Something about Super Paper Mario made me not like it nearly as much as the first two. The different worlds just didn't feel as varied and interesting as they did in TTYD.

@EvilGamerX:
By the way, what is the best Ratchet and Clank game for PS2? I enjoyed the PS3 one so much I wanna get one of the PS2 ones. Hell, I may just start from the first one and go in order. Any recommendations on the subject? I do highly suggest the one for PS3 if one has the system.
My personal favourite is 2: Going commando, because it was the longest and hat the best gameplay. Up your Arsenal was by far the most fun (as in best humor, story and villain), but the Ill-fated multiplayer addition sadly reduced the singleplayer part, compared to GC. Never played deadlocked, but I know it's the one that strays the most from Futures formula.
Just finished Okami, and strongly recommends it to anyone in general.
Gems like this allow me to kill the time for another PS3 price drop, in a way that makes me wonder if my PS2 needs replacement at all. -
I must recommend Uncharted for PS3 for all PS3 owners. I truly do believe it is my favorite game of '07.
-
What Street Fighter games do you guys recommend, and possibly a source/torrent for them. (I presume they're emulatable.)
-
Hmmm that's tough, but just so you'd know the latest MAME versions all run CPS3 games, so you can run the SFIII games.
TBH all SFs are recommendable IMHO, you just have to play each one to decide which you want excel in. Here's some quick info about the games-
Street Fighter I- Wait now that I think about it, don't bother with this game it's a pain in the ass to play and the controls are tough as fuck.Street Fighter II- I can count 4-5 'versions' of this game; the first one which 8 characters, then 2nd which allowed you to play as Dictator and his underlings, the 3rd is the one that was released for the CPS2 arcade board and introduced the last 4 characters (T. Hawk and co.) and the 4th is the updated ver. of the 3rd which introduced Gouki & had supers [interesting tidbit, the 4th ver. is what they were aiming for but without Gouki. It got released later cuz of time restraints).
The Ann. Edition for the PS2 & X-Box is another one you can try as it allows you to pit a ver. of a character against an older or later ver. of that or another character.
Just for the record, Gouki & Classic/Original Sagat are banned in tournies lol.EDIT: Continuing on…
Street Fighter Zero/Alpha- All games are fun, but 2 & 3 are the most played ATM. Alpha 1 is really a 'prototype' Alpha 2 is what the game was supposed to look like. There is also SFZ2 Alpha a.k.a. SFA2 Gold which is an updated ver. of Alpha/Zero 2 with some alterations and additions here and there. The music is also remixed in Z2A/A2G.
The last game in the series is Alpha 3 which I believe is the hardest of the Alpha games to learn, but with time u'll get accustomed to it. Don't worry urself with V-ISM, just try to learn to play with the first 2 before going on it.SF EX Series- I like these personally and they are a bit easy to learn even though they're combo dependent, but then again the most damaging combos aren't always the hardest to perform.
Interesting tidbit, the following are the versions released of the games-
Street Fighter EX (Arcade)
Street Fighter EX Plus (Arcade, updated ver.)
Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (PSX release plays, like EX+, but added Sakura & Dhalsim)
Street Fighter EX 2 (Arcade interestingly enough character select screen is different than EX2P, as well as some character attributes)
Street Fighter EX 2 Plus (Arcade & PSX, updated ver. :P)
Street Fighter EX 3 (PS2 & Arcade(?), I think the best ver. is the UK/Pal, but I'll have to check)Note that the EX series were made by Arika and have NOTHING to do with the SF timeline/plot.
Street Fighter III- The latest games in the SF series, pretty easy to learn but the most played ver. is 3S. Here's a quick breakdown of some of the changes in each game;
New Generation: Just about EVERY character can do INCREDIBLE Stun damage, Ibuki would be banned in tournies cuz she's freaking powerful, Ryu had an infinite combo with his Shin Shoryu-ken, Alex had an infinite combo against Elena only & Sean was great in this game. Oh and you can play as Yang by selecting Yun with a Kick button.Second Impact: Like Alpha 2, THIS is what SFIII was supposed to look like. Introduced EX moves, Sean is still very good and has crazy combos, introduced Hugo, Gouki & Urien, Yang now has a complete own movelist separate from Yun, Ibuki was still powerful, Ryu lost his Shin Shoryu infinite combo but got 2 STOCKS DENJIN(!) & some stages were edited and some music was changed.
3rd Strike: The most played ver. of the series, changed some stuff making SAIII Yun almost unbeatable, Ken got far stronger than his previous ver., Urien became better, Sean got raped and is barely playable, Ibuki got weakened and needs some work to play with, Gouki got scaled down and given a few extra moves & added 5 new characters of whom ChunLi is one of them.
Hope I've helped, peace.

Okay….uuh, I dunno how to work this MAME thing. I downloaded it and extracted it (dunno how it use the fricken patch system...) but..where the hell is the actual emulator?
-
http://emu-russia.km.ru/default.php?a=files&id=17&l=en
^Use this one, the one u DLed must've been the DOS one, after extraction u'll find an icon that looks like an arcade machine Double click it and MAME will run.
As for ROMs and ISOs… -
Other games I recommend-
Fastest CvS2 match ever?)
Garou Mark of the Wovles (Easy to learn)
Real Bout 2 (tAKE A while to learn but cool game, blue flames FTW)
Hokuto no Ken for the PS2
Capcom vs. SNK 2 ( -
Freeman-12, there are many great Genesis shmups out there. Thunderforce III and IV are awesome. Also try Slap Fight, Super Fantasy Zone, Gleylancer, MUSHA, and Eliminate Down.
-
Smexy gonna give them a try.
-
Ya I'm looking for a good DS game…..
And does anyone know where the best place to get a Wii would be?
-
NDS-
G. Saiban games a.k.a. Phoenix Wright & A. Justice games. -
Sorry to bump, just got a DS.
Just want to see what you guys think are must haves for the system.
-
phantom hourglass
solid shit right there -
The iNis rythm games and Pokemon Diamond & Pearl.
Basically all you'll ever need.
-
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Seriously, do it.
-
@Earthworm:
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Seriously, do it.
Yeah, seriously, do it!
Now!
Right now!
And pick up Portrait of Ruin while you're at it. -
What, no Mario Kart?
-
-
@Tommy:
Was Mario Kart DS any good?
If you liked any of the other games in the series, it's worth it.
-
I ordered Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros. with my DS. Forgot to mention on my post.
-
As an Ace Attorney fan, I'd suggest any of those games, if you're into that kind of stuff. On that subject, Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory were also good adventure-puzzle games. Although Dusk is about 90% dialogue.
-
If you're lenient on control learning curves, Super Mario 64 DS is a great buy.
Bonus content from the original galore, and it's one of the few games on the damn thing that handles 3D in a way that won't send your cones and rods to hell.Phantom Hourglass is a given, also.
-
animal crossing wild world is one of my favorites

I've played all three Ace Attorney games on roms. About the two games you mentioned at the end, how long are they and how difficult would you say they were?
animal crossing wild world
Loved this on gamecube, is there still a strong online presence?

I'm glad you mentioned this, I was wondering how much different it was from the first. Judging from your post it seems to be a new experience based on an old and familiar one.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Never actually played a Castlevania game before. Should I be ashamed?
Phantom Hourglass and Pokemon were the first on my list to buy.
The iNis rythm games
Is this that Ouendan that you guys are always talking about?
-
If you love good and humorous storylines with some really inovative platforming, do yourself a favor and check out Psychonauts.
This is probably one of my favorite games of all time, check it out if you are looking for good games.
-

I don't really know, I haven't played it in a long time.
-

And Elite Beat Agents, yeah.

Damn, it's been a while since I played Trace Memory. My main memories of the games are that Cing, the company that made Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk, usually found good ways to use the DS to solve puzzles. I also know that Trace has a couple of different endings depending on how many memories you recover and I remember getting stuck on a few of the puzzles in the game for a while.
I think Dusk has a few different endings as well. The Dusk gameplay is broken up into 10 chapters, I think most of them were about the same length. It's a character-based game focusing on the people at the hotel and is mostly dialogue-driven. It's really a game for fans of the old point and click genre of Adventure games. If you were to pick between one or the other, I'd go with Dusk. All this talking about it is making me want to replay it.

SNES: Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, Mario World, Any Donkey Kong Country, and LoZ: A Link To the Past

GCN: Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Smash Bros Melee, Zelda:Wind Waker, and the Metroid games
PS2: Dragon Quest VIII
Wii: Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Corruption, Paper Mario, and No More Heroes. Soon to have Smash Bros. Brawl

Hey guys, I'm getting a DS tomorrow. I'll probably be getting Phantom Hourglass and Pokemon Diamond with it. Anything else you'd recommend?
-
Here's a few games I would recommend:
Bubble Ghost
Mole Mania
Toki Tori
River City Ransom
Pac-Man Collection
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
The whole Legacy of Goku series
Kid Icarus: Myths and MonstersThese are all Gameboy titles, but there good games IMO!

Looking for a good RPG for the X-Box 360.

They've been mentioned before, but the Ace Attorney series is something you should at least try out. Also, Elite Beat Agents, Final Fantasy III and Mario Kart.
Finally, there's a hidden gem somewhere out there called "Lunar Knights." It's made by the Metal Gear guy and it features some solid combat mechanics, two characters to choose from and an addictive space shooter phase for every boss battle (you fight the bosses, who are all vampires, then carry them into deep space to blast them with sunlight.) I definitely recommend it to anyone who owns a DS.

A lot of people seem to like Lost Odyssey, which is basically Mist Walker making a Final Fantasy game (Blue Dragon was Mist Walker making a Dragon Quest game). Eternal Sonata also has a good amount of fans. Of course, if you like the Western kind, then there's always Oblivion.

Astro Boy: Omega Factor for the Gameboy Advance.
No, seriously. Get that game.
At first I didn't want to give it a try since Astro Boy never caught my attention, but after playing it for at least a day I couldn't help but want more. And hey, it was made by Treasure, so you know it's already a good action game. And surprisingly, the story is awesome. It doesn't just stick with Astro Boy characters, it's more like one, huge cloth of all of Osama Tezuka's works. Now that's pretty cool.
Another plus is that it'll be really cheap if you ever come across a copy.
And I'd also recommend the Ace Attorney series. I just don't feel that it's getting the popularity that it should.
-
Gotcha Force.
The best Gamecube game.
Seriously.
Get it.
now.
-
Hey, youse guys. I'm most likely gonna be getting a PSP sometime tonight. Could I get some recommendations for it?

He's not kidding. The game kicks ass.
Looking for a fairly cliche and fairly new (findable) JRPG for Ps2?
-
Astro Boy: Omega Factor absolutely kicks ass, and you don't need to be familiar with the character at all to enjoy it.
Good PS2 RPGs? That's a pretty long list, man. My favorites are probably Tales of the Abyss, Shadow Hearts: Covenant (aka Shadow Hearts 2), Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, and Grandia II. All of them could be considered cliche except for Shadow Hearts 2. If you like strategy RPGs, then I'd also recommend Growlanser Generations and both of the Disgaea games.
-
The Shadow Hearts series, I don't know if it could be considered cliche. It has its own uniqueness through it's battles via the judgement ring. The JR is what I love most about the series.
-
Fairly new, guys.
(Played those)
-
Well, there's certainly Persona 3, I heard Wild Arms XF was pretty good, Odin Sphere is far from cliche but it has a lot of fans…. I dunno, maybe Rogue Galaxy? That's a decent action RPG.
-
I don't know if it this is the right topic but oh well…
It's just that i want to know the Metal Gear Solid series better so I was wondering if its recommended to import the Metal Gear Series Essential Edition because I live in Sweden and I dont know wether there will be a European version of this game.
Also my Ps2 is chipped but one time i tried to play a Psone game and it didnt work so im worried if I can play Metal Gear Solid 1. -

MGS2 should already be in the bargain bin, but I don't know about Substance. I have a copy of the first game and wouldn't mind sending it to you (if I knew how). If the prices bother you or you really can't find one of the games, then you may want to consider importing the collection.
In what way is your PS2 chipped? It could be a problem if you tried to play MGS1 on it if the system is giving you the dreaded disc read errors.

Well, I didnt actually compare all of the games but at Play-Asia the collection costs 34.90$ which from what i've seen is cheaper then some of the separated games (i've seen MGS3 cost like 200-300kr which is something like 15-25$).
I do also keep in mind of the shipping so the total would probably cost at least 37$ or something.
And about the chip, I don't even remember what its name is (but I think i have the instructions somewhere) but only from what i've been informed is that I could play imported games (so far just japanese games) and burned games and it worked

Depending on the modchip, I think it might hamper your backwards compatibility with PS1 games. That's probably why a PS1 game didn't work before.
I live in the US, so my copy is NTSC-U/C. But considering the chip issue, I can't really say if it'll work or not either.
If it doesn't work out, I can only think of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for the GameCube as a replacement.@Tommy:

Depends on what you like. God of War: Chains of Olympus, Crisis Core: FFVII, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, the Grand Theft Auto Stories, and Monster Hunter are supposedly some solid action titles. Wild Arms XF, Jeanne D'Arc, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, and Final Fantasy Tactics are some strategical RPGs. You may also want to check out smaller or more quirky games like Patapon, Gitaroo Man Lives!, Lumines and its sequel, and Gunpey.
