His death could be his sad flashback… I suppose. Tragic death then cursed for enternality? I don't know. He is just too sudden.
Post All-Inclusive Things About Brooke In Here

I mentioned in the discussion thread that Brooke must've been a captain in his past life (if he really is dead), since he has a titan-sized ship with several chests and swords with an emblem of an afro skeleton on the main sail (indicating he was a captain).
He has the potential for a sad flashback… And the W7 arc went on for two years, so I'd be pretty happy to have someone join, even immediately.
-
Brooke, a man cursed with eternal life, was kicked off the CP9's squad 50 years ago, only to become a pirate with a crew that was completely murdered out of nowhere one day, he was beaten so badly that his skin and organs were useless and he was left down to his bones, he was left there on his ship floating in the triangle lost for 10 years, until the straw hats found him
powers: cant be killed, CP9 powers
anyway, I cant wait to see how he fights, I see him being a silly type that can really kick some ass, someone who people fear, but he is really a nice guy
sorta like the opposite of chopper
oh and anyone notice that the sail has brookes face on it?
he was a captainedit again, someone already noticed this ^^;
-
I don't understand when you say that Brooke could be the crewmember #10. Franky is #7, so Brooke would be #8…
And it's really too early to say anything for the moment, I think it's just something Luffy said, everything can happen in chapter 443. But I know the effects of One Piece, and I love Brooke though. But I'm pretty sure he won't come.
It's just too early... -
Brooke will either join them for good (just out of the blue, like Nico Robin), join them for a while or join them but betray them.
I wouldn't mind him joining, but I wouldn't want to see any more freaky characters for the next Straw Hat members (maybe one more after Brooke, but not as freaky).
Right now, I think he has some kind of connection with Mermain Island, which will develop into a plot about Brooke's history or something similar.
-
After all this Brooke hype, I have to say that I'm already getting kinda bored of him. He was cool when I first saw him, but now he's getting kinda lame…....
-
I don't think he will join but the possiblility is given, that oda wants to pull of a never-been-there-before scenario where someone joins instantly (he has already been hit by Nami so it's highly possible^^) and gets his developments afterwards. I see lotta people say he will be like Vivi but don't you think it would get boring if the same plot structure is used over and over again?
I would go for some possible theories:
He betrayes them by luring them into some trap the Triangle obviously has, I mean there were over 100 ships that went missing…
He leaves after 2 or 3 chapters because of whatever reason and MAYBE comes back some time within the triangle
He actually is a cursed Human whose curse is lifted by the strawhats and becomes normal afterwards, kinda like Aokiji (in terms of body) and joins them after this. It's not possible to say this is a fact at the moment but I think he's a musician(one of Oda's favorite musicians is named Brooke something) and a pervert, which we've been waiting for for a long time. I can't say it IS like this, this is just a possibility....
Or... -.- ... when they reach the end of the triangle he says: "I can't leave this place, but when you meet me in the future will you still be able to call me your nakama"
I think one of them is true... whatever.. Oda-sensei decides
-
Well, as long as we know that he can take dumps. Lol. Funny ish.
-
See, another reason I think he's Mr. 11 is because with Baroque Works defeated and Mr. 11 having been "Killed", it's entirely possible that "Brooke" has no home to go to. After all, who wants a very tall, perverted skeleton in their house? If he does join the crew, he'll have a helluva time walking into a town and intermingling, unless it exists that his human body DOES still work.
The weird thing is that Nami's not freaking out about being close to a skeleton. Remember the scene in Tsulala's stomach with the dead pirate captain?
And Oda DID say someone from Alabasta would appear later on down the road…
-
I am going to say something stupid but… what if he is a gentle Shichibukai that only pursues evil pirates inside Florian Triangle?
-

Why don't you think it's Aokiji…? or Van Auger? they're also tall... Maybe Van Auger was killed by Ace (!!theory!!)....
Come on you can't be serious about Mr.11!
Where did he get his boat from?
Why does he live in the form of a skeleton?
Why would he go to the Florian Triangle?
How come he said he didn't meet any livings for 10 years?I've got plenty more of these if you like
-
Where did he get his boat from?
Found it. It's not like these are modern boats with key locks.
Why does he live in the form of a skeleton?
Human form was killed. Notice "Brook" has a bullet wound in his forehead.
Why would he go to the Florian Triangle?
Nowhere else to go.
How come he said he didn't meet any livings for 10 years?
Pun. He's Mr. 11. 10-11.
I've got plenty more of these if you like
Knock yourself out.
-
I'd like to knock you out but I don't hit lil' earthworms
fantatista
-
Pun. He's Mr. 11. 10-11.
one hell of a pun
Nowhere else to go.
why not going to raftel then? must be a nice place to be
Edit: The others are even more stupid but not as funny as those two so I won't bother to answer.. ok darling?
Edit2:
Found it. It's not like these are modern boats with key locks.
OK but just one more… ....because I just found a warship right behind my neighbour's spacerocket
Edit3:Agnnnnn I just can't withstand it =)
I know the truth:! It's you, Brook, because you've been shot in the head big time!
-
one hell of a pun
You probably don't have a great grasp of Japanese anymore than I do. There's probably a double meaning Japanese that neither of us understand. Oda does a lot of puns.

I shouldn't even have to answer this one…

Okay, dude, if you wanna act like a preschooler, be my guest.

First part(serious):

You know what a pun is do you? I he had said 11years ago I would have said ooooooooooooooooooooooook but 10 and 11 is NOT a pun oh my almighty punisher!

I shouldn't even have to answer this one…You have to answer this one because behind this hell of a mysteria there is the question:" Why not going anywhere else?"

Okay, dude, if you wanna act like a preschooler, be my guest.Oh I thought I was the only preschooler here… let's merry!
No but seriously dude you got me crying there !
Where did you get THESE SKILLS to hit people into the core of their heart? -
Dude, grow up. If you don't agree with my theory, fine. But flaming is just childish.
Oda didn't write One Piece to be extremely complicated. If he says someone from Alabasta will be appearing later on, then Mr. 11 is a possibility. After all, why create a character just to kill it off immediately?
-
I think Usopp is related too.
-
And Gaimon. But he has a green afro so he must be a descendant.
-
I don't think he'll be a permanent crewmember. Personally I'm betting on something that prevents him from leaving the Florian Triangle, but I could be wrong as I don't think they officially entered the Triangle yet.
-
lol, internet fights.
As for the people saying they are getting "sick" of said character because there are people posting too many threads and constantly discussing him…
That's ridiculous! How about you decide whether you like the character yourself instead of letting other people decided for you, by making threads about the character no less. Lawl
-
BROOKE RULES! HE IS NOW OFFICALLY MY 2ND FAVORITE ONE PIECE MEMBER! (he beat Kaku!)
-
Lol at the fight between FFA and random guy. The situation remains the same before and after.
I'm just going to wait 'till next chapter before I say anything. For all we know Brooke might say "No actually, I changed my mind" and collapse into a pile of bones.
-
I see a connection between AoKiji and Brooke, but it's common for an artist to make some of their general characters similar, especially ones we do not see very oftenly.
-
maybe he ate the "immortal fruit",
lol how can one be alive 10 years w/o humans beside him? -

It's no fight. I'm just bored and I needed some amusement.
I get the feeling you're going along the same lines I am. Once Brook is avenged, he falls apart.
-
I cant believe I'm saying this but… its not impossible to see him join permanently.
I mean, who expected Robin to join after Alabasta? -
Um, well considering they showed her in the opening before she joined, quite a few people.
-
They only thing that I can think of that Brooke and Kuzan have in common is height, poofy hair, and they were introduced in the same style. The way they flirted with Nami is dif'rent, though.
-
@Impel:

Uh, the manga is published about a year before the anime episode comes out.
-

Same to me =)
..but I'm not random I'm G-G-G-Greato
-
It's best to just wait until the next chapter. :) He seems cool and amusing so far, but the whole new arc has just barely even begun! He's probably going to be an arc companion, but Oda will show us what Brook's about eventually.
It would be cool if the Strawhats got a new nakama from the Florian Triangle! But we'll just have to wait and see. -
I think brooke is a lead to an arc and a crewmate much like Vivi who introduced robin to the crew, Brooke will lead to a crew member who i hope is a female cuz this ship is turning into a penis feast.
-
Oda can really be great at times!
… and this Brooke thing for me is such a time:- the whole spontanous recruiting scene in one panel reads like a wonderful ironic reference to the 2 YEAR uncertainty of Frankys joining. It really leaves me laughing (and a bit relieved:happy:)
- Brooke definitly is a character who would top the other crew in weirdness (once again).
- the speculation about him beeing the musican would be absolutely to the point. I mean, just imagine: Death playing the fiddle for the strawhats!! (Death - symbolized by a skeleton - as musician was not uncommon in medieval art)
- I´d love to see a bounty poster for him. Would they write "DEAD or ALIVE"?? - both ridiculous and impossible….
As you can easily guess from the above I´d really like him to join permanently.
-
Holy geez can we all shut up about Brook. There's like five threads about the guy. @_@ This mob-mentality about OMG BROOK SO AWESOME is seriously turning me off him. Sheesh.
No I do not think he will stay for good.
im with u man, isnt luffy asking everyone to join his crew >.>
Brooke is like any char he meat in GL… that guy with afroo "Fillers" this is luffy ...
-

just thinking about that had cracked me up!
it would probably just have to say "WANTED" on it!anyway, i hope he does join!
-
ok, random theory out of my ass time.
i think brooke will stay permanently with the strawhats. it's a chopper kind of thing, luffy asked him to join because he's skeleton. and he's gonna fill the musician spot. :)
as for his past, my theory is that he was the beloved captain of that ship, but when they entered the triangle, the whole crew was exterminated by whatever exists there, and he was the only one to survive the massacre because he ate the bones fruit (he practically can't be killed, can seperate his bones, use them as weapons, etc.). since then he has vagued the triangle, sorrowful for his lost crew, until he met the strawhats.
the reason i think he isn't cursed or anything is because oda said that he wasn't including any magic in the manga (don't ask me to find this, it's in a Q&A), and i think a curse qualifies as magic.
also, i think he will be a great help to the strawhats, for he will be an exstremely efficient weapon in making the enemy crap his pants :P. just see what he did to the strawhats, that can be put to good use!
(you can mock me if you want)
-
My brain says Brooke will turn out to be an enemy in the next chapters. All this "flashbomb" things, with the ship suddenly appearing…looks like a trap to me.
Brooke would have the basic qualities required for a SH member (he's weird, he is the skeleton after the mutant and the cyborg , etc...and he has a typical nationality like all other crew members except Luffy) . So, my hearth says he joins. But I still think it's a trap.
-
i don't think brooke's gonna stay.
i think he's rad as fuck, but not staying. We'll see, though.
-
I dont think he will stay but I wouldnt actually mind a character just hopping on the boat for once without some big dramatic build up or an arc of his own.. Just join early and let him develop in time.. That is something I would like to see but once again I dont think it will happen..
And I think there is something with the Florian triangle that would prevent him from leaving but oh well
-

Ah..! He can scare the crap outta people! Forgot that.
That's totally cool. I mean, a soldier seeing an Afro skeleton can only 1) rush at him like mad and get blasted, or 2) collapse.Seeing him walking on the road will be like a zombie Shanks. =)

1. Brooke is a baka. He asks about panties and answers that he can take a dump. He isn't smart or clever, and that's why I think he's a good guy. He even makes a joke after Nami kicks him in the head, and just falls over.
2. Luffy has already hinted at skeletons when they were first talking about ghost ships, so there has been some hint. And the fact that he's singing is perfect. He was probably the musician on the crew, I bet. Luffy has always talked about getting a musician, and an ancient guy like Brooke would probably know all sorts of good songs from back in the day. And just like how people made fun of him wanting a musician, they make fun of him talking about skeletons. His role is already clear, and you just have to love the guy.
3. He may know a lot of history, and a bunch of secrets or information that can help the crew. Just like how chopper can talk to animals, Brooke may be able to talk to ghosts or spirits. He could actually end up being invaluable.
4. I will punch Oda if he doesn't make Brooke permenant. I need to see him in the final scene, just looking like the coolest baka skeleton you've ever seen.
-
All this talk about Brooke does make the idea of an undead joining more appealing. Even if it's not Brooke.
Think about various undead monsters, and the possibilities…
A ghost? A Frankenstein? Some mixture of them all? Who knows.
It'd have even more possibilities then a cyborg....
-
I wouldn't mind Brooke joining at all. Sounds good to me.
I wonder how old he is…
-
Hmmmm… He's Usopp's grandfather.
-
if the fan reaction in japan is anything like it is here i think he'll join regardless…
-
-
One thing that bothers me about Brook is the line, "Bink's Drink… sent". Did he mean sent to the gods, or is he working for someone to betray the Strawhats?
The whole thing reeks of Lyserg from Shaman King.
-
What if Bink is the name of Brooke's former captain, who sent the drink to try to please the gods so that he could escape from the Florian Triangle? Then, by opening the thing, the Strawhat's signalled the ship, and freed the crew? Yaaaay!

Sorry, the world isn't roses and cotton candy.
But then again, we have a cheerful, talking skeleton that can apparently crap.
