RE: Bakuman
I know the discussion on this has moved on, but having re-read up to Chapter 38 it's-in it's simplest form-the same as 65 except Aoki was 'the bad guy' ("It's all the fault of that heartless bitch!", "His passion for manga is what moves him!")
So Aoki is a 'heartless bitch' because she refused to give into emotional blackmail, stalking, and a guy camping outside her house for at least three days straight? He's lucky she didn't phone the police.I take back everything I said about the guy, makes at lot more sense now

@robbybevard:
You have some valid points, Davy…
Seeing it from that perspective it does make his behavior seem less 'sudden', but there doesn't seem to be much of a transition between 'lovable loser' to 'complete jerk', it just seemed to come out of nowhere to me (perhaps i'll do some re-reading).
Ego is a very good point though, no doubt about that, but i'm guessing at the very worst his behavior was simply a result of him seeing the caricature of himself in Aoki's comic taking it the wrong way and letting his ego step in. http://www.onemanga.com/Bakuman/65/15/
I'm sure he'll realize what an arse he was and try to redeem himself soon.

RE: Bakuman
Can't believe people are accepting the whole THIS IS HIS TRUE CHARACTER, AOKI's SUSPICIONS OF MEN WERE TRUE ALL ALONG thing.
When we first see Nakai he's some thirty-something down-on-his-luck assistant, former mangaka who was unsucessful (showing the reader the 'reality' of trying to get into manga I suppose). He needs a job, hes friendly, a bit naive in expecting his affections to Aoki would be returned, but gives some insight into what it's like for the assistants and is a geniunely likeable guy.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but it wasn't too long ago when guys were berating Aoki for 'dumping' Nakai as an editor for Koogy ('Colorfusical'), and I know she has become much more developed and likelable since, but come on. How you find it so easy to accept the guy who drew in a snowstorm to 'prove himself' (never thought i'd be using that in an arguement) would suddenly do something that stupid?
It's contrived and sloppy, that suddenly when Shujin decides to act Aoki decides he's her last hope for humanity (aww) and on Aoki McFaceHeelTurn decides he's a dick (in the same day, no less). Also, when did we suddenly slip into another genre? http://www.onemanga.com/Bakuman/65/19/
UNEXPECTED UNFAITHFULNESS…!! -
RE: Bakuman
God this chapter felt so contrived
Shujin: Wuh-oh!, Mashiro's getting dragged into this shitstorm aswell, better bail out while I still can-should be fine right? we're just talking casually, right??
Aoki: I'm DEPRESSED and you're only person that understands me, the last bastion of hope in this whole mess
Shujin: FFFFFF
MEANWHILE, IN NAKA'S SUBCONSCIOUS
Nakai: Yeah, this girl is all over me and shit-I knew it wasn't any fault of mine that I messed up on the first relationship!, that bimbo was just crazy….. <seconds later="">WELL WELL, look wo's crawling back!-FUCK YEAH, somehow, someway, I will get those two in the sack HIGH FIVE soon they're gonna have to start callin me N-Bone
^Totally me
Aoki:…..
Restaurant:...
Me:LOLWHUT?
I'm sorry this whole love triangle, that stupid argument, and Nakai turning into Lechy Mcdouche seemingly overnight just irked me.</seconds>

RE: Things That You Would Like to See in the Manga
I'd love to see Coby+Helmeppo becoming actual rivals, I mean so far they've been insta-beaten by Zoro and Luffy and have run around scared senseless this entire war.
More team battles instead of upgrades, it'd be interesting to see (for example) a team of Usopp+Nami+Chopper against a particularly strong foe, each one covering the others' weakness (say Chopper charges into the fray while Nami prepares Clima tact and Usopp gains some distance, then Usopp shoots a smoke bomb down and Chopper retreats, smoke clears and suddenly theres half a dozen images of Chopper, etc)

RE: Fairy Tail
Dude, that's been a staple of anime for fucking EVER.
Claymore is far from the first place to have done it.
Whoa, no need to get so hostile there, I wasn't trying to suggest Claymore was the first to use the trope buddy
I'm just saying that its clichéd i've seen it before, that's just an example of where i've seen it

RE: Fairy Tail
Hmm, the 'seemingly-weak-and-clumsy-one'-now where have I seen that before?
uugh
Even the stupid 'arms flailing upwards' is the same.
