Scientology is DANGEROUS. I reccommend watching the south park parody ep about it. Not just for the fun, but for the truth behind Scientology.
Scientology

King, he was saying an athiest asshole is just as much of an asshole as a fundamentalist asshole.
-
I've found Scientology shifty since I first read about it in around fifth grade. Hubbard was really, really creepy, and seemed like a bit of a psycho. Scientology seems kind of like Pastafarianism gone wrong.
-
Oh I apologize then, no harm done^^. Regards to Scientology and its view on psychiatry. "A company that only exists to make a profit" Well, duh!!!!
-

QFT. My father always used to say: "Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one, and all the shit smells the same."
-
Scientology drove the daughter of a friend of our family literally insane.
Her husband was a member of Scientology and forced her to join - after that she became schizophrenic. My mother got that book "Dianetics" from a colleague who ended up broke and bankrupt with nothing left except for his newfound alcoholism several months(!) after he had joined.
So, yeah, this is Scientology.

-
Get the fuck outta here! Fo real?!
-
wtf is your problem? Seriously, that´s not funny.
-
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princessAlright man I'll stop.
-
You must have an ugly soul. Ugly, I say.
-
-
Like I´d care about that. Oh, boy. What the hell.

Ya know, I'm seeing a pyschiatrist >_>
-
Erm did I insult you or anything O_O?!? I only stated the obvious that psychiatry like any other company has the primary function to make a profit so you can make cash to buy things like food and clothes etc.

MASSIVE LULZ
If you ask me, it was history repeating itself.

You didn't, but my pyschiatrist seems nice.
And I think the main point of pyschiatry is so that pyschotics don't run around with chainsaws. And money.
-
Oh you guys.
Scientology is excellent, and Hubbard is awesome. Many people are simply jealous that their religions don't include lasers or space travel or explosions.

Mine does… I worship Star Wars!

Well, my religion has pirates with special powarz. Beat that!

"Those people are bat shit crazy."
a direct quote from my 60 year old sociality lady professor when asked why scientology wasn't in the religion portion of her wonderfully politically correct teaching curriculum. IF SHE SAID IT IT MUST BE TRUE
-

This.
If you're going to believe in a higher power, at least have faith that your deity knows how badass flaming bear cannons are.
-
Who knows, maybe one day…
Like I said, who knows….
-
Hoooo boy. Penny Arcade's recent posting of the Fishman interviews has gotten me interested in the scheming and deceiving of Scientology. This video has nothing to do with that, but it's more proof that these people are fuckin' waaaay off the deep end. Just listen to this fellow babble. It's all building up to Tom Cruise getting an award.

I'm not religious or spiritual, but I do find Scientology amusing. How could anyone take its ideas seriously? To each his/her own, as I sometimes say. As long as they don't push it on me or do anything that threatens the balance of the world, then I don't care if they believe in it. That goes for all belief systems IMO.
-

Balance of the world it ain't but how's this for a 'church'?
http://www.xenu-directory.net/critics/fishman1.html
Financial crimes? Yeah okay. Ordering him to murder his psychologist? Ordering him to commit suicide?
Scientology isn't something as simple as 'different strokes' it's dangerous.
Note the case of individuals who have died from medical conditions because they were refused medication by the 'Church' who believe they can heal anything.
Just believing in SF is amusing, nothing more. Certainly no reason to mock them on those grounds alone. But the crap they do is scary shit.
-
It's crazy, Greg. Rotten to the core. What makes it worse is that its a private organization that's persecuting a private citizen. I'm aware of the Church of Scientology's horrible record when it comes to dissent. Hell, they even persecute other sects of Scientology. Yes, other sects exist.
By all means people shouldn't let the Church of Scientology ruin their lives. I'm just saying I don't hate individual Scientologists. I extend that to people of all faiths.
-
Oh I don't know if I hate them. But they're a dangerous cult.
-
The Church of Scientology is dangerous, of course. That's why it's good for people to stand up to them legally and politically. If they weren't so power-hungry and rabid, they wouldn't be a problem really.
-
If they weren't so power-hungry and rabid, they wouldn't be a problem really.
Yeah I totally agree! I mean if it was a group of people that believed in a certain work…well...whatever...that's that. No different from many other faiths. But they're a blood-thirsty business that preys on weak outcasts which...yeah.
-
I don't completely understand why it seems so popular with celebrities.
And honestly, I too knew about it before it was joked about in SP, but I didn't really get the jist what it really was until after the episode aired.
-
Exactly! :) If they were just a weird cult that minded their own business and didn't try to ruin people's lives and raid government offices, then it would be no big deal. And they do run their religion like a business, hence many, including myself, see it as a business. Scientology doesn't seem very spiritual.
-
i've always felt comparing scientology to religion was an insult to religion
-
I'm sure there's individual Scientologists who really have true faith in their religion and it is spiritual for them. I can't picture myself feeling that way, but it's not my place to force that on them and vice versa.
It could be a religion if the "Church leadership" did things differently.
-
glad im atheist here
dont have to concern myself with any of this type of shit -
I'm a secular humanist so I don't really care about spiritual or religious stuff either. But I do care about civil liberties, civil rights, political and religious freedom, justice, equality and all that other good stuff. The Church of Scientology does a good job of violating a lot of those principles. That does piss me off and I do care about that!
Though I'm not religious/spiritual, I do love religious studies. It's always fascinated me!
-
Don't even get me started on Scientology.
This is not religion. This shit spits on religion and shouldn't dare compare itself to actual beliefs. If it were just a joke that nobody took seriously I wouldn't care, people can believe what they want, but it's a money-sucking, life-ruining, murderous abomination.
Wow, I made a serious post.
-
That's what Greg and I were just discussing. If it wasn't a money-sucking, life-ruining, murderous abomination then it would be a harmless, weird fringe cult.
-
Arent they trying to outlaw Scientology over here in Europe ? But then again with all their money, lawyers and dirt they can dig up its probably gonna be a loooooong fight before anything might actualy happen.
And what ive always found most creepy is the way they use the court system to fuck their opponents over, you know the the whole harasment and all that normal intimidation shit i could deal with since you could always turn to the police for help, but when theyre able to use the institution thats supposed to work for justice to cover their own asses and ruin decent folks man that just pisses me off to no end.
-
I've heard about that. I don't agree with outlawing Scientology. However, they do use the court system to ruin lives and that's a problem. If only there was a way to stop Scientology from abusing the legal system without outlawing them. I'm sure there is, it just hasn't been implemented yet.
-
So, does anyone know someone who believes on Scientology?…
-
I do! My dad dabbled in it for 6 months way before I was born. Somehow he managed to not get pulled in and came out just fine. My dad's an agnostic nowadays.
-
I'm agnostic too!
Honestly, I'd like to read up about Scientology myself, just to see why it is so kooky.
-
I wish I could tell what I am…
Well, not really. I think that's nothing but the result of being raised by parents that give a damn about religion and even threaten religious folks with Dobermans when they are bitching out of the house.......
-
Overall, we all decide our own path. It's up to you! As hokey as that sounds, it's true.
Sometimes I like the appeal of religion and spirituality, but I'm too hardened of a secular humanist.
If it helps Kaimei, I could post a religious quiz for you to take if you'd like. It's nothing to take to heart, but it could be a little helpful.
-

Actually, that sounds similar to how I was raised, in terms of religion.
Most of my family is pretty much athiest, I chose to be agnostic though.
-
My family's also non-religious. I'll confess that used to have a strong interest in Buddhism, and I still love to read about it, but I can't find it within myself to be a faithful Buddhist. I'm firmly a secular humanist.
-
I don't know why, but for some reason I find this hard to take seriously
-
I don't take that seriously either. XD
