Karate Kid (new one)
Pirates of the Caribbean (all 3)
Transformers 1 and 2
Vampires Suck! (mainly for Twilight haters) -

I didn't think Transformers 1 was that bad, unless you were a fan of the series. On it's own, it was fun to watch.
@RobbyBevard:
Its not every day you get to see the Japanese Pulp Fiction.
Fish Story.
Yeah…. its all that Greg said it is. I'll be watching it again this weekend with friends.
It needs an official stateside dvd release like, now, dammit. its a crime that this flik is torrent only at the moment.
Is there a site we could watch this at?
Speaking of Pulp Fiction, I just saw that movie yesterday. It always takes me a while for Tarintino movies to sink in for me and actually make a final judgement on them, and I gotta say I liked Pulp Fiction. Although it didn't really seem to have as much plot as say, Inglourious Basterds did.
Although I like all these theories about what was in the suitcase, such as
! It's possibly the suitcase that had the diamonds in it from Reservoir Dogs that Mr. Pink ran off with,
or! It's Mr. Wallace's soul, since according to myths (and not any religion, as far as I know), Satan takes your soul through the back of your head and thus would explain the bandage on the back of his head,
or my personal favorite,
! IT'S THE ONE PIECE!
@Don:
Watch "A Clockwork Orange"!
A true masterpiece.I liked the story, but a lot of the Russian slang got annoying (as summed in less than a minute here: http://www.rinkworks.com/movieaminute/m/clockwork.shtml) and the message behind the story was foobar.

@Mr.:

! Diamonds that glow gold??
I wouldnt look into it too much to be honest. Whats in the suitcase doesnt matter.
-
I rewatched Mortal Kombat 1 the movie. I really had a great time.
The story is surprisingly good. It kills the star wars prequels by a large shot.
The fights were pretty good, no CGI were used.

I know the contents aren't meant to be known, Tarantino even said so himself (according to some articles on the glorious internet! hardy har har),
! and if we did go with the diamonds anyway, the glow of gold doesn't necessarily have to reflect diamonds, it could be seen as Tarantino's way of over-exagerrating things, like he tends to do with a lot of his films. They golden glow can highlight how precious the contents were.
! But hey, in the end, it was just an orange light bulb ^_^ -
Phone Booth - Saw it the last week by accident, and it blew me away. I usually dislike things with such little change of scene, but it was really captivating. Fantastic movie.
Second. Saw this movie years ago, I was flipping through and it was just coming on, wasn't planning to watch it and had my finger on the clicker.
The clicker was never pressed.
I can't think of any movie I've seen which seems so generic, but turns out to be a stellar film. The whole film takes place in a Phone Booth for crying out loud. But goddamn, what a glorious Phone Booth it is. This is one of those rare films that got my blood pumping, it truly is suspensful.

Old Boy
It's about a guy who gets trapped in a room for 15 years and how he tries to find out why he was imprisoned.
Just saw this and if you'e looking for something unique, this'll fit the bill. I'd advise against looking up anything more about the plot because it really was worth watching.

Oh so thankful I saw this post..
I DL'd it and watched it on my PSP about few weeks ago and it really is a highly-recommended movie..
I would like to recommend The Luck Number S7evin starring Bruce Willis and Josh Har-something… Eventhough I think most of you have already watched it.. It's just one of my fave action movies.. And I love Bruce Willis' movies..

If you look around there's a Fish Story RAW torrent and a separate sub torrent.
However, I believe it might be on Netflix. Just beware, there's some documentary called Fish Story too.
The less you know about Fish Story going in, the better.
Not in a Fight Club way. Just its own way.
IF YOU LIKED FISH STORY
From the same director I also suggest:
'Foreign Duck, Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker'
I swear on my life before the movie is over you'll understand the title.
-
Yeah Fish Story was allegedly on Netflix, but they then took it off because it wasn't the movie we thought it was - it's a documentary about fish.
Luckily, I have the avi and subs via torrent and will probably watch it this week.
-
Movie I recommend: In Bruges.
Fantastic movie. -

Oh, what the heck is with that title? I thought its 3 movies, or is it?
I'm gonna go check that one out.. Thanks Sir Greg! -

Yes, watch this before Spielberg rapes the movie by remaking it.
-
Anyone got a political/documentary worth watching?
I've already watched - The fog of war, W. (bush), Micheal moores bowling for columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Nixon, motorcycle diaries etc..
Anything really.

The so-called remake is actually another adaptation of the manga. The Korean movie changed quite a few things. Not that I'm excusing it.
And for anyone interested in seeing Metropolis, an extremely awesome movie, they're showing the newly restored version on TMC some time in early November.
-

Just one movie. And the title will TOTALLY make sense by the time the credits roll.
Like Fish Story, the less you know going in, the more you'll enjoy it.
ARTHOUSE ALERT
Okay so it's not arthouse. It actually has a number of big names and was granted a major release. But the pace and storytelling will make you believe otherwise.
The King of Jailbreakers
板尾創路の脱獄王
awesomeawesomeawesomeawesome
I love slow films done right and this is definitely one of them. Watched it on the plane back to America this summer and those two hours might as well have been two minutes. Too bad there were still 10 more.
It's reminds me of something Miike would have done 7 years ago when not high on something.
-
I need to watch the last 5 minutes of Fish Story again now.
And try to hunt down those other things.
WHY WILL THEY NOT RELEASE THESE THINGS STATESIDE? I WILL GIVE THEM $$$ FOR THEM!
-
The Foreign Duck one you can find torrents of with relative ease. Might have to sign up for some asian movie forum but it's painless and worth it.
The King of Jailbreakers I dunno.
-
Would recommend some, but you guys have probably watched em.
Or consider them too unmanly for your tastes ||D
DEAR YAOI FANGIRLS - Brokedick Mountain. Nuff Said.… can't think of any more that wouldn't be categorized under 'Fail' in your guys books even though they're all epic win ; A ;
...what's this talk about ducks and fish?
-
Primer. One of the most confusing films I have seen (a good thing). It is a time travel movie done right. Also, it was filmed for $7000!
This image gives you an idea of just how confusing it is (last box on the bottom row).

I wonder what those other things might be.. I think I'm missing something too..

I couldn't find a "Movies that don't deserve their own thread" thread, but I'm hear to send a pitch for people to see Hugo.
It's based on the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret and directed by Martin Scorsese.
I don't want to give it away for people that haven't read the book, but it's been called The Love Letter to Cinema. Really, any writers, artists, or anybody that loves film should see this movie. And the 3D is worth it. Scorsese really utilizes the 3D effects in an effective manner.
This family film is to me the same vein as Bridge to Terabithia is a family film, but the movie isn't hiding a little girl's death, but something more heartwarming. Though there is more "slapstick" comedy, but even that is just a very minor part of the bigger picture.
As to those who read the book, I have too and even though they did change some things and added some parts, the heart of the book was preserved. I'm almost want to reread the book just to catch the differences.
Main reason I'm doing this is I read an article stating it cost $170 million to make and even though this won't magically help them break even the movie should be seen and it's worth watching.

Everyone with Netflix Instant needs to watch Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury. It's starts out as one of "those" movies you want to instantly turn off, but the longer it goes the greater it gets.
Go on, it stars Kevin Sorbo (who's still ripped) and Danny Trejo.
