Indeed. The manga used 7 chapters to finish the Morgan-arc, whereas in the anime, this was all done in three episodes. And the end of the Buggy-arc happened somewhere around chapter 20 in the manga, but in the anime, it was only episode 8. Their comments on the pacing don't make any sense, as they can't really get it much faster than this without speeding up the video itself… The recent episodes have been somewhat slow, but the East Blue-arc? No way.
I think they reviewed it a bit low. i think deserves at least an 8. Would be a 9 if they included all of the Kuro arc. So could finish and have that whole story nice.
But what do you expect though when you click on the anime section in IGN, and like 70% of the articles or anything related to anime is all about Naruto.
But I mean the VA did a great job with teh first voyage, it had many bosses. Alvida, Morgan, Buggy, and Kuro. And like you just said, covered quite a bit, when they contradict that saying it didn't move at all.
How much story do they expect, when you are introducing 4 main characters. Let alone each of the villians and crews. Plus give each story some emotion.

Interesting to note, that Sanji is shown with a cigarette in his mouth. Nice that they didn't edit that even for the case. Not that I would have really cared, only small detail that even if not there. I would just take it as Sanji ain't smokin' at that moment.
Sanji had his cigarette on the Movie 8 cover. Though smaller size, it was still there, so I don't think it's a big deal.

It's the cover, and even in the manga, there are covers with Luffy playing flutes and painting and doing things that he doesnt do in the actual manga arc. I dont see a problem with the exact same thing in the anime.

Propably. I guess FUNi considers episode 53 as the end of "Season one", and are doing 14 episodes on this set so the 4th set will end at that exact episode. Then we'll propably also see a 12-episode-set in Season two.

No, season one said 320 minutes. Each episode must roughly be 24 minutes.

Apparently his name was Andy Mullins, he also voiced Father Cornello in Fullmetal Alchemist and according to IMDB.com he dubbed five One Piece episodes so we might hear him in Second Voyage but I'm not sure about the rest. They'll probably just redub the rest of his lines but I hope the pay homage to in the DVD extras or something. Maybe give us an episode he dubbed.

I remember hearing a few months ago that a certain VA had passed away but his roles had been recast and that nothing had really been recorded. I can't remember if it was a Funi VA or not though.

Finally bought First Voyage and watched through it.
It was freaking sweet. My only complaints were the eyecatch sounds being messed up and not corresponding to the characters, and I felt like the dub of Memories was kind of off. The singing was too loud, imho.
But, aside from that, it was an amazing release. We Are's dub is awesome, and all the voices are great.
Seeing and hearing One Piece completely uncut is like a dream finally come true.
So I must sincerely thank FUNi for providing this awesome release.

K-F's episodes were like that too, (meaning that they would play Luffy's eyecatch-theme over Zoro's picture and stuff like that) and the japanese track on the DVDs also does it like that, so yeah, that was definitely in the original version as well.
Yeah same with the janky subs that I watched long ago.
If Funi dubs the movies, do you think they'll release it one movie at a time or double features like they're doing with the DBZ movies?
DFs are possible since the movies are so short, but I really don't see them selling sets right off the bat. It's just not their style (the DBZ movies have been dubbed for years, they just finned-tuned them).

Well, yeah. That's just why they won't release them two at a time. The DBZ double features are nothing more than rereleases. So it shouldn't be compared with One Piece. The DBZ movies were originally released in singles.
Speaking of which I wonder when Funi'll get around to the movies. After Second Voyage would be the perfect time to release the first movie since it takes place with only Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Usopp.

You don't know what Toei "demands". They gave FUNimation movie8. So what? The doesn't mean they want them to dub all their new movies. Besides, movie8 was just a condensed version of the Arabasta arc and Unlimited Adventure is just a game. Them dubbing actual movies with characters and events that take place after the Enies Lobby arc (which we're no where near yet) is just crazy. They're dubbing from the beginning so I expect older properties to be announced that go along with the current amount of episodes dubbed.
