LOST became just a bundle of confusement for me. Well, Avatar is on like every weekdays at 3:30 central time IN ORDER, so I'm gonna start there.
Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

As kiddy as the show was, I still actually enjoyed it, and has been the only good show nick's made since Invader Zim.
I think Nick will beg them for a spin-off of some sort, and they'll exploit it for all it's worth. They've already started but as soon as it ends you know they'll make a sequel that absolutely sucks. I think some things are good and just need to end when they end.
But September 21st? Great, now the new episodes will begin to take away from my Halo 3 time.

Yeah the creators said that they weren't "done" with the world of Avatar.

there are some funny speculations about aang repeopling the world with airbenders.
the resulting gene pool might be a bit small though :D
-
I can't believe how much of a skeptic I was when I doubted the cover art for the next DVD. It still surprised me that it was shown before the third season was announced.

I honestly think that the airbenders are still around. Remeber everyone has always says "I've never seen an airbender". Well that could mean that there in hiding. The only evidence that I have for this is in the season three trailer. Aang's glder wings go from being red to blue. And accordding to Aang in BITTER WORK an airbenders staff is carefully made by other airbender monks.
-
True, but we also see in the preview that part of his staff was burnt away, and needed replacement parts.
-

Well, there's also the option of teaching other benders to air bend. I dunno if it's even possible, but Iroh once said he learned stuff from the water benders, wich resulted in the lighting bolt atacks. Anyways, that part always confused me, mainly because the whole point of the Avatar was that only he could master the four elements, so perhaps something else is applied to the lighting bolt stuff.
-
Iroh didn't actually learn waterbending, he learned how to control the lighting by learning some water bending stances.
-
well so far the elements can apparently bend more things than the element itself.
Earth - Metal
Fire - LightningIf I were speculating, I would have thought Lightning would have been Air's thing. Water and Ice shouldn't count? right?
-
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:

Depends on whether or not bending is an acquired skill that's usually extremely hard to master, but that people sometimes have a natural aptitude for or if it's something that's strictly inherited. It could work either way.
According to Wikipedia, the card game has at least one Airbending Monk survive the war by selling out his brethen, but I don't know if that's actual canon or not. If so, there may be a handful of Airbenders running around in the Fire Nation somewhere.
Actually, that would be a neat way for Ozai to be the most powerful Firebender alive: he combines Air Bending and Fire Bending into a single discipline.

I think the special thing about water is the healing, dont know if only katara mastered it but i doubt it… about the last airbender disscussion : i dont know where but i saw a avatartradingcard with a female airbender on it, weird anyone has the picture?
-

Of course not, have you forgotten why katara fought Master Pakku?
@Master:
Go back to the healing huts with the other women where you belong.
^_^''
The women of the northern water tribe weren't allowed to use bending for anything other than healing.
-

as far as i know the game's only airbender that isn't based on the tv-show is a male monk named Afiko the Betrayer.
we have seen two female airbender monks in the show:
Sister Iio (Appa's Lost Days)
Avatar Yangchen (The Avatar State)
The second picture is from nickelodeon's avatar online game though. originally the creators didn't plan on developing the previous Avatars aside from the two already introduced (Roku and Kyoshi).
-
Waterbenders not only have healing, but they can also manipulate plant life as seen in "The Swamp".
In a way, sand bending might be considered an extension of earthbending as well.
-
I thought they were just using the water around the plants to pick them up.
-
No, they actually use the water in the plants to manipulate them. Hell, it would be such a killer if Katara learned to manipulate humans trough water bending.
And after finally watching the episode of One Piece with Dragon (OFFTOPIC:WHYTHEHELLTHEWINDWASGREEN?!) I think that Aang could master the manipulation of the weather, that would come in handy against Ozai.
-
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:
No, they actually use the water in the plants to manipulate them.
Huu is the only person we see doing that in the episode in question; considering that he seems to have a special connection to the swamp, he might be the only person capable of doing so.
Even if it doesn't require a close connection to plants to begin with, it's probably a very rare ability seeing as how it's a similar principle to Metal Bending (the bender just finds earthen impurities in the metal to manipulate) and requires that the person be able to bend something that they can't see, which is something that we've heard on at least one occasion is rather hard to do.

I don't think it's a rare ability. hard? yes. rare? ehhh. Can't say. A shame the north and south poles don't have plants to futher this conversation.

I'd say that it's rare; none of the other Swamp Tribe benders use the technique and, again, it works on the same basic principle as Metal Bending. How many people do we see do the latter in the series?

^ High Quality version of the trailer
Tuesday the Book 2 complete set comes out, and in about 2 weeks Book 3 finally begins!
Also, about Aang's glider. From the looks of it in the clearer trailer, Aang's new glider is not only blue but the wings look alot like those of Roku's dragon (who is also seen in the trailer)

Seeing that vid makes me remember how much of an ass Prince 'Blackeye' is. He is even worse than Sasuke Uchiha (the way he betrayed his Uncle, he deserves to have the other side of his face roasted).
-
-
Well the title of the series is the "last airbender" so, Aang is very likely the last of them.
It would be very sad, after all the effort to keep pace in the world that Aang has made, to make the next fire avatar the last avatar.
My teory is that even the airbenders extincted there are still some air nomads, originaly every air nomad is suposed to be an airbender because their spirituality, but maybe after the attacks they lost some touch with their principles of the discipline, of some young air nomads survived before learning the bending.
And supposing that aang survives the final battle (is a nicktoon after all, so this is 99% given..) he can somewhat repoblate his nation, to certain degree, we don't know the effects of international relationships in the offprings, by definition they will be only one type of bender but wich of the parent's one?
And my least favorite, but likely theory, that the airbenders eventualy start to reaparear in the future expontaniusly, keeping the theme that "all the elements are the same" as mentioned by the Guru.

I dunno…..maybe it's cus I'm really not into Naruto at all, but Sasuke seems waaaaaay too unlikeable to compared to Zuko, who I actually care about despite him making some stupid moves.
I'd call Sasuke a whiny emo brat, and I'd call Zuko a flawed tragic character.

Plus, we still haven't seen the last air temple.
Perhaps some survivors managed to escape the Fire nation's wrath. Who knows?

I thought there were just two air temples, and they had visited both in the first season…(Aang´s temple was deserted, and the other had this scientist that created a balloon for the Fire Nation)

There are four air temples. Southern, Northern, Western and Eastern air temple. Southern, Western and Eastern air temple are clearly seen in the map of the four nations' territories. The Northern temple is located in the high mountains of Earth Kingdom.
Southern and Northern temple were shown in season one (where they find Momo and meet the Mechanist) and the Eastern temple was shown in season two (where Aang meets Guru Pathik).
Western air temple is the only one not yet seen in the series.

I doubt that the survivors are in the temple closest to the fire nation…
-

You never know. Maybe they want us to believe something that obvious.
-
there is at least one survivor from an air-temple, not mentioned in the series but in the crad trading game. She is even mentioned in Wikipedia ("malu, the Ghost witch")..lol however that girl lived when the war started (100 years ago), so she is definately dead by the start of the series..
but who knows… maybe there were some other airbender-dudes with her ;)..Can´t wait for the new season, the trailer was fantastic!
-
The authors themselves had said that the card game wasn't cannon, I don't remember which interview, maybe the flasback chapter to roku and zozin that is floating arround will confirm or deny the existence of the betrayer airbender.

Only two more days until season 3 starts! By the way, is it true that the director wants to make the live action movie into a trilogy?
-
I heard them say that while I was at the comic con. I do hope they change their minds about this whole live-action movie thing…
-
Seemed I had my chance to see the entire series from the start. Started yesterday at 2pm NickToons Network is gonna be showing the entire first 2 seasons throughout the week. Tho, I wasn't able to jump on due to my sleep schedule having me asleep during such times. So, consider this chance "missed".

That was the plan from the beginning. One movie covers one season.

It's only been truw since jan. Anyway don't worry about it being absulote shit. The creators of Avatar are writing the script and are gonna be hands on with the production.

Are there any other opportunities like that? =/
I haven't seen much of Avatar since the season one finale, and I've got a week's worth of time to burn - it's my first vacation since winter 2006.

go to joox.net
click on the anime and it's under there.
enjoy. -
Thank you.
…
I can't believe people are calling this anime, it's great animation but made for Japan it is not. It's like some giant conspiracy from GaiaOnline since fanfiction.net is doing the same too.
How many people actually believed in "Saigo no Tenkuu Bendaa Aang"?
-
It's called anime due to the art style, same reason shows like Teen Titans were called anime. It is indeed false, but what can ya do? It's a weeaboo's world.
-
Which brings up the question, does Korea animate stuff for Japan as well?
-
Aang = Zuko O_O
I need to restore my honour^^
-
I think we may have seen the Western Air Temple in one of Appa's flashbacks, where we saw the Airbender Nuns and the baby Sky Bison. If I recall, one of the writers said that the Northern and Southern Air Temples were exclusively male, while nuns were trained at the Western and Eastern temples.
Which brings up the question, does Korea animate stuff for Japan as well?
I'm sure they have, in the past. I just think it's outsourced there less than it is here.
-
Well on the cable channel Nicktoons Network they just re-aired the "Avatar The Last Airbender: The legend so far" Episode which basically chronicled some of the important events in the show narrated by Avatar Roku. They updated it with stuff from Book 2: Earth which was narrated by Katara and just after they aired the Book 3: Fire trailer (But failed to actually add the air date). Seems they are having some super Avatar: The Last Airbender Marathon showing the Book 3: Fire trailer again and then airing every episode of Book 1: Water and Book 2: Earth for 4 straight days. Lucky for you Buhhan1.
-
Well…
! I can't believe we finally get to see what Ozai's face looks like! Though he's alot younger looking than what I expected. At least he's not goofy like that puppet Chang kept mentioning from "The Deserter"
-
This post is deleted!
-
Good episode! Wish they had aired a full hour though… Azula was diliciously evil again and
! Fire Lord Ozai's face!
Best Lines:
Sokka: "Is the universe just out to prove me wrong?"
Toph: "You make it too easy."And the Chibi special was funny too.
Iroh: "But fire is the best runs" -
And being the sneaky bitch that she is, it's obvious that Azula has some kind of plan by giving Zuko credit for
! "killing" Aang.
-
Damn, Aang even destroyed his glider…in the first freakin' episode of the season! And then there's Azula and whatever she's up to!
And, for what it's worth, Mako's replacement for Iroh sounds dead-freakin'-on!!
