I notice that people say about Naruto and sometimes Bleach is overrated.
Im wondering since One Piece is on the big shonen 3 is that if or if not is overated.

you have to read the manga in my eyes cause its 100000000-times better than the anime...but cause its overrated by many a lot of readers just go for the anime and dont go rly deep in the storyline cause they all think one of the shonen top3 is just some childish shiat lets just watch some episodes or so...:sad:
I agree, for being one of the big three it's vastly under represented in the anime fandom.
When there's not much fan-content or merchandise avalalbe, it seems neglected over here compared to bleach and naruto.

Yeah, it earns its recognition and many are aware that it's one of the 'big three', but they usually pay it no heed. I think it's been said millions and millions of times over the reasons why most people don't pick up OP, so I don't need to repeat.
I'm probably making a huge generalization when I say that OP fans are overall less presumptious, more open-minded and can forgive/enjoy peculiar and funny designs… But then I remember we don't have Battledome and I might have a point.
Whatever the case is, bishies and ki beams are destined to be more popular with the youngun's. That's just the way things are.

What I think happened was it just got mis-marketed.
You wouldn't belive how many people I know that love HunterxHunter, Naruto, Bleach, Shaman King, and a bunch of the other amusing shonen series that watched a handful of epsoides of one piece on cartoon network and gave up right there.
The ones that actually watched subs or read the manga love it. shrug

Yes it is. I've got two random issues of US Shonen Jump, and both of them had One Piece in them. (For the record, they contained the start of the fight against Arlong and the last few chapters of volume 13.)

One Piece is (like everyone else already stated) is underrated. Im not sure in Japan though, considering it already has a huge base, and has more spot time so far from what I've seen more than Naruto or Bleach. So within the U.S its far from being overrated.

One Piece is definitely underrated in the west. I'm sure it gets waaaaaaay more coverage then it should in the east, though.
An overated series would definitely be Naruto (though I'm sure everyone here's fully aware of that). Viz is whoring it out so much that it now has three different strains of Herpes and HPV. I like Naruto, but the filler is driving me insane (and it's been kind of lackluster since they left the Forest of Death).

I was basically saying that it's gotten even MORE lackluster since then (especially because of OMG SASUKE, THE STUCK UP PRICK, LEFT! BAAAW!! GET THE WHAAAAAAMBULANCE!!!!).
I also have different standards for Naruto than for other things (like how in school there's weighted grades for the slower students, which would be Naruto in this case).

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean if they're fans of both of those series? I mean, they can be fans of all three of course.
As for me, it all depends on opinion. Many think Naruto and Bleach are better. Let 'em. It just annoys me when people say something is crap without even giving it a shot.

Anyway, I agree with Cosmic. Who cares what other people think? If you like it, that should be good enough for you. Heck, I've been known to watch Miyazaki movies in broad daylight in the middle of parking lots. If someone wants to tell me I'm stupid or immature, I'll just tell them the same. I don't care. I'll probably never see them again anyway. Likewise, if someone tells you you're stupid for watching One Piece, just take solace in the fact that they're probably just going back home to their Naruto graphic novels.

I think One Piece is rather underrated by fans of such **** as Naruto and so on.They only watch one or even half of an episode(often first one,that was made 10 years ago) or look at one of the first chapters(that were,honestly,awfull at artwork) and than say-"Oh man how can you watch such masafaking schit".While we know how it goes in Japan….
And often localisators think that One Piece is childish and try to edit it a little,than a little more,than a lot until they just cancel it.Bastards.

Somewhat over-rated. Most people are only comparing OP to Bleach or Naruto when they call it under-rated, and while some arcs in OP are godly like Arabasta and Skypiea, those arcs aren't widely considered the best - when one sees people praising trash like Enies Lobby as a hallmark of original writing, it's pretty obvious those kind of people don't have any experience outside of a handful of manga.
Anime is very over-rated, though.

We can still discuss if certain arcs themselves are overrated given that there isn't a specific guideline that says we can't.
If we're talking about everybody, that includes casual "anime" people, then i'd say One Piece is pretty under-rated. It is being over-seen by lots of people because they get turned off by the arts and because they think its too childish… I mean I admit OP looks really goofy but there's actually depth and direction to it (well, at least we all know that its gotta end once they reach the last island).

Because there are more people who like Naruto whereas One Piece is way better than Naruto IMO, even if I like Naruto too.
