rewarded for making Vader and Palpatine look like idiots by being put to death and then they went to my health club for some pancakes and an insanely big cup of coffee.
And if that theory doesn't work, there's always independant contractors.
-
It rocked so hard. It was more emotionally driven than any of the past films in my opinion. You can tell Lucas put some western tones in there at times. Namely Grevious, and Kenobi's scenes. Think if someone injected steroids in Empire Strikes Back thats Revenge of The Sith.
-
Seems someone took my advice to look carefully! :D
Well, the movie overall was awesome, but there were too many love scenes….And my theory for the 2nd Death Star was since they already had built one,They could build one again but in an even faster time cus they modified the plans.
The 2nd Death Star was only 1/4 finished anyways...it only had that freakin giant laser
workin when it was destroyed.
And the generator was still not fully functonal+it was being shielded by the shield generator.Saw it again today, saw the Millenium Falcon flying in from the corner lol. I love when they add stuff like that in.
Seems someone took my advice to look carefully! :D
-
I had too high expectation, and I guess I shouldn't have expected too much of it. Some of my friends said they cried in the end of the movie, so I was expecting something touching, but I was laughing at it when Anakin was walking like a Franken Stein (sp?) lol.
And such cheesy lines between Anakin and Padome, something like: You're beautiful. I'm beautiful because I'm in love with you. No, you're beautiful because something something something ~.~
And the African American Jedi (I'm bad with names, sorry) flew like 1 mile away from the window…
I liked Yoda though :D
Well, at least this movie made me wanting to watch next three episode again.
-
Hehe.
Poor Mace.
First he got shocked then he flies out the window and either gets hit by a ship or splatters on the ground. -
They had to work on the Death Star in secret, since the Senate still oversaw Palpatines actions. When he disbanded it back in Star Wars, he could work on a new one easier since he was the ruling body.

No, it's because they upgraded the Central Core to Windows XP from 3.1.
Yeah, Vader stomping around like Frankenstein was also funny as hell.

eh eh i feel exactly the same.
i'm happy that a lot of people there didn't really enjoy that much the movie, because around me, everybody enjoyed it and i look like an alien.
the only things i liked are overall R2D2, the fact that obiwan is stronger than anakin (in your ass little sucker) and the scene where yoda explains to obiwan that qui gon jinn discovered to kinda survive over the death, which is, of course, really interresting for 4 5 6 eps.
windu's death was baaaad, obiwan vs anakin was too flashy, and the whole movie is boring. i don't remember who in this thread said that it was boring that the jedis did so much flips while fighting and i totally agree, it's really boring… (too much "boring" in this post, but now you know how i felt during the movie  )

Hey Ubiq, a friend of mine offered an interesting theory. At that moment he was filled with a lot of adrenaline and while I don't think he was crazy or lost, I do think he was shaken if nothing more than by adrenaline. That said, it is quite possible that he was subjected to mind control at that moment. That I'd be willing to accept.

a friend of mine also offered that theory. but do you think that when you're filled with a lot of adrenaline your mind is THAT weak? i don't think so. of course you're not totally able to make the correct decision, but i dont think the Force can still control you when you're a jedi (or a palawan)
but well, without this theory, this scene is really bad. or so i think, so who knows?
i just watched ep 4 yesterday. it's really a lot of times better than the ep 3…
