I think Sonic 3 is availible for the Wii now and I think soon or has it Sonic and Knuckles will come out!
In my all honest opinion these two games together make the best Sonic game, if not, the best GAME ever..
Creative levels, GREAT music, and one of the best final fights in video game history this game(games) deserves its own thread discuss!

I hated how in addition to the regular time limit, you also had to make sure that you didn't run out of rings and fall to your death (in space, whut).
Granted it's been forever since I last played it and I'm far better at games in general now. I've actually been playing through the PC release again, so maybe now I'll enjoy it more, but man it killed me as a kid.
Sandopolis still sucks as much as I remember it, though. Mostly the second act actually.

I'm still looking forward to the RPG that is being developed just because of how much I enjoyed the Superstar Saga games, and the entire time I was playing them, was thinking that Sonic NEEDED a game like this.
I'm desperately clinging to the hope that it will be based solely on the original games and not the 30 stupid animals they added in the 3D ones, but I really doubt that's gonna happen.
and I don't know why, but the GBA and DS 2D ones aren't anywhere near as enjoyable as the originals.

Doomsday was epic indeed.
Still the best Sonic game ever. A true classic, though Sonic 2 holds more sentimental value for me since it was pretty much the first video game I ever beat.

Oh, it was fun as shit. Pizza hut had a machine of it when I was in the 5th-6th grade. My friends and I would waste quarters away on it before, during and after enjoying that pizza buffet thing.
We would just interrupt each other as we made it through story mode only to have our shit wrecked by metal sonic.

Sonic Gems was what the collections should have been from the beginning. I wish they could have added the JP only arcade game too. Emulation problems? And Fighters was OK for what it was. Fang was a real pest with his whole projectile fighting style.

I agree with Clericshadow that the first Sonic games had the best soundtrack ever. My favorite tunes include Hydrocity Zone and Flying Battery Zone.

Not quite.
Here's how it went. Sonic & Knuckles was supposed to be Sonic 3. However, due to time constraints in trying to rush the game out for Christmas, they had to split the project up into two parts. S&K would eventually be made to connect with Sonic 3 to bring you the full game that was meant to be released. That's why Sonic 3's ending felt so poor and rushed, leaving you feeling like something wasn't truely finished like Sonic 1 and Sonic 2's endings.
And personally, the Get Spheres bonus stages were incredibly fun. Plus Tails doesn't stupidly wreck everything for you, unlike Sonic 2's bonus stages. >:|

Oi just cuz I don't like the DKC music, don't mean I don't like the game. I actually beat DK1 a while ago and now that I think about it, I need to get back into DK2 and finish it already.
BTW fuck the haters, Dixie's my fav. Kong.I remember how tedious Sandopolis was, until my bro showed me how to beat it, then it was smooth sail from there. The boss of Sandopolis was about the most hilarious boss in a Sonic game.

I found the 2nd Act of Sandopolis horrible to play. Those damn ghosts keep stalking us through the whole stage and we still have to worry about time and opening the doors to go forward.
