Once blood+ is gone there's no reason to watch anime on AS anyway
E-Mail CN about their Canceling/Temp Removing of One Piece!!
-
-
The only truly good aspects of AS's comedy is Futurama (now gone), Venture Bros, Sealab (tho it's getting quite boring, getting because it's back after a few years of being off the air), and to a lesser extent Family Guy…but that series is nothing like it use to be.
All in all, I dunno where CN is going with itself anymore.

I'll tell you where they're going. Down the crapper. They have no idea what they want to do with themselves anymore. In just over a month we've gone from an all-anime Saturday to one with the worst picks for time slots ever. And ironically, the ratings are even worse than the all-anime ones were. Now they've made a major change to the schedule for the third time in a month, and in doing so have expelled a staple of they're block for years. Who knows, maybe they'll switch it back in a week or two to the old schedule. All I know is, the fact that they keep zig-zagging all around indicates they have no real strategy anymore.
-
Who the heck wants to stay up that late?
Depends on if you have somewhere to be early in the morning, your going to be out for the night, or your parents or small boy metabolism won't let you
stay up that late.Except back when Zatch Bell was on Toonami, it got higher ratings than 4Piece did…
The only reason they cancelled it was to focus on Naruto (yeah, VIZ is a terrible company like that).Even if you don't like them their series are generally better than Funimation.
Yes, it's a kids show in Japan, but both countries go by different broadcast standards. Here, if it ran uncut, it'd be considered a teen/adult show. That's the sad truth.
I mean, heck, Bleach is airing on Adult Swim, and that's just as much of a kids show as One Piece is.
Yea I'll remember to tell Ichigo, Renji, & Kenpachi what you said the next time their blood is getting spilt on screen.
Sorry, I just don't care for the series. Only reason I ever give it a glance nowadays is for a tad bit of nostalgia (it's not very large, cause it wasn't that long ago) of AS's creation.
-
The word "kid show" sure gets thrown around a lot.
Perhaps you ought to set a definition for it. Or take it further, define a "kid".
-
What's there to describe?
A show aimed for kids, but that can also attract other audiences. That's basically what One Piece and most other shonen are.
-
One Piece's Classification is actually a bit complicated (to me at least).
It's a Kid/Preteen Comic/show with smarter humor added to make it appealing to all ages. By Japanese Standards.
But it is, at least by American standards, a Teen show. That's why the MPAA Rated the Movie PG13.
It's the amounts of blood and the smoking, and the alcohol drinking, That's why CN asks FUNi to edit it. and It's some of those things that add to the style that makes some people like it.
For Example, the "Blood Hardens Sand too" scene. -
@Lobster:
It's going to be "ultra" lame edited. No face shots. Only "implied" hits
yea.. if they edit it like they do the TV series, then it's going to be painful to watch.
Careful, Ao Kiji could quote you and use that to express his negativity to the WHOLE DUB.
-
@Sandai:
Yea I'll remember to tell Ichigo, Renji, & Kenpachi what you said the next time their blood is getting spilt on screen.
Like One Piece doesn't have that too..?
Careful, Ao Kiji could quote you and use that to express his negativity to the WHOLE DUB.
Then Charagonizard will join in, and we'll have a flame and ice war
-
Well, I define "kid shows" as those programs that are actually aiming to educate children in some way…..
meanwhile, shows like most Cartoons are just aimed to All Audiences. It's more a thing of interests and the time slots what affects the audience that will actually watch them.
-
@Lobster:
Like One Piece doesn't have that too..?
Aye that it does.
-
One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach are aimed at younger audiences in Japan. Like TV-Y7 here. This is nothing new. Different cultures, different standards.
AS will probably have their anime back soon. They have schedule changes as often as a teenage girl has her period.
-
Well.. obviously some things aren't aimed at kids.

Have you ever caught an episode of Code: Lyoko?
-
Take a look at this guys. I'm not sure if this would be of any significance, but here's something about March 29th (CST times). Toonami has 4 hours?
-
Nope. They're just airing the Naruto movie again. It'll be back to "normal" the following week, probably.
Seems like One Piece is going off the air one week before it was originally planned… Hmm...
Well, I suppose we'll stay hopeful... But if things don't happen the way we want them to...
Just don't be surprised. Be mad, yes... But not surprised.
-
So, we are getting one FUNi episode and one 4kids episode instead of two? That works, The Legend of the Pirate hunter is probably the most bearable episode of the 4kids dub.
-
Well, if that's the way you wanna look at it, then yeah. ^_^;
-
I still wanna see it because of all the talk I heard about Mountain Whale Dick.
-
Ah… someone spread these rumors on Toonzone cause those guys are going all doom and gloom; they need to brighten up a bit.
-
Well, they are on the Toonami forum but that's just how we've been for months now since a lot of us grew up on Toonami and let's face it, it use to be an awesom bloc before it was…neglected.
-
Have you ever caught an episode of Code: Lyoko?
It always shocked me how much female skin they showed on there. Especially since all the girls are 12 years old.
-
It's from France, what'd you expect? Then again, Totally Spies was too and you barely saw skin in that.
Not that I would know.
-
Don't even get me started on Totally Spies
I could go on for days about that..
We all could
-
My sister loves Totally spies and Code Lyoko. I was only able to get interested in Lyoko though.
-
French anime is French.

Since it seems that Funi knew nothing about this then it can't be that they requested a break for time. So, really, WTF Cartoon Network? You take of One Piece and DBZ to promote your new shows or w/e instead of just taking of DBZ and one of your Naruto episodes? One Piece already has been dealt a serious blow because of the 4Kids dub and now with a break for who knows how long it won't help a bit. I really hope this turns out to be fake.
-

Even if that may be the case where's the guarantee that Funimation won't or wouldn't do the same thing they did with DragonBall to One Piece.
instead of just taking of DBZ and one of your Naruto episodes?
DBZ can go and thankfully it will, still don't what the hell possessed Cartoon Networkto pull one of Funi's turds out of the toilet.

You really can't put all the blame on 4Kids anymore, there's bit more blame to serve around.
-

There's no guarantee at all.

It's a good show to fill a 30-minute block, hell I'd watch reruns of DBZ before reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh GX or Gash Bell.

Ah, I never said they had all the blame, I said it was "dealt a huge blow".
-
FUNi's DBZ is a turd? Ooooookay. Personal opinion I guess.
-

.Personally I'd prefer Yugioh GX or Gash Bell considering that it's impossible for anyone to have not seen any of the episodes since CN ran them so much back in the day.
-
Honestly, it just really sucks that One Piece doesn't seem to have any chance at success here in the states. Every time I think we've turned a corner, something always comes up that crushes everything. If CN really has pulled a Yu Yu Hakusho on us, that will most certainly screw up everything Funimation's worked for.
-

The YGO GX dub is terrible, hell the original isn't that great. I could go to college to learn how to play a childrens card game.. Or just read a 60 page hand book. I couldn't care less if DBZ replaced it. I dunno about Gash Bell though. From what I gather, it aint that great either. None of those shows are great. We need One Piece and another good damn show to fill the block. Blue Dragon, 2 Naruto's and One Piece are just fine. Yeah, I want those two Naruto's. I'm a fan of the series' and the dub, and want the fillers to end faster. God forbid.
Anyway, I agree with Gary. It's a shame, but One Piece will just never be very popular here. But you can still treasure the series' for yourself, hope it's sucessful enough to continue DVD releases and video games, and try to get people you know into it. =/

I concur. It's ashame when a good series that's done well in the long-run is pulled into infinite hiatus for no apparent reason. I think when VIZ saw that it wasn't more than a modest success (it got good ratings but it's not like the merchandise was selling that great) they just put it on the shelf. And I guess Cartoon Network felt the same way, which is why they didn't order more episodes. I wish they'd at least release the movie.
And again, stop overreacting people. "One Piece" isn't going away.
-

If we're talking about the new dub with MFing Chris Sabat hmm pretty much.
-
It doesn't help that the Dragon Ball Z anime wasn't that great to begin with… (Hasn't read the manga).
It worked when I was little and all I needed was energy blast and people beating the mess out of each other but now it's just bleck

Manga sux ass only thing it's good for is seeing Bulma's breasts nothing else.

I grew up on DBZ, I don't care if people think it sucks now. Wanna fight about it?!
-

I read the GX manga and have to say it's entertaining but then I turn on the dub and it's like "what the hell is this?". If they had a competent dub of GX I wouldn't mind it in place of DBZ but since they don't then bring on the 15 episode fights.
As for Gash Bell…....it doesn't seem like a series I'd enjoy. I'll check out the manga someday as I at least read a few chapters of a series before deciding if it's for me or not but for right now I can't really say I enjoy it (yes I've seen a few dub episodes).
-

Firecrouch, with all due respect, neither side exactly knows what's going to happen.
-
FUNimation spent millions on One Piece. MILLIONS!!! They are not going to drop it after just one year.
-
I think that if it WERE canceled, we would've seen a press release or something by now.
I'm sure they're just busy pumping out the next batch of episodes for Cartoon Network, while balancing the dubbing of the early episodes for DVD release.
That's a lot of freaking One Piece to deal with, I'm sure that if the ratings were sucking, we wouldn't be seeing box set one so soon.
-

But they said that they'd already gotten to the Chopper/Getatsu-fight. And that was last year. I'm pretty sure they've finished Skypeia by now.
I think the most logical explaination is that it's been 52 weeks since the last break, so CN is taking another one, being that they don't consider the FUNi-dub to be any different from the 4Kids-dub. -

Obviously not, because we don't see one..
And we're cancelled.
(maybe)

Um, you do know that the manga was started after the anime right?
So, dub or not, they're gonna seem different. (Even though the dub does seem like a completely new show. >.>)
@Vegard:

I'm going to go with this theory, makes sense to me. =)
-
@Vegard:
But they said that they'd already gotten to the Chopper/Getatsu-fight. And that was last year. I'm pretty sure they've finished Skypeia by now..
When I asked Mike about this a couple weeks ago he said he was going right along with "Recording season 3" then when asked what exactly season 3 was I was told that Toei considers season 3 to be the Skypiea arc.
Season three for OP is considered by TOEI to be the Skypeia arc-stuff. Not the usual 13 ep anime series season (or as some people believe, the 24 to 27 episode seasons).
This would indicate to me that they aren't finished with it yet. I'm GUESSING they took a break from Skypiea to do the Season 1 DVDs but I didn't ask. That could also explain the break in episodes on Cartoon Network, though.
-
So they're still dubbing Skypiea? Wow, I was under the impression they were done. (I may have been the one to start that little rumor, too…)

I do remember that someone _who went to the convention said that they reached the 170's and that was way back.
Also, I still think we're going on hiatus because CN wants to let some shows get the spotlight for a while.
Hopefully, in May or june we'll see One piece again._
