Pretty much not, Carter's list a few posts up is about all we've got so far, plus Tidus from this closed-door (I swear, S-E, stop with these) trailer.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy (It's a fighter it seems…)
-
-
Aside from Kuja looking like a girl, nope.
I hope Terra is chosen over Locke for 6, since that one didn't have as clearly a defined main character, and for the sake of more females.
As far as X goes, I'd say Auron has the best shot of getting in from X aside from the semi-confirmed Tidus and probably Seymour (I mean, how would they do a playable Sin?) As great as Auron is, I'd love to see Wakka be playable, his blitzball attacks would make for a unique play style.
If Yuna is in the game, I'd think she'd show up as the main character of X-2.
-
Wasn't Jecht shown to be the enemy of Tidus in this game? Human form I mean.
-
I think there was some art from Amano or something, but I'm not sure how concrete that is.
That would be awesome, though. I always thought Jecht and his abusive fatherhood looked awesome.
-
Throw in Auron in addition to Jecht, and I'm sold.
-
Only problem with Jecht is wouldn't he play just like a clone of Tidus?
Is XII gonna be in this? I wonder who will represent that (god hopefully not Vaan)
-
Some artwork in Jump Festa suggests that the Judge from FFXII is in, so there.
Also, it seems that with the main character of an FF there is a corresponding villain. Kuja and Zidane, Light Warrior and Garland. Ultimecia is featured in the booth and some screens, but its not sure if she's playable. And there was this one character that I assume was the villain of FF2(since it was the odd villain out) that was also featured in the booth.
So Seymour could be in. :)
-
Kefka and Sabin for Dissidia plz.
-
Kinda been stated before Prutas XP
Though I still remember seeing Human Jecht in a scan. It should be Seymour. Unless it was story or something.
-
Some artwork in Jump Festa suggests that the Judge from FFXII is in, so there.
That was from IGN's preview, and IGN's record isn't.. so hot. They originally were calling the Warrior of Light and Garland Cecil and Kain, and I'm thinking this time they saw the artwork of Garland (again), thinking it to be a Judge. 1up didn't say anything about a Judge, and no where else has mentioned it.
-
This translation was made by Schala-Kitty, from AC.Net
I might as well do up this version of the trailer, parenthesis is for commentary made by the transcriber -
Opens with the scene of the Warrior of Light preparing to fight Sephiroth as he comes out of the fissure.
Emperor Palamecia attacks Firion in a barrage of magic bullets.
Emperor: Discard your illusions, and accept my rule!
Firion: There is no need for destructive powers! (Unsure of this line)
Firion begins to throw his blades at the Emperor as he returns the attack.Kuja and Zidane from the first trailer
Kuja: I shall play for you, your requiem!
Zidane: Shut up with that music, this isn't the climax yet!The Emperor is fighting against Squall and Firion
Emperor: Cosmos, the Goddess governing order… Can you honestly believe there is merit in such a being?
Squall and Firion: What!?
Garland comes up behind them
Garland: Cosmos and Chaos are beings of mutual antithesis.
Garland: There is no end, it is their fate to fight for all eternity.
Kuja appears on a pillar in the middle of the field.
Kuja: Cosmos in her eternal fighting is but a Goddess of Death.
Kuja: After all, you are but the pawns in the Gods' game. (These lines are vague)
Ultimecia appears beside the Emperor.
Utlimeica: Once we find the Crystals, we will have our revenge! (Not sure about this)Ultimecia is battle with Squall
Squall: You're power may be manipulating time, but I will still crush you!
Squall moves to attack her
Utlimecia: Time!
Time stops within the area
Utlimecia: How foolish.
Ultimecia draws upon time to regenerate herself, and then surrounds Squall with countless magical arrows that begin attacking him.Zidane and Firion having a friendly chat.
Firion: I finally knew, what the treasure I desired was.
Zidane: And what treasure did you want? Was it a princess?
Firion: The Wild RoseSquall Vs Garland
Garland: I will battle eternally in my search for the Crystals (Not sure)Looking at a distance at the Warriors of Light
Squall: We're fighting to protect the Crystals...
Squall: That's futile - where is the truth!?
Warrior of Light: We fight against true despair. (I forgot the rest, forgive me!)Tidus enters by jumping down from a wasteland with a beautiful one-handed sword, Zidane comes in, and wraps his tail around Tidus ankle, and attacks the enemy vigorously.
Ultimecia casting a spell
Kuja attacks Tidus with his magic bullets, and Tidus runs to avoid the attack.
Sephiroth unleashes a violent attack upon Squall. (Like the TGS)The last scene is like the TGS trailer with Cosmos and Chaos staring each other down.

- Square Enix revealed new details of Dissidia: Final Fantasy for PSP at Jump Festa, it has been regarded as one of the best games in the show.
Tidus (FFX), Ultimecia (FFVIII) and Emperor (FFII) are playable
The game features both free roaming 3D combats and one on one combats
You can lock on to a character with L trigger
There are two types of attacks, one to drain the "Brave" gauge, and another one to damage the opponent HP
"Brave" is the strength of your attacks, the more you have the more damage your attacks will be
The stages have pits and destructible objects, you can perform aerial maneuver near walls, like in FFVII Advent Children
You can run on the walls and exchange blows with opponents
You can choose two different combat modes: Standard and Technical
It is probably possible to customize the characters, as you can earn Gils and APs after each fight.

Shouldn't this thread be in the video games sub-forum?

Yep, that was brought up when it was bumped.
It's kinda funny how active it's been recently and no one has bothered to move it

–----------------------------------------------------------Plot Theory: Story wise, if the translation is accurate, 12 worlds exist, and the 13th world is about to be created. Chaos (god of Dark and FFI villain) and Cosmos (God of Light for Dissidia) summon villains and heroes, respectively, from the 12 FF's. The thirteenth world is FFXIII/Versus maybe? Hm...
impressions from jump festa
Okay okay, this time we have the serious Squall. Of course the first fight was against the Warrior of Light.
Though I tried to block the Warrior's attacks a number of times, it didn't go so well. I was never on time, and if your timing in off you'll get caught in a combo. You can also fend off attacks by using Dash, and getting a Heel Crash is fun.
Squall's EX Mode is Lionheart. I was so gleeful to see Renzokuken. I've missed it sooooooo much. It worked just like it did in FFVIII!
Even after so long, I was able to get off three hits right off the bat.
It's strength was sufficient, and I won the match. ...it was pretty intense after a while.Next was Firion
Squall "I won't lose to you."
Firion definitely feels like one of the older characters... but that's okay. Heel Crash kept me safe at times, but he kept catching me in his Axe Combo and I ended up being defeated after two Breaks. I think that you can reflect his knife attack? Any of his weapons? Though something has to be done about how pathetic magic attacks are in comparison to weapon-based ones. Though Thunder isn't reflected well either. The R button is used fundamentally for reflect. "Flying magic bullet" type was used?
Anyway, it's best to guard on his knife and thunder attacks since you don't move, and Kuja's version is like ten times stronger. Anyway, since Firion is weak in aerial battle I was able to take him with Beat Fang. The fight with Zidane.
Squall: "I'll be your opponent."
He hit me with Heel Rush just relentlessly until it got annoying, so I went to get him with Beat Fang. The attack for Shift Break is a mystery. First of all, it seems to be an inescapable sudden death.
Piling up Breaks is the best way to get a kill.
Squall: "Guess I should've gone easy on you."And now, who should come next but Garland!!
Garland: "I've come to challenge the heart of the lion!"
Extremely cool. Sooo cool. Garland is absolutely cool.
Now, because he is a heavyweight class, it's best to use Triangle to fly and do quick slides as much as possible since you can't let your guard down. It was my first time seeing him swing his huge sword by the chain. It's kinda practical! But you have to avoid it so you don't get beat down. When he went into the combo, I was surprised by how easy it looked and how little power it seemed to use. It should be avoided like his other attacks. You just become a sitting duck if you use guard since it knocks you back. EX Mode was invoked with an awesome Burst. This time I got perfect on Renzokuken. Lionheat was the finisher…...**Squall: "This is like talking to a wall."
Best game ever!!!**

so we have
FFI - Garland

I wouldn't consider that 100% confirmation though
from a professional standpoint.
Though a lot of them wouldn't be too out there. Jecht being playable would be fucking amazing.
And I think Kefka's a given.
-
@Cap'n:
And I think Kefka's a given.
He'd better do that fucking laugh of his.
Playable Jecht is nice too. Verbal abuse attacks appeal to me.

I never understood his "Son of a Submariner!" line….does he have something against Namor?

Ted Woosley thought it was a good idea to spice up the dialogue.

You know whos underated, Ultimecia
Ultimecia is often denounced for having no personality and no background. She is declared to be a one-dimensional villain inserted into Final Fantasy VIII at the last minute for the sole purpose of giving the heroes someone to fight against.
However, an often-forgotten fact is that Ultimecia is present in Final Fantasy VIII ever since the very first disk, and that her actions drive the entirety of the story ever since the beginning. Ultimecia operates in the first part of the game through another character: Edea, whom she is controlling. All of the character development in the first two discs that is thought to be attributed to Edea is actually development on the part of Ultimecia; in fact, many fans of Edea who fall in love with the cruel, icy demeanor she wears for the first two discs are actually becoming fans of Ultimecia. They simply don't realize it.
A good analysis would be here. http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/34215And Dissidia can also expand on her too,
-
Sorry for double posting but the blog i posted last page has found Zeromus in the picture.
Also can anyone rip the artwork for Firon, Emperor, and Ultimacia from here

New informaton
!
Tidus and Jecht are in the game -
Yea now everyone who hates Tidus gets the chance to stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry.
-
I'm still excited on the earlier announcement that there will be at least ten hero characters in the game - I really want to see who makes it in from IV and VI.
-
@Sandai:

My two favorite FF games are 5 and XII.
Watch neither get any representation (in the form of main characters because I could totally see them adding in Gilgamesh)
-
My two favorite FF games are 5 and XII.
We have so much to discuss my friend.
And I saw a "Gilgamesh" in the previous post, I'd put my money down on this game for Gilgamesh.
-
Wh…WHY DIDN'T I KNOW OF THIS GAME... Why didn't anyone tell me?
This is so unbelievably awesome (I pray for BOTH Terra and Locke). Dear God..
I CAME!!!
(Not really.)
-
This threads been here for awhile I wasn't aware of the game itself until Heatxz posted that slightly old update.
-
I… don't think we're having both Terra and Locke. From what I understand, there is going to be one protagonist character and one villain character from each FF represented, with Chaos as the only known exception. But hell, there might be more characters from the more popular FF games; we'll see.
-
Which is weird because Jecht isn't technically a villain.
@Freeman-12:
Word (does not amount to 16 chars.)
Surprised no one takes that mindset with including Cloud into the game
"Ill teach you to be emo, overrated, and paying Tifa no attention".
Though the latter would probably only apply to a few fanboys & fangirls alike.
-

I know. But who knows, maybe there are additional characters.
Wonder if Final Fantasy Tactic characters will be included. Ramza and Delita would be bad ass.
Anyone else REALLY not want Vaan to be the XII choice? Balthier and Ashe would be a MILLION times better….
And on another note, notice how we only have one female character.... and SEVERAL male characters that look like females. BADADUM! I'm here til' Thursday.
-
If they're adding the main heros & villains from most of the FF games he seems like a shoe-in.
-
I just want to stomp Tidus with Zidane.
I wanna stomp everyone with Zidane.
-
I want to unleash hellfire on the world as Kefka.
That`s all.
-
Yeah this is definitely high on my "DO WANT" list.
Now as I recall, there was an interview with Nomura saying they were going to try to put everyone in, as many as they can, and that the whole Main Hero/Villian thing will be the main draw to the story mode and that supporting characters will be unlocked for Versus mode.
I dunno, maybe I'm just hopeful (I mean if that IS true, why haven't we seen anyone else besides the main heroes.
-

Kind of defeats the necessity of sequel for the most part.
-
i really like the redesign on tidus and jecht! i guess all the chars will be similarly redisigned?
i hope it has a shitload of chars, although i kind of doubt it will…
-
http://www.jeux-france.com/news27938_tidus-dans-dissidia-final-fantasy.html
http://kotaku.com/5017779/dissidia-final-fantasy-half-doneDissidia only 50% done. Only 20 characters. I'm not sure with this one but they have all 20 characters either decided or done. Also looks like Tidus equiped his celestial weapon too for a round.
-
50% done what the hell?
-
I say, let them take their time to make the game as good as they can.
-
Or make as bad as Don King's Prizefighter (just throwing that out there)
-
I forgot to mention that every character has a unique ability.
-
I forgot to mention that every character has a unique ability.
Well, I'd hope so, considering that this is a fighting game made after 1990.
-
20 chars? not bad for a psp game with graphics on that level…
i would always like more but 20 is about what i expected
-
When this was announced, I expected about 8. Handheld fighter.
