I think it's a perfect example, since both of those characters are ULTIMATE CHEESE INCARNATE in any level of play. Both games are also horribly balanced and consist of more-than-half-of-a-cast's worth of worthless characters, so.
Super Smash Bros Brawl ptII

Half of what you EVER do in fire emblem is to counter attack opossing characters.
-
But if they edgehog, you won't be able to grab onto the edge with tether recovery, which means it's pretty much useless if your opponent has half a brain.
You can't grab onto it with anything.
I don't see the point of singling out tether recoveries, since edgehoging prevents you from grabbing the edge with any sort of technique.
-
See this is part of why I always found competitive Smash Bros. to be silly
JUMP OFF THE LEDGE AND HANG ON TO KEEP OTHERS FROM GRABBING THE LEDGE
-

I'm saying you're at a better advantage if your Up+B isn't tether recovery, since you always have the chance of not needing the ledge.

I don't really see how that has anything to do with competitive Smash Bros. I did that when I sucked at the game. It's really easy to figure out and use.

Yeah, I know. And you're right.
I'm just used to play with crowds where not sweetspotting the ledge is equivalent to OOPS I JUST FUCKING MURDERED YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY
-

It's not really anything I'd consider using unless I was playing some some friends and felt like being a huge dick for laughs (similar circumstances lead to DK Suicides)
I mean come on, it just reeks of lame.
-

In an entierly different way. Marth's and Roy's counter stopped the attack and countered, while Fire Emblem simply has the two characters playing tag.
-
Hahahaha, I think it's the funniest shit ever, so I do it all the time.
"SORRY 'DO NOT DISTURB' THE LEDGE"
"OOPS DID YOU NEED THIS SPOT?"
"GOLLY, TWO'S A CROWD YOU KNOW" -
@Cap'n:

Yeah, I think I have to agree. Other good ones to do are beating the opponent off the stage, just to jump after them and spike them down with such ferocity that you die, too. Those kinds of things just lead to everyone laughing at how much of a huge dick you're being, while edgehogging really just makes you a tiny little flabby dick.
In short, if any of my friends prevents me from using Olimar's BARREL FULL OF MONKEYS attack by grabbing the goddamn ledge, Im probably just going to throw them out a window
-
Olimar's really in a bind with his Up+B. If you attack, you're going to die. Period. All I can say is, those Pikmin better be damn strong.
-
I only start hogging the edge of a stage if I start to fall behind somewhat. Since honestly, I like to win and it's funny when someone who I've never played against gets all surprised when they get beat by a girl.
That reminds me though, is a thread going to be made when this game comes out to get friend codes? Because I really would like to play against some of you.
-
It's not like there aren't multiple surfaces that tethers can grab, anyway.
ZSS's whip is seen grabbing a platform in the Skyworld stage.
-

Yes, I'ma make it when the game is released in Japan.

randomness!
I haven't thought about these guys for brawl in ages!
(EDIT)nevermind, just realized that they're in a third one for the 360

MGS4 is on the PS3, didn't stop Snake from getting in.
Not that I support B/K for Brawl or anything. We'll probably get someone from Capcom if we're getting another.
-
^ The difference is that Snake is from a 3rd party, so he does not belong to any console company. Banjo and Kazooie are owned by Rare, which is a 2nd party to Microsoft so the chances of them being allowed is almost impossible.

Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are owned by Rare…
-
"Rare owns Donkey Kong"
that's rich.
-
@Fire Fist:
Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are owned by Rare…
Nope, try again Ace
-
@Fire Fist:
Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are owned by Rare…
Which is wrong, since both are first party additions to the roster.
-
When Rare moved to Microsoft, all of the Kongs and Kremlings were kept as Nintendo's (except Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing, I think).
I think all of the characters in Diddy Kong Racing (except for Diddy) were kept by Rare.
-

Okay, didn't know that. I haven't played a Donkey Kong game since the Original Donkey Kong Country, and I remember the first thing you saw when turning on the SNES was the Rare Logo.
-
Nintendo seized all the rights to their own characters when Rare split from the company. (They had Donkey Kong and StarFox at the time…) So both of those franchises (and everything Rare added to them) is now under Nintendo's ownership...
I think the only two characters that were replaced in Diddy Kong Racing DS were Banjo and Conker... All the other characters are technically DK characters and belong to Nintendo as well...
Correct me if I'm wrong in any way...
-
Oh yeah, looks like you're right. I forgot about the DS remake.
-
Fire Fist Ace shares his "facts" once again.

Hey, I was just going by what I knew. Now I know the rest of the story. Relax.
-
You didn't know anything that was the problem
-
NGeno is absolutely correct about the licenses.
Rare never really "owned" the Donkey Kong characters, to begin with. As a second-party working strictly for Nintendo, they were given charge to create the games, but it's not like they could lay claim to what they have made.

In other news, we should see Zelda's Down B within a few hours, since there's gonna be a live feed of some event in Japan. They're gonna be playing the full version, so we'll probably get some SSE footage, along with the first few unlockables.
Plus starting roster :)

Where did you hear this? Ugh, all these events and dates and anniversaries are getting hard to keep track of.

Where else but smashboards.

Live feed should be starting in about 20 minutes or so.
-
Why do i feel as though that nothing will come of this?
-
Why did I not see a live blog mentioned in that link at all?
-
I'm not going to get my hopes up at all never dream
-
@Earthworm:

It's right at the top of the first post…
You guys sure are pessimistic. At the very least we'll get Zelda's Down B.
-
Yup, you've heard right. It turns out that the playable Brawl version at Whobbyy 2008 in Japan is actually the final version! Photogrphy IS allowed, so we'll be getting images like mad! I'm goign to be updating this all night long, every minute I can. We'll be finding out every starting character, what Zeld'a Down Special is, if Lucas has a Ness colored shirt, and all other bits of info. Stay posted here and keep checking back evry few minutes for new updates and images!
They didn't post a source.. That is what stops me from having a joysgam right now.
-
Fucking sweet.
I am seriously anticipating this. It will be the ultimate Brawl update.
-
so when and where do you suppose we'll be getting this "information"?
-

The guy should've just got there… so soon.
Alas, it's probably the demo. Why is the DEMO for a game that comes out in a week at an event..
oh there's still hope.. someone listed the jump festa roster -_-
-
:( demo
!
Oh well, at least Wario, PT and Dx3 are playable.
Zelda is really being kept a big secret lol.
-
Oh God.
I hope to death that Sakurai pisses everyone off by making her down B OCARINA THROW or something equally retarded.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Pfft, beat to the info.
Dedede has 4 mid air jumps anyway.
-
At least this'll shut up dumb fuckers who are like EVERY CHARACTER SHOWN SO FAR IS IN THE STARTING LINE-UP BECUZ SAKURAI WOULDNT BE A MEANIE AND SHOW US SECRET CHARACTERS
-
All I see is a fat black man :(
-
Ike's side B is his third jump. Dedede has a pink costume, and the obvious has been confirmed, Smash Balls turned off. Source? Too lazy, find it.
-
Turning off Smash Balls was confirmed on the website, actually.
All I see is a fat black man :(
That's Zelda's Down B. =(
