So it's Sept 16th now?
-
The only one I can remember off the top of my head was during the filler between arabasta and jaya. Luffy, incredibly bored, actaully asked robin about the book she was reading. The others were in a state between horror and shock, and one of them said(or thought) "the sea is a mysterious place", referring to luffy actually being interested in a book. I believe this has been used quite a few times, but I may be wrong. My memory is less then stellar.
I don't think it's that important, really. And many of the characters during that arc (Rainbow Mist) were OOC. It's not as important as other things in the anime. The fact that you only remember it from one of the crappiest arcs, Rainbow Shit, suggests that it isn't important to the plot. Stuff skipped by 4Kids, like Little Garden and Laboon, are.
EDIT: Where did you hear about it Quex? That's sweet, if it's true.
-
It said so in the youtube video…
-
They must have had an open spot on that weeks releases, maybe another shot got delayed? Or it could just be OP got more so ahead of scheduel on work on set three.
I'm still waiting for a solicitation on RightStuf, though.
-
Incidentallly, Anime Expo is coming up very soon, so hopefully there will be something One Piece going on this year again.
-
Someone mind telling me how a DVD cover debuted in a YouTube video before as an image somewhere? I'm not calling it fake, just curious. Also, I'm not believing the date change till we get confirmation.
The boxart is beautiful, but just like the last set it's subject to change. I don't like the fact Luffy's vest is undone, he doesn't have that till Skypiea.

Okay let's shoot this out of the sky before it can achieve escape velocity and reach space where it'll bombard us repeatedly until there's nothing left.
-
Hey now, I was only saying.
-
Well as long as it doesn't spill out of control like a certain hair color debate.
-
Don't bank on the cover being the same in real life as the one we're seeing. First Voyage changed covers between preview and release.
-
^ Yeah, but in that case the "preview" image was using old stock art.
This already has the new art work. But, yeah, anything can happen.

We SHOULD be hearing something around con season, I don't think they can wait forever to announce merchandise and website updates. And they've gotta come clean about what's going on with Cartoon Network at some point soon, people aren't just going to forget about it. If FUNimation still doesn't have answers I was hoping to talk to some Toei Animation reps at Anime Expo since they started exhibiting there last year, but unfortunately I found out today they won't be holding a booth there this year, they'll only be industry guests. This is disappointing since last year at the "One Piece" panel Sae from Toei indicated they'd be at AX next year and the year after that, implying what they were doing then would be a regular thing, but it looks like that may not exactly be the case. Toei Animation will still be involved with Anime Expo, on their website they said they're giving out pre-registration contest prizes, as well as saying they'll have screenings and "Pretty Cure" collectibles, but I'm still disappointed. I was hoping by Anime Expo we could finally get some answers, by I don't know if it'll be that easy now.
-
Yeah… if we do hear anything about One Piece at Anime Expo, hopefully it's about licensing one of the movies (movie 9?)...
-

Seriously?
It's not like His Vest didn't have Buttons up until Skypiea.
In Fact.
Color Spread from the Buggy Arc -
For that matter why is anybody being so nitpicky about buttons in the first place?
-
that's what I find Funny.
It's an Awesome Pic!! why does it matter that his shirt is unbuttoned? XP -
Buuhan, you should know better than to give any kind of negative criticism. I'm so disappointed in you. :|

Hey… Negative Criticism is one thing... Complaining because a Shirt is Unbuttoned is Just being Nitpicky XP
And Yes Firecrouch, I believe you're right.
I mean, why Complain about this? It's not Like FUNimation's gonna make an ACTUAL Continuity Mistake!! Like making it so Zoro can Cut Steel before Arabasta- Oh... waitaminut... -
I'll rue the day when I hear that Oda consciously wanted to let Luffy unbutton his shirt after the story had developed some more .
-
Hmm…
Even though everyone is saying that these images are "unused", I have seen pretty much every image used on the FUNI DVDs on Japanese One Piece Cards.
-
… really?... they're supposed to be brand new. I don't suppose you have pics of said cards.
BTW, Buuhan wasn't complaining, he was just pointing it out. I know because I've had this happen to me before.
-
TOEI's cheap then. :p I thought these were recently drawn artwork considering how detailed and sharp they are.

box art for One piece season 1 second voyage
0q93KTSXrRgDespite Luffy looking extremely angry for a DVD cover, I'm really digging the artwork.
-
I've seen Similar Poses before, but I don't remember seeing quite the same ones and drawn so well in the new style. Do you have the Imagees RuNa?

digging the dracule eye on Zoro's blade there.

ROFL!
Buuhan…srsly..no. Just no. Having your shirt unbuttoned isnt an outfit unto itself!
It'd be different if he had the black wristband and the braclets and stuff but it's just an unbuttoned vest which had been shown in artwork BEFORE sypiea, WAY BEFORE. relagz! -
Here is a better and more high quality verison of Season 1, 2nd Voyage cover.
-
So yea, I totally dig the artwork. No complaints from me.
-
Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't Funi frequently commission Toei for new DBZ artwork? Getting new OP art as well doesn't seem like such a stretch in that case.
-
Where is all this stuff being leaked from? Where did we find the release date and all that?
-
I don't know where they got the cover from. But the release date of September 23rd. We learn of the release date from the most recent Volume of XXXHolic in the Funi booklet thing thing that comes with all the Funi dvds.
-

Nope, they never had original stuff done for DBZ's covers. They either use pre-existing promotional artwork or screenshots from the anime.
-
That cover is awesome. I hope that'll be the final product.

This post is deleted!

Ehrm, that's incorrect. They've stated in the past that the character artwork for the season sets is new and exclusive. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure that they've done so for videogames before, but that might have been Atari or Bandai Namco and not FUNimation.
-
I know its probably to early to ask this but has there been any word on the japanese title/credits? because thats the only thing that i didnt like about the dvd. dont like the funi logo.

Unfortunately, that's not likely to change… ever. I wouldn't have any problem with it if it was JUST the credits, and the logo/episode-title-screens were left untouched, but this is sadly not the case. It's not like those changes ruin the show or anything, but it is somewhat annoying, considering how both of them are essentially useless. The logo was already written in english, and Luffy announces the title of the episodes anyway, so we don't really need them to be written in english. FUNi should do like the other companies do, translate the credits, and the logo if it's in japanese, and NOTHING ELSE. That, or they should go back to using alternate angles, like they've always done before.
-
Either those are being saved for double-dipping or TOEI gives them certain footage.
-
@Yuugi's:

I doubt it. FUNi propably just figured it would be better this way, though I disagree. I know Toei is a bunch of stuck-up retards, but I'm still fairly sure this is all FUNi's own idea.

I agree, the angles would've made this set much better. But from what I hear, they've pretty much stopped using them on all of their releases. Even DBZ Season 5. Its a shame to. I think we should at least be able to have the choice to see the original logo and episode title. I don't even care that much about the credits. Though I think it would be better if they translated some credits in the opening and some in the ending, like it was in the original. Kind of like the Death Note dub.(a VIZ property, I know)

I agree. If they really did stop doing angles with the very recent DBZ season sets, then it HAS to be FUNimations choice as the Japanese angles and such have been present on other releases. I also beleive the original logo was intact on a different angle for movie8. I even asked Mcfarland myself about the original logo at AWA and he told me that there would be video angles. So I guess they just decided to stop using them somewhere down the road…

From what I heard, DBZ still uses angles on the season-sets, but the new release of movie 1 and 2 didn't have them. (Which is really annoying, as the english titles for those movies are anything but accurate most of the time.)
But yeah, they've more or less abandoned the alternate angles, propably because they've gotten a new guy to do the encoding. -
o well.. suppose i can hope..
I know it dosent really effect the show in anyway just i prefered the proper logo, dont see why the change it on here but unlimited adventure its kept the same. o well, just dreading to see what they do with crazy rainbow and jungle P with the animated title.

Wow, you guys suuure love to rip on someone for pointing something out. Pat yourselves right on the back there, buddy boys!
Who gives a shit if Luffy had it unbuttoned in color spreads and illustrations? Luffy didn't have his vest unbuttoned during the Baratie Arc and that was my point. I will point something out if I want to, and I don't give a damn if you guys don't like that.
This is a discussion forum, not a sunshine and daisy no complaining one. If you want that, go to a cabbage patch kids forum or some shit. I bet there's complaining there too, tho.

When you open the flood gates you run the risk of getting washed away.

I like to say I got a good grip on a strong tree branch.
-
But what happens if the branch breaks?
-
Focus you're Charkra into the soles of your feet.
-
Like Naruto you can't properly focus your Chakra and forced to repeatedly take dips in the cold rushing waters of whatever river or lake has flooded.

Scuba tank. Scuuuba.

Mind posting a link to where they state this? Because the artwork for the season sets is either old artwork or slightly reworked stuff thats been traced. (For example, season two's artwork is an old promotional shot of Goku thats been used thousands of times; season four's artwork is from a Super Battle Collection package.)
Take anything Funimation says pertaining towards a Dragon Ball release with a grain of salt.
I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure that they've done so for videogames before, but that might have been Atari or Bandai Namco and not FUNimation.
Video game covers are a different matter as there are more companies involved than just Funimation.
