It would be just as buggy and samey as AC after the first few games, if not right away. And the platforming would probably be minimal since people just don't gravitate towards platforming these days. If I liked PoP I'd probably be glad Ubisoft are milking AC and not PoP.

Pretty much this and that's only if they don't cancel it 4 years later after announcing it.

@Cyan:
Oh of course Robespierre is a Templar. Of course Marat is not here for some reason despite being the most famous assassination of the French Revolution. Of course the stance taken by the game is that the revolution was done for the benefit of the wealthy.
Of course.
Please tell me the Marquis de Lafayette is in there somewhere. He had just as much a presence as he did in the American Revolution.

Nope! :)
He was in AC3, though. They never mention who he is, though, because Ubisoft is fucking terrible and people who defend the choices made in AC3 are morons.

bangs head on wall So much for historical relevance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_du_Motier,_Marquis_de_LafayetteOn the flip side, do you really want the AC team to make a debauchery out of more intriguing historical figures?
-
Good point.
Although if Robspierre is a Templar I'm almost sure Lafayette would have been an Assassin.

The Assassins take the side of the aristocracy and ancien regime for some reason. The Templars are "manipulating the lower classes" into a revolt that will supposedly "scare the world off democracy."

Just started playing this today. Feels a lot like AC:2 and Brotherhood, which is a good thing. Liking all the options towards individuality in terms of equip, but why the hell do I have to play the companion app or visit the Initiates website for like every second chest/weapon/armor ingame? The app is 500MB big, I don't even have enough space on my phone to download it, even if I wanted to. And I am sure as hell not gonna bother with signing up to this weird Initiates website - Don't I deserve a full game after paying full retail price (even though my room mate paid for the game :D)
Sorry if this has been discussed to death in this thread already, I just wanted to rant a bit after my first personal experience.
-

No, not according to most AAA companies these days and it's been that way for a while.

I know the trend, but the sheer amount of micro transactions and external "gimmicks" in this game is ridiculous and new to me, at least within the range of games I usually play. AC worked fine without this stuff.

It did, that's why they had to ruin it.

Then Lafayette would totally have been an assassin.
And hey, the revolution led to Napoleon and the Empire, so you could argue for that storyline.
-
don't let that mold sit
-
-
it looks better actually. more colourful and more stuff for the player to do
now if that "stuff" were anything other than repetitive filler then it'd actually be better
-
Ok I give up… After weeks of not playing it with the hope that the patches will let me like it, today I realized that it still bores the shit out of me.
This was my last Assassin Cree for sure. I should have stopped at Revelation... Or at least at III.
Same as I never should have played Watch Dogs. Always the same games and the story has become a complete clusterfuck as well.
Hope Ubisoft someday stops doing yearly ACs but sadly people are buying the games
-
I hear Rogue was pretty good story wise. Plus, more boats!
-
Since this franchise gets a new game like every six months and the threads for it never go more than a couple pages, how about we merge them all and just make this a General Assassin's Creed thread.

That's just crazy enough to work.

You didn't liked Black Flag?

My brother got me Black Flag for Christmas. Guess I gotta play through it now, don't I? :getlost:
I suppose the pirate stuff would chip away at the tedium

Could've been worse he could've got you Rambo: The Video Game.

So… they were already milking it quite a bit, but this is becoming outrageous.
When does the HD collection come out for the original 360 games? :ninja:

Not really people have been asking for AC games that take place outside of Europe for years and now they get it….....as 2.5D games:ninja:.

AC3 is outside of Europe.

Wow, way to waste the fan demanded China locale on a 2.5 style game rofl.

Less meme-tastic glitches I guess.

To be honest… It will be better as the main game
-
As I said before… I'm more interested in it as in the main line series
-
Artstyle looks cool, game not so much
-
-
Art and gameplay makes me think of Mark of the Ninja… with the AC stamp on it.
-
New game to have 2 playable characters.

Another year…another assassin creed game...
Why the fuck they have to push them every year? Why can't they use 2-3 years to perfect them instead push them forcibly and unfinished every year?
-
On the bright side, it seems they've foregone any pretense of "leaking" information about a new AC and straight up made a teaser for an announcement.
-

Charles Dickens and Darwin confirmed. -
Spoiler alert: turns out Darwin was an Assassin who, as the story unfolds, has his values mixed up into a morally grey area in trying to introduce the concept of natural selection.
-
Also the Three Ghosts of Christmas are people from the ancient civilization.
-
Why the fuck they have to push them every year? Why can't they use 2-3 years to perfect them
Polishing and Perfecting are two different things and only one of them is possible with game development.
-
At least they are keeping the british accents. -

Thank goodness that Ubisoft isn't possible of either
Edit: And wow, I'd say I was completely underwhelmed by that trailer. Bravo
-

Who can argue that?
Well other than the Ubisoft execs who'll have to explain to their shareholders why stocks plummet.
-
New Game. New Assassin. New Statue.
Altair, Ezio, Conner, Edward and Arno are getting friends!
Pumped as well, AC has always been my guilty pleasure series.
-
I havent played Unity yet, but just saw the trailer for Syndicate..the game so far looks pretty awesome
-
Nope, not this time Ubisoft.
-
I am actually happy that Ubisoft will have no multiplayer in the next game. Their approach is quite sound, but then again, it's Ubisoft.
