LOST Season 4 *Spoilers Abound!*
-
I was just… huh? That's weird.
-
and why do I get the feeling im being ignored here?
Because you are being ignored.
LOL!! That's the glibbest retort ever. You are the man, stephen! ^^
-
I still hate Ben; that is all.
What're your thoughts on the 30 minute delay of the rocket? My guess is the island is prob. surrounded by some barrier or field that causes time to slow down or such.
-
I wouldve guessed 5-10 minutes would be enough, but I think 30 is a litle too much.
-
@ Lobolover:
Why would it be too much? We even don't KNOW what's about the 30-minutes-difference. So how can you possibly say, it's too much, when you just don't fucking know what's even up with it, what's causing it or why there is even a difference…? You are pretending like you know something, we others don't.
EDIT: My bad, wrong choice of one specific word... XP still, it's the same. You're all getting the meaning.
-
"ACTING" like that?As in "predenting" ?

just got this confirmed-our TV broadcasters say "it would be unfair" for them to "show the viewers something they couldn't finish watching" and so will wait for the season to be finished…...........
so basicly they say they are going to make this whole country see the first episode 8-9 MONTHS,AFTER EVERYONE ELSE and they want us to be THANKFULL for it ?
-
This show continues to rock ass. Just…yeah.
So here's the thing. Daniel is 27.3 different flavors of awesome. He's an entirely different character than what I expected from his role in the promos and...it's such a pleasant surprise to see an entirely unique and unexpected personality added to the group. That said, he's being kind of flakey but he definitely knows his shit. Which is why when he's worried, I'm worried. So here's the thing. He's no dummy. I think he expected the rocket to be slower, but not THAT slow. Which leads me to believe, since time does appear to be a factor, the rate at which it 'slows down' as compared to the outside while on the island increases as one spends time there and only continues to do so exponentially hence:
1. His concern.
2. Telling Frank to stay on course 'no matter what'. In other words, even if it takes far longer than expected.I love this show.
-
Eggtown isnt out yet,is it?

I love this show.OHhhh…don't get me started ,bro.
I absolutley adore the guy. In a matter of two episodes, he skyrocketed to my all-around favorite characters. Not only does he bring such awesome shit to the table story-wise..but..get this...he's actually damn LIKEABLE. Seriously, despite being an awkward mess to the most boiling degree, I've already grown attached to him through his minute interactions and observations with everything around him..living or not.
(The great acting between him and the pilot together also helps.)
Anyways, lovely season so far. From what I hear, the next episode's also supposed to have an amazing ending. (As if that's a surprise by now...man.)
-
I really like all the new characters, too. I was really sour on Naomi because she, like the hot couple that got buried alive earlier in the last season, was exactly like all the other characters—smart-alecky, cocky, sarcastic—and it was getting very tiring. While I still don't like her characterization, I think it makes a lot more sense in the proper perspective. Compared to the four others, she's the one in charge, with the military training and the chops to back up her attitude, etc.
Daniel's kind of irritating but in a funny, endearing way. Miles' actor (Ken Leung) plays the fiery part really well, the pilot just seems laid-back and cool (like your favorite uncle that everyone else said was just a lazy drunk fuckup), and the archaeologist is sort of silly and naive. It's a good mix and a lot more interesting than the other relatively recent characters.
-
So I'm pretty much caught up with LOST. Pretty decent show overall. It's pretty silly but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't addicting.
Ben and Locke are my favorite characters overall, yeah.
-
It's pretty silly
Compared to what? Save the cheerleader save the world?
-
Yeah, pretty much.
I'd say I like Heroes better for that reason, it's more of a comic book type show to begin with, while LOST is.. eh.
I like both, if that counts for anything.
-
I'd say I like Heroes better for that reason, it's more of a comic book type show to begin with, while LOST is.. eh.
Heroes is like a comic book written by someone with Alzheimer's.
They can't remember what they introduced 5 minutes ago.
I reiterate the words from a brilliant post I read on DarkUFO:
But when the dust settles at the end of this week, the truth is that the biggest difference is how the two shows treat their fans. I’d rather have Lindelof and Cuse think of me as so smart that they can throw in tiny hints and also little bits of disinformation to keep me guessing over Kring thinking his fans are too stupid to be able to deal with actual shock or excitement.
It's like comparing Twin Peaks to Brisco County Jr., both are 'fantastic' takes on reality. One was written as throwaway action and adventure that is really just a bunch of silly shit happening that's funny if you paid attention in high school history. And the other is a show that basically sat down their audience and said, "We know you want a challenge. So here."
-
see here's the thing
none of that really matters to me. I like both shows because they're somewhat entertaining. (I'm not saying Heroes is the greatest show ever either, both have some pretty shitty parts)
i also didn't realize heroes and LOST were exactly "I'M WHAT EVERY OTHER PIECE OF FICTION WANTS TO BE- BUT CAN'T!" "NO, I AM!" (fans aside, and that may be another part of it, i usually make a point of avoid forums discussing either show, as fanboys are irritating) Both of them are pretty fucking silly. Does that make them bad? No, not really.
-
I finally caught up with this show yesterday, just in time for the new episode tomorrow. I dropped out for a while near the end of season 2.
What's your guys' overall favorite episode?
Personally I loved "Greatest Hits" probably because I was a big Charlie fan.
-
Greatest Hits was really good. The Season 3 Finale though…I dunno. I dunno if you can top that reveal. I mean, I was blown out of my chair on both the Season 2 and 3 openers but THAT was a freaking game-changer.
-
The last few episodes of season 3 was just some really great TV in general, probably the most I've enjoyed an American TV show in a while.
I'm just glad I watched it all at once, because if I'd had to wait a week between episodes it most likely would have drove me crazy
-
Yeah, pretty much.
I'd say I like Heroes better for that reason, it's more of a comic book type show to begin with, while LOST is.. eh.
I like both, if that counts for anything.
Heroes is too fucking cliche, and if anything, it looks like a fucking X-Men rip-off. The whole 'we's got these powers SO LET'S TRY TO HELP MAKE TEH WORLD A BETTER PLACE!' is so 8-year old-ish. Hiro sucks BTW, I was hoping to like him but he acts with the fantasies of an 8-year old.
Sylar's cool tho. -
They're both cliche as fuck though.
-
I can't seem to recall much cliche stuff from LOST, but like what Greg posted- "We know you want a challenge. So here." that gives a good idea of what LOST offers.
-
LOL I'm sorry dude, but LOST really ISN'T CLICHE… I wasn't that often able to really foresee things, which are going to happen and stuff (only the mid-tier of season 3 was something like a wuzzy... too predictable things, like Locke's father being the real Sawyer and stuff), but besides that Lost really ISN'T riding the cliches... And I think, I have enoug of that kind of experience with movies and shows... Believe me... XP
Also... Heroes is not written at ALL like a COMICBOOK. I'm reading comics for over 10 years now (and big-time-style, preferrably Marvel), and IF comics would be a dumb-fuck as heroes is, it would be among marvel-comics, wouldn't it?
Have you ever read stories of brian k. vaughn, or drew goddard? Well, we both know them from LOST, and I LOVED the show Buffy - the Vampire Slayer (Drew Goddard), but see, Brian K. Vaughn is also an comicbook-writer, and I LOVED his run on the comic "Runaways".
Also, you should give yourself some comics of the genius Ed Brubaker, or J.M. Straczynski, for instance (Yeah, that's the guy who wrote for Babylon 5, and The Real Ghostbusters), and you WILL see, that Greg's right, and Heroes is really just not compareable to real comicwriting. -
Eh, the first two seasons were pretty stale to me. Well, 2 got pretty good halfway in, but before that it was pretty boring. Season 3 is pretty nice stuff though. As in it not being cliche.. it must just be me but nothing really blew me away with originality. But it's entertaining, and that's all I ask for. That's why I like both a decent amount.
I didn't mean it was written like a comic book, I just meant it's supposed to have a comic book vibe to it. (I think I've read posts before bitching about them saying corny stuff that comes right out of a comic book. No shit.) Again, I'm not saying Heroes is the greatest thing since ever (hell, it's not even one of my favorite shows) It's just weird to see a lot of people bitch about it when LOST is the same in some ways.
-

It's just weird to see a lot of people bitch about it when LOST is the same in some ways.
Lost doesn't insult its audience.
I'll never forget the moment I gave up on Heroes.
Sylar was tied down to a chair and his super powers were disabled by an IV that was blocking him from controlling metallic objects ie. his super powers in general.
So how did he escape from this situation? He used his powers of controlling metal to turn the plastic IV stopper to prevent his powers from being blocked allowing him to free himself.
Apparently the writers forgot that:
A. His powers were being blocked.
B. Plastic isn't the same as metal.Seriously. LOST never blatantly insulted me like that. It does have characters that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high strung, but the purpose of that is to create a believable scenario for what transpires later in the episode with respect to personal motivations etc. Usually on a first, second or third viewing I might find something out of place but eventually I see, "Oh they put that in there to make part X make sense.", as opposed to Heroes and many other shows that just seem to be doing shit to waste time.
Heroes is a perfectly good television show. Which is to say, that's why shows like it are exactly why I stopped watching TV outside of Family Guy and South Park a few years ago. In many ways you're right, Heroes is precisely like reading an American pulp comic. LOST is like reading an adult suspense manga that takes no prisoners.
-
this post just cemented me never picking up Heroes. Also, visualy,it seems prety dum.
-

How can you say it looks visually dumb from Greg's opinion of something story related? Or were you just trying to find an excuse to bash a show you obviously have never watched?
-
I have seen bits. And heard people put it down.
-
Watch the first season and get back to me on that.
-
Don't put Heroes down just cause you like Lost.
And Season 2 sucked cause… the writers strike. Seriously, every episode was really predictable and boring. Same thing happened with Prison Break. Two of my favorite shows I probably like them more then Lost were put to shit cause of the writers strike. I still can't believe they managed to freaking escape Sona within two episodes. And it's gone down even further shit with the season finale. Heroes at least has some room to fix itself.
Be glad Lost didn't get the same treatment.

Um, since when can Syler control metal? He has telepathy. Just throwing that out there.
Yeah season 2 sucked pretty hard in a lot of ways, the last episode almost made up for it though. I don't really see why LOST and heroes is always compared anyway. one is about random fucks who have super powers and the other is random fucks in an airplane crash.

Heroes was called NBC's answer to ABC's Lost.
I'd blame it on the cliffhanger at the end of every episode. Well Season 2 didn't have those, but every Season 1 episode had me wanting much more. remembers Hiro popping up from the future in episode 3
I'd go ahead and say Prison Break is Fox's answer to Lost. All three of them are similar in the way they tell their stories, and except for Lost's flashback thing, they're all pretty similar.
And I'm pretty sure there was an explanation for why Sylar got out of that situation, I just don't remember.
-
Don't put Heroes down just cause you like Lost.
I'm not. I'm criticizing because its unoriginal. Uninspiring. Doesn't promote thought. Continually MEETS expectations instead of exceeding them. And….the acting leaves much to be desired, not to mention their visual sets. I'm not talking about effects. TV visual effects are something I'm totally willing to forgive. Their sets and locations leave much to be desired, ESPECIALLY when occurring in foreign locales. And the writing....the writing. Anyone else find it odd that Hiro mastered the art of sword fighting during his free time in the afternoon in the back room of a store?
Heroes is for all intensive purposes, a typical television show. It's made for the average Joe and can be appreciated by just about anyone of any age.
I'm not putting it down because I like LOST, I'm criticizing it for being a typical show that doesn't bring anything new to the table while insulting the intelligence of viewers.
Seriously, every episode was really predictable and boring.
And see, this is what terrifies me. Because that's exactly what I thought about Season 1, which is why Season 2 must have really been horse shit.
Um, since when can Syler control metal? He has telepathy. Just throwing that out there.
Oh I'm sorry. He used his telepathy that was being blocked to free himself from having his telepathy blocked.
I don't really see why LOST and heroes is always compared anyway.
There isn't any reason to compare them. There's simply no ground to do so. They're on entirely different scales both professionally and story-wise. I'm simply amazed at the attention and praise it gets. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking it, I just don't understand how people are capable of such a feeling.
Seriously, every episode was really predictable and boring. Same thing happened with Prison Break.
Prison Break is the proof that I don't put down other shows because I like LOST. Season 1 of Prison Break is without a break the greatest season of television I have ever seen. It was an AMAZING story that moved at breakneck pace. I don't mind methodical paces for stories [LOST] so long as I know the payoff will be great. But with Prison Break, the story was always moving forward when you least expected it to! When you expected it to spend 2 episodes performing a certain task suddenly a wrench gets thrown in the plans and they have 10 minutes to fix it. It is one of the most solidly written and thought through yarns I've ever seen on any screen and as far as suspense and excitement, its Season 1 is on par with Seasons 1 AND 2 of LOST.
The quality has increasingly gone down since Season 2 and parts of Season 3 were just laughable not to mention introducing a bunch of new characters I don't give a shit about. Gretchen anyone?
Then there's LOST, which in its 3rd season finale, took a story and method that worked just perfectly fine and flipped it on its own goddamned head. That's professional story-telling.
-
my post was directed at lobo, since he's never really watched heroes, and just seemed to hop on the bandwagon.
I thought season 2 of Prison Break wasn't that bad, actually pretty exciting if you ask me. Mahone and Scoffield's collisions reminded me of L and Light's interactions. Only part of Season 2 I hated was Abbruzi's death, the guy was fucking awesome.
Season 3 put the plot to shit though. Seriously, it took everything great about Season 1, and condensed it into 13 shitty episodes. Everyone and their mom joining in on the escape worked well in Season 1, but not in Season 3.
SONA was an awesome concept though. Too bad it's pretty much done with. I even wonder if T-Bag, Bellick and Sucre's storylines are over. There's like.. nowhere to go with them anymore.
-
I thought season 2 of Prison Break wasn't that bad, actually pretty exciting if you ask me.
Season 2 was good. It wasn't great. Season 2 literally put me to sleep in the middle despite having an interesting start. Then of course the second half was fantastic, but all-around it just can't compare to Season 1.
Sona was a FANTASTIC concept and it looked like it was on an awesome track with Michael figuring shit out and trying to gain the trust/respect of the prisoners.
But when it starts introducing shit like guards shooting RATS at NIGHT and then somehow missing a gigantic lid being raised up with people running, it's just absurd. Not to mention, what happened to the 'shoot first' ask later attitude of the guards that we saw early on? That's poor story-telling and writers either forgetting or neglecting the rules of their own universe just to advance the story. It just got really boring with 'Michael's Escape Plan of the Week Gets Shat On!' concept that never came together or went ANYWHERE remotely interesting.
Here's what Prison Break needs to do:
Banish the following words from the script: LJ, Mariecruz.
If I hear Sucre say her fucking name one more time -_-
They need to murder T-Bag. His venemous and horrifying nature has vanished.
Bellick needs to grow a pair and get back to his old self which he was awesome at portraying.
Lincoln needs to vanish. He did a great job making that plan but he just drags shit down.
Get rid of the Spanish chick. She continues the Prison Break trend of being an annoying as shit female love interest that can't act. Sara was a great character but, we know where that ended up.
Gretchen is annoying as shit with her unrealistic and unbelievable boring as hell threats.
GET OUT OF A FOREIGN COUNTRY. It's so obvious when they aren't shooting in a foreign country in fact its so obvious it looks laughable. Anyone remember that scene from 'PANAMA' where you could SEE THEIR BREATH in Season 2? Plus you've got all these South Americans speaking perfect English and not just to English-speaking characters, BUT TO ONE ANOTHER IN PRIVATE.
LOST had to deal with this with Sayid but at least they attempted to do a nifty little 'transition' effect which said directly to the viewer, hey, he can't speak this language but we're gonna phase and transition so he's speaking in English but you're supposed to think he's speaking in a foreign language. Perfect? No. Professional? Yes. But when you've got actors that should be able to speak the language, throw some goddamned subs up! God, even Heroes is doing it after LOST started the trend.
Prison Break is becoming (perhaps it's already become) another Heroes, which is to say, yet another TV show. I continue to watch it in hopes that sometime the writers will find their way and take it from being average to great again.
-
This just in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CANE IS CANCELLED!
-
Oh I'm sorry. He used his telepathy that was being blocked to free himself from having his telepathy blocked.
I don't really see why that is a surprise, I mean the guy did basically use them to stop his heart to convince them he was dead before. (And even if shit is blocking his power he's done it before, so..) It's not as big of a stretch as you're making it.
Heroes is for all intensive purposes, a typical television show. It's made for the average Joe and can be appreciated by just about anyone of any age.
see heres another thing. I think one of the reasons I also like Heroes a bit better is because it's not trying to be "THE MOST EPIC DRAMA STORY TELLING EVER," it's about a bunch of random fucks who get super powers, it's not going to change any lives. and I don't think it's trying to. (Commercials and previews and shit aside, the marketing for these shows is silly as hell so I pretty much ignore it)
I also don't see where you're getting "insulting the intelligence of the viewer" stuff from. I've never been watching it and then pause it, throw my hands up in the air and go "WELL FUCK THESE GUYS ARE JUST TALKING DOWN TO ME TIME TO WATCH LOST" but yeah.
So I'm buying season 3 on Blu-ray, anyone else have it?
-

Yeah it makes perfect sense that he used his super powers that were being blocked to stop his super powers from being blocked. I don't know what I was missing.
and I don't think it's trying to.
I totally agree.
I was doing just that so much I had to stop watching the show. I kept watching for a while because of how much hype it was getting and I genuinely tried to get into it but I kept watching it thinking to myself all the while, "Really?…...reaaaally?", in awe of how it was completely ignoring its own story.
So I'm buying season 3 on Blu-ray, anyone else have it?
I want it very much but I keep holding out wishing that there's a collector's super set someday.
-
Does anyone else think
! The "Him" Kate mentioned to Jack at the airport is her son, too?
-
! I think Sawyer would be the most obvious answer and is therefore probably incorrect. A lot of people online think she might have adopted Aaron for some reason
-
Yeah it makes perfect sense that he used his super powers that were being blocked to stop his super powers from being blocked. I don't know what I was missing.
Just saying, he's defied shit before, don't see why it's a surprise now.
I was doing just that so much I had to stop watching the show. I didn't really go into either Heroes or LOST with any expectations in mind and generally ignore the hype a show gets. Or at least I try to. and Heroes I generally thought was "ok" until midway into season 1, where it got pretty good for me. Season 2 was mostly shit but we've been there. I'm hoping season 3 can be better.
So I guess different strokes for different folks then. Or whatever the saying is.
I want it very much but I keep holding out wishing that there's a collector's super set someday.
Yeah that's what I was thinking but sadly I don't possess very much patience.
So a new one airs tonight right? Any idea when torrents usually show up? I'd watch it on TV but the HD box thing is coming in tomorrow and watching as it is now is like trying to watch it through an N64.
-
Compared to what? Save the cheerleader save the world?
Not even all the forces from this bend of the globe over could've made Greg let that slip.
Now…look at what has...
-
well another oceanic 6 is revealed
! Aaron
i thought he was gonna be one but i dont like it cuz he was to obvious a choice -
I guess they decided to reveal a WTF moment at the end of every flashforward. I thought for sure that Kate really was pregnant. But, Aaron? That goes against Desmond's flash he explained to Charlie.
-
unless theres a scenario where claire is one of the 6 too but somehow Aaron is with Kate (highly doubtfull and would be dumb but who knows could be what it is)
-
@BuckingHorse:
! I think Sawyer would be the most obvious answer and is therefore probably incorrect. A lot of people online think she might have adopted Aaron for some reason
ever heard of reverse psychology?they made us so paranoid the most obvious answer would be the LEAST probable for us to choose.
-
I'm starting to think that Jack finds out about him and Claire being related. That would explain alot.
-
claire?why her?I dont get it.
Kate-sure,it would bring alot of "sparkings" into the place, but Claire?
