****You never know what Oda has planned for Sanji. He always seems to disappear during the crucial moments, but always does something which is important. During the Little Garden arc, he managed to convince Baroque Works to stay off of the Straw Hat Crew. During the Alabasta arc, he rescued the crew from Crocodile. Perhaps he could be doing something similar here? Maybe he'll rescue Zoro and Luffy from the ocean since Luffy can swim and both he and Zoro are injured. That's what I think.
Spandam is probably much stronger than any of us are giving him credit for. He'd have to be, I'd wager, in order to be the head of CP9. How he got that strong, we won't know until Oda reveals it, but I bet it has to do with a Logia Akuma no Mi.
As for the way the battle turns out, Luffy and Zoro will each probably be able to take on one of the CP9. Luffy will take Spandam and Zoro will probably get Lucci. The others will probably end up taking on one together. I'd imagine that Robin will probably end up rejoining the Straw Hat Crew before the final battle. We'll end up getting flashbacks about her and maybe about Paulie, if Oda decides to make Paulie the new crew member. That's just my two cents though.
**Luffy can't swim mind you, Sanji would swim Zoro and Luffy back to Water 7. oh and Luffy would probley crash-land on Enais Lobby(If Oda does Enais Lobby).
**I can see Luffy riding on Yokozana (that frog), and bursting into Enais Lobby to save everyone (like in Alabasta).
Mmmm…..That"ll be nice, and Sanji can crash the Sea Train through Enais Lobby :lol:_

Chopper had one of Zoro's swords!!!! Does that mean the other two are still inside?! or with Zoro?! waaaah!!!
As stated before, yes, the two other swords are with him.
Chopper was carrying Sandai-Kitetsu. In chapter 349, page 14, you can see that Zoro was using it before he got his ass kicked.
-
i've said it before and I'll say it again:
chopper! chopper! chopper!
yes. he is cool.
Well, it guess it is Spandam after all. Hm. That was an easy one, for a change. am now waiting to see how chopper and company got into the situation they are now in.
Still having a Sanji withdrawal. How long has it been?! Has it been a quarter of a year?
-
finally the flashback i over now the fight begins.
-
Personally, I have this feeling Usopp, not Luffy, will be the one to confront Spandam in the end. Luffy will probably get Lucci, the group's toughest fighter, possibly in a two-on-one alongside Paulie.

Well…That could happen if Spandam is the leader because he's super intelligent. However, as the Luffy v. Usopp fight taught us, against a monster like Luffy, even if he knows the person, brains won't do too much. I love Usopp and I think he's a great character, but if he is up against someone like Luffy...Well....Until he gets upgraded weaponry, he doesn't stand much of a chance.

Yes! I can post again!
Luffy tends to hog all of the people that other people deserve to finish off… :P
And there/s plenty of rich sissies that fence as a mere hobby..

Cough, cough Yes, he is. Usopp and Nami make a point to mention that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji all have strength equal to that of a monster.

Just a quick shout out and props to ocean for hosting the new chapter and discussion until the Forums came back. If you haven't been to his site, you really should. It's a great place: www.kefi.org
I hate bringing this up (again), but after reading this chapter and seeing Spandam return and Franky being taken hostage like that, I no longer get the impression Franky's joining. We now see that part of this flashback was to introduce Spankind into the mix, as well as the weapon plans and reiterate Iceberg's distrust for Robin. With Franky possibly out of commision over the next few chapters, I think the focus will go back to Paulie as he works with the Straw Hats to get to Eneas Lobby to rescue Franky. Again, I don't want to start the debate over again. It's just an impression I got after reading this chapter since now we know pretty much everything about Franky and his connection with Water 7. It's as if his time to shine is over. He'll probably pull off another Coup attack towards the end of the arc to take out Spankind, but I foresee him being tied up and tortured for the rest of the arc. He'll then make peace with Ice and complete his ship which will get turned over to the Straw Hats.

To which CP9 will respond that it doesn't matter because they're all dead anyway. And we know what happens when Luffy thinks his friends are dead...BOO I hope not.

- The Luffy/Usopp situation somewhat parallels the Franky/Iceberg relationship. Will any of them reconcile? (Icey wanna kiss and make up? )

But you've basically said what's been on my mind here, as to how I interpreted the flashback and what impact it's going to have. I do agree that it wasn't entirely indicative of Franky's joining - I think the coverpage with the GM on the front really solidified that for me. I'll be a not-wuss and still keep my dice out for Paulie, though.

Usopp is totally kickarse as a pimp. Get rid of your friggin' Oshkosh in canon already!

Adding my two cents, and using someone's aforemention of the Franky/iceberg parallelling Usopp/Luffy thing, I'm going to give the next position on the strawhat crew to Paulie. The whole Franky thing will probably go down, after the hardcore battles, something along the lines of Franky and Iceberg getting back together again as best friends. Seeing this will make Luffy and Usopp apologize to each other, and make up and all that. Iceberg and Franky will help rebuild Water 7, 'cause my money is on the place getting F'ed up to all hell in the impending battle.
And, as a final note, I highly doubt CP9 would care about Spandam's past events. They all seem like pretty cold, ruthless guys to me.
EDIT: If this has been said before, forgive me. I haven't gone through the first pages of the discussion

If they go Enais Lobby, Water 7 arc will still conutiue because all of this mess started on Water 7 and the Straw Hats may return after they kick Spandam's ass.

Even if they leave Water 7, the Straw Hats will still have to come back to get a ship as it would be somewhat difficult to build one right under the nose of the World Government. Well, unless they steal a government ship from Aeneas Lobby.
You know what I wouldn't mind seeing?
Franky telling CP9 that he doesn't have the plans anymore and that the reason he doesn't have them is because he just gave them to Usopp before CP9 showed up.
Let's how our Brave Warrior of the Sea deals with that turn of events.
-
After re-thinking Spandam's position within CP9, it makes me wonder whether this whole plan with Lucci & the gang going undercover as well as Robin's situation is all planned by Spandam. We all know how he likes to use someone or something close to that person to go against them, like with Battle Franky.
As for whether CP9 know about Spandam's past, they couldn't care less. CP9 thinks of the government as the absolute truth and they take any orders from above. So if the superiors tell them to follow Spandam's command, they will follow it.
-
well you don't have to be too bright to make such a plan. it's a simple "i'll be back stronger & yadda yadda" revenge plan ;) nad if you're part of the goverment and you're fighting against someone who has the means to "hurt " the goverment you'll ahve no trouble getting realising it ;)
Still Robin's imvolment puzzles me. there's jsut o little info about her.as for Eneas Lobby only Oda knows how much power the goverment has there so i don't think we'll be seeing it. the end fight will probably be on the train like it was mentioned before.
edit although uit would if we got some kind of Indiana Jones scenario with Luffy meeting the "head honchos" while trying to recover someone or something
-
An awesome chapter.
My favourite line of the week was by Franky on board of a ship: This is a place I'm comfortable in…
I wasn't too fond of Lucchi but Spandman just rocketed into my top favourite villains ever. Before he was just a cute bastard but now he's a freaky cute bastard.
Two things I loved about the chapter. Franky enforcing himself with metal and steel was passed by quickly, no reason to spend time on it, and Chopper saving the day was done exacly as I had imagined it.
Eneas Lobby seems inevitable. A perfect place to reintroduce Bon-chan. If Hina captured him then he must be held in there. I would love to see SanjiXBon powerhouse duo.
Where is Sanji, damnit !?
The train leaves 11 oclock. I would expect Luffy and Zoro to arrive in time. I'm kinda hoping Robin saves Luffy again from, well, where ever he falled.
And I always enjoy doing these :P:
- Lucchi - Luffy || Boss fight
- Blueno - Franky || These guys are destined to fight
- Kaku - Usopp || Long noses. Kaku has long range capability and he's associated with the ship
- Califa - Zoro || A whip versus three swords. Sanji would fit better but I think his hand are full with Robin's case.
Edit Nami, Chopper, Iceberg and Pauly will probably enjoy a long rest. And the story screams a roof fight.
-
I have always loved Usop, but, don't blame me, if I say that in this last chapters he has fallen very deep! First of all, he fought with Luffy, knowing he was wrong, and he didn't say to anyone, what he saw that night, on the merry, and who repeared it! Than he's been beaten 2 times by the franky familily! how can he only think to fight against Kaku!!!!???!!! Kaku knocked down zoro with a single finger!!! It's a too far foe, for usop….
-
Finally the flashback is over…
I think that in the next chapter, we're going to see Chopper, Nami, Pauly och Ice discussing about whats happening, and then they meet Usopp and he tells them about what happend to Franky, and then they decides that they're going to Enenas Lobby and svae franky and make sure that CP9 doesnt get their hand on the blueprints.
And i think that Kokoro will find Zoro, floating in the ocean, and then he takes him to her little place, and there she finds Luffy, when Zoro and Luffy recover, Kokoro tells them about the blueprints and Zoro tell her about the whole thing with Ice, and then Zoro and Luffy are going to Enenas Lobby on yokozunas back.
And i think that Sanji met Robin, and he somehow make her to swift side, and then Robin tells Sanji everything about CP9 and blueprints, so they take the Sea train to Eneas Lobby, and there the real fight begins.
Why does evryone want Chopper to beat Lucchi? I think it will be like this:
Robin & Nami VS Calipha
Chopper & Sanji VS Blueno
Usopp & Zoro VS Kaku
Luffy & Pauly VS Luchiand when the CP9 is deafeted, Spandam tries to escape but Franky beat him hard again...
-
Someone's gonna have to take care of Usopp right now. CP9 will realise he heard everything they were just saying and no ones meant to know of CP9s exsistance. Maybe Kaku will be told to finish him off while the others go to the Lobby. Then it will be Ussop's turn to shine!!
singing Let's all go to the lobby, to get ourself some snacks!
-
I hope so. And it was Kaku who recognized Usopp so… Bring it on !
-
Yeah, Spandam is just reserved for Franky. Though I also think it'd be cool if he fought Blueno….
And since Spandam goes to Franky, Lucci goes to Luffy.
To me, Chopper represented the Straw Hats. They've all been beaten, but now it's comeback time.
-
Usopp in critical moments become bigger, I think he will have his moment soon, maybe fight with Blueno.
-

Why does evryone want Chopper to beat Lucchi?
Only two people have agreed with me about it…..so apparently everyone wants Lucci and Luffy to fight just like every single arc. I want the middle of the road strawhats to get some action and I wanna see chopper get PISSED OFF. Who knows what that little reindeer might be able to pull off.
This might be where the crew stands up and shows Luffy they're thankful for what he has done and the whole nakama thing is brought back.
Then Luffy with tears in his eyes will destroy someone's soul. I have a feeling these aren't the last marines/villains that will be showing up for this arc....
-
This is propably my most Far-fetched unlikely theory ever but…
See how Spanda's hair is positioned in the last panel on page 14? Just like Sanji's.
Perhaps Sanji's hair covers a panda mark...?
Based on Ubigs theory about all the oceans being accesible from Marine Hq, this could explain how Sanji was born in North Blue, and then travelled to east blue./end crazy theory.
-
I'm sure the hair over the eye is just to make some crazies coughYOSKAcough think that he looks. :P
This might be where the crew stands up and shows Luffy they're thankful for what he has done and the whole nakama thing is brought back.
First, I think they need to see why Luffy's the captain in the first place.
-
Oi, oi. I ain't crazy although I did actually thought he looks like Sanji, but just only a little though (yeah right ;)). Perhaps Sanji remembered that his long lost brother is working at Eneas Lobby and he went to visit him. <– Mystery solved.
Spandam could be Nezumi of the arc. Like Buc said, Lucchi got to get his ass kicked by Luffy and nobody else.
Anyway, what's Spandman's and Robin's relationship?
Edit:
You think he hasn't proved that already? Wow…..
Luffy has started to lose the grip.

Having his ass handed to him in front of everyone had to damage their faith in him a bit.
And look at Robin. She left because she felt that Luffy wouldn't stand a chance, and she was right. He has to prove to her and Usopp that he's not the one to trifle with, and the only way to do that is to show up Lucci. Or else, she'll leave everytim some damn agent whispers in her ear.

__A lot of comparisons have been drawn between Spanda and Nezumi. But I think they're baseless. Sure, at first Spanda just seemed like a government rat, but not anymore. Nezumi was completely spineless. At least Spanda has some gall.

i'm just popping by conveniently late to express what a great chapter this was.
i think usopp has something stored in his back pocket, his reaction to lucci's glare just was so odd. i know he's not the bravest of the brave, but he has proven himself worthy many times before, and this just isn't the moment to shove a bunny down one's pants! get a grip on yourself, usopp! this isn't the junior chamber of commerce!
but oh chopper, you are the man!
and i have the feeling that sanji's reappearance is just behind the corner.
that's it, now please, do carry on.
-
Curse that Spandam!
If Franky doesn't join I wonder if Ussop will get badly injured and then be rebuilt by Franky as a cyborg. Just imagine cyber Ussop with built in dials.
Oh and once they figure out how to beat the CP9 members several strawhats may be able to do so. Remember how much trouble Sasori gave Luffy, Ussop and Sanji in Skypia, and yet the group was able to beat the other more experienced priests?
-
After read all the post is this thread.I come off with some theory.
Usopp New Weapon
–---------------------
Impact Dial + Gun(as in colour page last chapter)
=Impact Dial Powered GunJust think of if,when Usopp have this gun he will become:a man with running speed faster than fastest animal in Arabasta Kingdom,100% hit gunning skill, invisible bullet and a bullet that attack inner body.So scary.
Bon-Chan
Since they will go Eneas Lobby that might be execution ground, they may meet Bon-chan again. Also, since Bon-chan have Mane-mane no mi power.I was thinking than even his current look(his original form than we love so much) is also a fake look.He may copying that face so that he can use Okama Way skilll better.Bon-chan may appear again with freaking handsome look.
Chopper
Since now he got one of Zoro sword that can cut anything easyly and not like Chopper will met with Zoro so fast, maybe he will use that sword until he met Zoro.Just think of it,walk point biting that sword in mouth and use a midair body spin attack and Jump Point that using sword.

Well, Dials are close range. If you shoot them at someone, assuming that they'd activate by touch, they still won't fly properly and can be swatted down.
His heart will grow stronger, but I want the rest of Usopp to be just the way it was during the last few main arcs.

Zoro's swords alone can't cut through anything. It's the way that Zoro wields them that makes them so powerful. What about Brain Point?_
Shhh.

I do not know if anyone has came with this up yet.
But, the masked party that is taking place at Eneas Lobby, could be a party that the goverment made.
After capturing Franky, the CP9 will succed in their mission, and go to this party (then later they'll came back and torture Franky till he says where is the blueprint.)
So the straw hats will regroup, at head to Eneas Lobby in costumes. And beat the crap of everyone there. The thing is, I'd love to see Luffy's crew getting into that party under some costumes. ^^
-
Well if Franky is rescued he can't go back to Water 7 because he will be REALLY wanted. Seems the logical thing to do would be to go on the lamb (pardon the pun!) and become a pirate.

You know, I really like this idea. Last we saw Bonnie he and his crew were in Hina's custody. And, if you think about it, how much story-time has passed between then and now (a month or so I think).
Another thing to consider, the rumor that an Alabasta character was supposed to appear in this arc. Everyone's assumed that simply meant the Alabasta royals in the Gedatsu arc, but what if…?
