The full name of their organization is "Ouka Shichibukai". Shichibukai has seen nearly every possible translation, from the literal "Seven Armed Seas", to the fanciful "Seven Gods of the Seas", to the fairly approximate "Seven Warlords of the Sea". "Ouka", however, is fairly straightforward, and means "under the king". So, in theory at least, they are answerable to someone with a regal position, most likely within the World Government. And that is the weasel-word answer.
Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

The funny thing is, the path to Raftel could just be hidden because it takes a few years or so for the Log Pose to set on the penultimate island, like on Little Garden. The reason why that could be difficult is down to the proximity of the island and the difficulty for the log pose to stay in the same place for the right amount of time with everyone else trying to stop them.
There's a fairly easy way to solve that problem though…. Just bury the logpose and then sail away, when the times up just come back and dig it up.
I'd hate if it was just a problem related the ammount of time needed to spend at the island.

I know, it would be pretty anti-climatic. I'm sure Oda will reveal the reason in due course, and it will be near the end of the New World journey. We will have to go on faith that the reason is a very very good one.
-
Would it be weird if a new crew member joined the crew and actually, seriously dated one of the current members? Would that change the feeling of the show?
-
Yes it would, and I have a faint recollection that Oda said something along the lines of there never going to be any romantic relationships among the crewmembers.
-
I think the quote was "Of course they're in love… with adventure". Oda never said yes or no, so it could go either way.

Well, this could be why none of the 4 yonkou have yet to reach Raftel. I mean think about it, those 4 have been in the New World for awhile, and Shanks even took the time to go meet Whitebeard. In a traditional race, one person wouldn't backtrack or let the other ahead just to talk to them. This means that getting to Raftel isn't as easy as just Island hopping. One reason, as you said, is that on some islands, it may take a really long time to set. Another reason (going off on a speculation tangent again) could be that there is "something" blocking the path to Raftel. Either that, or the 4 yonkou are just keeping themselves in a stalemate.
-
I'm thinking that Shanks may not himself have any ambitions toward becoming the Pirate King himself, especially since his arm was lost toward his investment in Luffy.
-
Was Rob Lucchi's name translating to 'steal the light' intentional or unintentional?(im sure Lucchi means 'cat').
-
Oda said in SBS that it was unintentional.
-
Percentage wise from 0% to 100%, what are the odds of Zoro winning at the moment if he fought Mihawk in a sword/dagger fight?
-
-6%
(lengthen of the character count)
-
So it still that one sided?
-
So it still that one sided?
no, I'm kidding of course
So, if Zoro and Mihawk fought right now? Um….. Well, I still think Mihawk would win. Let's say 10% of Zoro's victory.
-
A 10% chance of winning sounds pretty good when you think about it.
-
Well, we still haven't even gotten to the new world yet, and that's where Mihawk lives, so he still has to be stronger. I guess it's 10% at best.
-
I'd say at least 25% at least.
-
alright, I'm going to ask this, even though it's more of an anime question.
Hell, it is an anime question, but they don't have a thread like this, and I don't feel like starting one (and if they do have one like this, well…..oh well then)
Ok, so, doesn't brook's voice (when it's serious, at least) sound like Henzo from the Rainbow Mist Arc?
-
I'd say at least 25% at least.
Does two "at least" take each other out like a double negative or how does that work? =S
-
what? I only used one "at least"
-
This post is deleted!

Look at last post on page 3. Your post hadn't shown up yet when I tried to post.
Oh, well, that was just a comma error.
He meant "At least 25%, At least!"
It was an emphasis on the at least, because he's a Zoro fan, and he wants him to win bad >.<
-
No, he was commenting on my post about Zoro being at least 25% of the way toward beating Mihawk. I put it down to being tired when I posted that, seeing as I was about to go to bed when I did.

how are devil fruits made?
-
It hasn't been revealed yet mintoisgod.
No one knows anything about devil fruits except:
-they give powers to whoever eats them in exchange for making them unable to swim.
-you can't eat two devil fruits (without it resulting in your death)
-there cant exist more then one of each fruit at the same time. -
how are devil fruits made?
you see, when a guy devil fruit and a girl devil fruit get together they-
no, it hasn't been revealed yet.
-
Oda said in SBS that to know what a Devil Fruit is we will have to wait for "some scientis who will eventually explain it" - so in other words for dr Vegapunk
-
ok can camie turn all human like that old hag from water 7?

ok can camie turn all human like that old hag from water 7?
No, she would have to wait until she was about 40 years old.

Has Oda ever coloured the first few pages of a chapter, like I've seen for a few other series?
after reading through my volumes an seeing the colourspreads in b&w, i suspect pages like this (http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/1/04/ , http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/1/16/) were originally coloured in their Jump printing
compared to your normal pages like this (http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/1/17/). the difference is much more obvious on higher quality images though

Can anyone remember the number of the last chapter in which we saw smoker?

It is said, that when becoming a Shichibukai you need to abandom your crew… where was this again?

It is said, that when becoming a Shichibukai you need to abandom your crew… where was this again?
Nowhere.
It's fan speculation that surfaced after Yosaku said Arlong used to belong to Jinbei's crew and we noticed Mihawk didn't seem to have any crew.
It wasn't disproved by anything for so long that some people thought it was fact.
Though Bellamy flying DoFlamingos flag and Moria having a living crew (of 3 members) seems to indicate there is no such rule.
-
It was a bit more then that because I was under the impression LONG before I surfaced at the on-line communties. Maybe ONE day we'll find the true source of this horrible myth.
-
It is said, that when becoming a Shichibukai you need to abandom your crew… where was this again?
Theres no such rule, else Blackbeard, Moria, Crocodile nor Flamingo who all have crews would be in the shichibukai.
-
Since when did crocodile have a crew?

We haven't seen Vivi since he became one of the Bukishaki. So maybe he's really abandoned his crew :(
-
-
Doflamingo still has his crew, but since he's busy with the WG, he more or less has to had to have Bellamy run things in his absence.
And I suppose Baroque Works could be considered Crocodile's "crew" since they do have their own Jolly Roger.
-
bbq work if u count it in xD
Which was a secret organization. The marines and WG had no idea about Sir Crocodiles involvement with it so that they could not enforce any such rule even if it did exist.

I'm curious about this…
Are you mocking someone? Is it an intelligence test? Do you want to see if someone starts ranting about Vivi? Is it an old miracles quote? Lobster quote?
-
And since everyone probably thought Moria's enigmas were zombies and the Don is killing off his old crew on orders of the MHQ we pretty much confirmed the no-crew-rule \o/
It's kinda lame we'll never see Lafitte and the gang again :(

Nah, there characters were almost TOO good. Their designs and personalities were all pretty awesome, I doubt he would just throw them away. Plus Blackbeard seems like the sort of person who would care about his crew (and it doesn't count for him murdering Sachi, since he wanted to be captain, and now that he's captain, he's at the main position of power, and I don't understand why he would try to harm the rest of his crew. I mean, he even asked Ace if he wanted to join his crew iirc… why would he do that if he was aiming to become a Shichibukai. Whats the point of getting a bigger crew if he's just going to dump them once he's achieved his goal?)
-
well, mihawk and kuma seemed to have no crew, croco kept his hidden under the name of a company, flamingo had at least bellamy, moria still has perversalom and hoggi and the others we don't know about.
-
so the question is answered, once again we've beaten this myth… can it die now?

Well, eye wouldn't say they're characters where two good butt they were still pretty awesome so your probably rite.

I can't figure out who you are mocking Elric.

I can't figure out who you are mocking Elric.
And that's the real tragedy.
This is another one of those threads that should have been a post in that paradox thread for questions that don't deserve their own thread. Since the question has already been answered we can now do whatever we want in here. Smoker owns Vivi.
