Who here is thinking of writing a manga series?

My idea is this. It's called THE BAND OF SEVEN and revloves around seven friends who are trained by one of their grandfathers too become the next band of seven, there not the reincarnated band of seven. The first few chapters each of the seven use the orignal Band of Sevens weapons. Later on the absorb the elemental powers that orignally belonged to the B7. After this they discover another person called Seraph who has the power of light, he forms his own group of seven to combat the B7. Seraph is wacked in the head and hires a genitic docter to grow him wings claiming to be an angel.
Steven and Chad (ice and fire respectivly) grow apart and form a hatered of each other. Steven decides to leave the Band of Seven after an argument with Chad. Altough they are only six now they decide to keep the name Band of Seven (this becomes a recurring joke everytime they appear somewhere.0

After a two years remaining hiding, Steven finally appears and with him a group of seven warriors all tied in with the power of ice. After some worldly threats pass thanks to Steven stepping in and stopping them Chad, now frustrated that he is the only one left that has not been able to control fire mentally leaves to find someone that can. The five remaining members pay no attention to his leave believing that it's best to let him vent off. However Chad goes too far and in revealing his new power creates supervolcanoes that will destroy the wolrd unless he's stopped. So steven and Chad duke it out causing mass choas and even the destruction of the Andromada glaxay. In the end it is revealed that the only way stop chad is too seprate him from his element, fire. after doing so they find out that in the process chad became brain dead, Steven decides to put him out of his misery and kills him.

Mental manlipulation of an element is something new that I threw into the mix. Steven is unimaginably powerful because of this.
Steven also creates a portal too hell on numerous occasions to speak to lucifer himself, promising that if Lucifer helps him he will liberate hell for him. (he never did). Lucifer creates the choas blades that Steven weilds (two katanas)

Don't worry, I won't settle on stereotypes. In fact, one of the main characters is very polite. It's fun to break stereotypes!

I've got a brief outline of a story, I'll post it if anyone wants to hear it.

Well I am trying to post the "base" of Agent Kay Nine, but the stupid scanner just flashes when I try to scan, but it still makes copies which is weird. Also I tried to go to the software, but it wouldn't pop up. If someone could help me with this problem, I would apperiacte the help. Also if it helps the system is HP.

The reason the face is all messed up was I tried to darken it so that the scanner would pick it up, but that just made the perfect circle look terrible in the end. One thing I do want to add is clothing to the upper body. Also I will be making his eye regular on that one side, was thinking of a story for it, but the fact is I seen too many canine characters who had a scar on their eye. I may also change the concept of the story too to something with them being actual animals with powers since I think that is a bit more unique.

So anyways if the Agent Kay Nine idea is what I go through with, that is a basic outline of what he will look like, though like I said, I am really liking the idea to make them actual animals instead as it would be more unique.

Not necessarily a spy manga, the character is more so a member of the army that is an all rounder (he can do things from running an army group to flying a fighter jet) who has had secret training in the art of hand-to-hand combat and to learn more about the ability of Enaji, his energy blasts.

EDIT: as for the storyline I posted…. Right now i am not sure If my story has been done(I hope not) right now a UPDATE... I finally figured out the minor details and now startingn to fully draw the story on Draft paper(final story will be by tablet I think)...I will Try to post a few pics or character if Possible and decided on a name title too(see under ID Name).

I think that if I want to do a manga after Agent Kay Nine, it would be something I thought I would never be able to get into, sports manga. I became a Prince of Tennis fan as soon as I saw the anime, never gave it a chance until I decided to just watch an episode to see what it was like. I would probably do a combat sport like boxing, kick boxing, or karate though. However, right now I am very serious about Agent Kay Nine so that idea will just have to wait.

It'll be sort of like Gintama from a point of view, as the main character (no names as of yet) will be rushing stuff to meet deadlines, and weird stuff'll happen, yep. Not sure how to give it the spice of life that is originality, I'm sort of thinking that his daydreams and other manga-ka's works will come to life and (violently) attempt to convince him what to do next in his story. Any comments?

BTW, I've finished planning my first manga. All I need to do is get it in "book form" ( a rough draft) make changes, then it'll be ready to draw up. I'm probably… 80-90 pages away though, (I'm on page 76 as of today) so don't expect anythign soon...

I want to write a manga sometime… unfortunately I don't think I have either the skill or motivation required, at least, not yet. If anyone has any good tips on managing to regularly update one's manga, I would be very grateful to hear them!

Currently I have an idea for a story that I've just started to write. I think it would be interesting to turn it into a manga. The whole thing needs much more development at the moment though, and the characters seem all too "normal". Here's a quick drawing I did of one of them. Her name's Ava;

If anyone could fill me in on how to use the spoiler tags I'd really appreciate it… -cough- New to the forum...

EDIT: Also I feel I should mention that that isn't the actual outfit she would wear, seeing as the setting is in a different world, one which involves fantasy, magic etc. I just felt like drawing her in more modern clothes. xD;

I'm also working on another manga called THE GUARDIAN. It's placed in a post Ameragedeon world.
The group consits of Kate(the guardian), Hiro(strongman, crush on Kate,) and Shin(asassain, Kate secertly crushes over). Theres also a talking Duck with them for comic one liners. Two other characters join later on, a pirate and samurai respectivly. So far only the frist three chapters are down so theres not alot of progressed story yet.

It's not really that, I feel that I could write a follow-up series to it, much like Shinsetsu was to Bobobo. To be honest, some of the latter stuff feels like "filler", but I'm trying to make it original so it won't get boring. I feel that the current story revolving around Hekigankoumo can only go as far as I've planned, so I definately planning a follow-up series, rest assured. I want to finish what's in front of me first though. That's why I'm not thinking up anything about the series about a manga-ka. I'm stressed enough as is, my mind would probably explode if I tried to to do multiple series at once. In other news, I managed to fight in a One Piece reference! Nothing big, just a really silly thing is all. I still feel stupidly proud of it though. ^_^

Just got to page 77 of Hekigankoumo (official name, please call it that from now on) and realized that I may or may not have written myself into a corner. Also, I really need to focus on character development more than I have been. I realize that this is the rough draft I'm talking about, but still… Considering how well I planned it and how the rough draft's going, it really embarassing... I switched some stuff around to make it more suspenseful and give the plot twists more impact. Normally I get 2-5 pages done every 2 days, not including weekends, so It'll be awhile before I really go back and work on these problems. >_< And I thought I had enough stress in my life...

I've had this idea since 2 years ago, and I think it would make a fun comic. THe only problem is that I suck at drawing action poses, so i might need some assistance from a friend.

Anyway, it's a comedic story, focusing on two high school students who just happen to get involved with supernatural beings and occurences. However, more often than not, these supernatural occurences end up in comedic situations. I might list an example later.

It's mostly supposed to be so over the top that it ends up a total farce, and basically a parody of supernatural comics and occasionally superhero comics.

The main villain of the story is the Comic Eater, who is much like Galactus in that he goes around devouring comic universes, and he's targeted this one. See, In my universe, the characters are actually in a comic (though they don't become aware of it until later in the story), which adds to the overall silliness of it all.

The Comic Eater attempts to eat my own comic universe, and so the author of the comic must enter his own universe and team up with his own characters to fight this menace (The reason the author can not simply write the Eater out of existance is that the Eater was not created by the Author, and an author can not destroy what he did not create.)

I think the whole "author/comic" plot point adds a whole new dimension to the story, and since the whole thing is not meant to be taken seriously, it also adds a new level of WTF.

So what do y'all think?

Once I get out of high school, I think I'm gonna need to take some art classes. I'm pretty good at drawing static figures, but poses and action scenes are hard to do.

I actually have drawn up some character designs. I'll post them later and describe the charatcers..

I been thinking of a good amount of ideas and I lowered it down to three.

Agent Kay Nine

Agent Kay Nine is about animals that act, talk, and do pretty much anything humans do. Each animal character has some sort of power or something special about them whether it is being a cyborg, having technology that allows them to do things, born with a mutation, just being born with the power, training to gain the powers, or having an item that gives them the power.

The main character is a Golden Retriever like being who is a member of the Special Forces in the Army who's code name is Agent Kay Nine, his real name being K.C. Hunter. His power is a bit cliche, but also it is used to a fuller capacity than most manga/anime I have seen use and that his the ability to create energy blasts. The energy blasts are basically a substitute for a gun. He can also fight hand to hand, which is skilled at. Comparing his simplest energy blast to a simple Ki blast in DragonBall is that his simplist energy blast could knock out a physically build human and kill a almost average human.

Agent Kay Nine is a very nice and laid back person, but if he gets angry or when he fighting a dangerous opponent he gets very serious. He eats meat, fruit, and vegetables like any one else, but he prefers the meat. His biggest pet peeve is people who hurt others.

His side-kick's name is Bobby Doe, who is a Robin. Bobby Doe is one of the few major characters that doesn't have any powers, but he can cartoonishly morph his wing into a fist and in this state use his wings like arms. He is a bit of a coward, but stands up whenever he is finally put into the situation and proves to be pretty strong. However when things are looking grim he will revert back to a coward showing all doubt. Bobby Doe isn't with Agent Kay Nine as soon as the manga begins, but he comes in quickly after.

World of Fighters World of Fighters centers around a 22 year old, Makku Robisan who has a dream of becoming the greatest boxer in the world. Makku was 16 when he joined his high school's boxing team and was cheered on by his parents every time he was in a match. However, at the age of 17 his parents were murdered by a gang of street thugs after his father tried to stick up to them while they were stealing the Robisan's money. Makku would soon after look up to his coach as a father figure and would go on to become the greatest high school boxer in Japan. He has now joined the World Boxing League at the age 22 and is prepared to take on any challenge. Eventually in the story the same thug leader that killed his parents is revealed to be a boxer and Makku finds himself in a match with him. Two ideas I been deciding on was whether to have weight limits or not and if I wanted powers or not. I think I will probably not have powers, but still wondering about weight as I feel a lot more could be done without weight limits.

Red Moon Red Moon would be about Erick Slayer a 16 year old member of the underground group of vampire hunters in North America as the age of the vampires is returning. Eric Slayer battles vampire, zombies, werewolves, and other supernatural beings. Slayer carries a silver katana, three guns (silver bullet, stakes, and fire capsules), and a golden Christian Cross that he wears around his neck. The main villian of the series is Michael "Renegade" Davison who is The King of The Vampires, taking the place of Count Dracula from many years ago. Michael Davison has three goals which are kill Eric Slayer, ressurecting Dracula, and ridding the world of the human race.

So those are my three main ideas for a manga, which one would you guys most likely pick up and read?

I don't want to write something that everyone else has already written; I don't want to be able to say "well, it's like this manga and that story" because I want to find something original! But enough ranting~!

Could be good, goals are always great, but can also be a huge cliche if you don't make it your own. I agree with the others that your drawing skills are very good, I wish I could draw like that, but still praticing so who knows . Character design as of now looks good enough to catch my eye, but what are these character's personalities?

So far I have five reasonably-developed character ideas, and I have a vague idea that the final count of the crew will be seven. Here's the basics of the characters' personalities, in order of joining:

Romae: Male; impulsive, speaks his mind, always accidentally in trouble
Keryl: Female; kind, naive, idealistic
Zei: Male; reserved, moody, arrogant
Ava: Female; aggressive, outspoken, bossy
Ksha: Male; laid-back, easygoing, frank

Of course there is a lot more to their characters, but again, that's the basic idea.

Nah, j/k. Characters look good and some uniqueness here by having the bossy person being one of the last as sterotypes say they are always one of the first two. A few names look Japanese, but actually if you think about it only Zei and Ava are pronounced in a Japanese way (well if they are pronounced the way I am thinking). What shall be interesting is seeing what kind of group this is, especially if it is going to have seven people eventually. Also could you tell me what your favorite manga idea out of my three is? I really just need one or two opinions as I want to see what you guys would enjoy more and would rather read.

I've decided to give main chars (but not THE main char) habits and tastes simmilar to mine. They each get one. Pour example, one is a pregnant fetishist, one is Canadian, one sits with one hand covering his face and the index finger over his eye, so on so forth.

Hahahaa… Although it's difficult NOT to be inspired by One Piece, I tried to make my characters not similiar to the One Piece crew; then again, it's hard to get all the basic contrasts in personalities without being similiar in some ways.

Now to defend my characters! (without sounding overly defensive xD)

The basic difference between Romae and Luffy is that Romae is more intelligent, and he's a craftsman. He built the air-rider that the group travels on, and if they're ever short on cash, the strange inventions he builds in his spare time can usually be sold. He is the main character, but unlike the typical manga hero, he's not actually the strongest of the group. I haven't actually figured out what he's good for in fights, but I think he'll have a ranged weapon attack. He wants to travel for adventures, and to find out who his parents are or were. Also he wants to protect Keryl (huuge crush).

Ozeiren and Zoro I must say do have quite a few similarities... Zei is physically the strongest of the group. He fights using close combat; I haven't invented his weapon yet, but it will possibly be a sword or something of the like. The reason he's travelling is to gather the Stars of Power, rumoured archaic weapons which a foreign country just invaded their own country to obtain. The reason Zei is the one out of all the country trying to achieve this is that his (and Keryl's) father is the brother of the King. He wouldn't be travelling with Romae if it wasn't for Keryl, his younger sister.

Keryl is the one least like her One Piece comparison. She the youngest of the group at 16, is kind and caring to a fault, and is extremely naive, mostly due to the sheltered lifestyle she was raised in. She was brought up by the sister of her mother, in a town far from their parents and Zei, for protection. It is a secret from the group that her and Zei are related to the Royal Family. She is travelling with Romae because in spite of their differing social status, they were best friends all through childhood. The town they lived in was the first attacked by the enemy country. Keryl is journeying to the city that her parents live in.

Wow I'm writing a lot. I'll hold off the other character descriptions until my next post.

Ksha: KSHA [that's a bit of a weird one, but it's fun to say once you've got it :D]

I guess if one was using Japanese characters and then romanizing once more, the names would be spelt, respectively, Romai, Kerilu/Keriru, Ozeiren, (not sure about Ava), Kusha.

In response to your ideas, if I were browsing through manga to buy, personally the one I would be most likely to pick up and have a look through would be Agent Kay Nine. I'm not entirely sure why this is, except that for some obscure reason I really like the name Bobby Doe. xD;;

Yeah I agree, I am no grand artist, but in a contructive critism way they look like well…building blocks as well as the chest.

To indigo I was just messing around and seeing what I could think of for character matching, but I defiantly am not sorry you took it that way because now I know what I needed to know for me to get intrested in the story enough to see what you got going.

Also thanks for the opinion on my work, Agent Kay Nine is defiantly something I been intrested in doing, it was one of my first manga/comic ideas recently and it has sticked this far. However, I also like a good boxing manga and a good teenage vampire hunter story so I am still considering World of Fighters and Red Moon.

The only thing that bugs me about Mr. Evil's idea is the author insertion. That's always been one of those story elements I've hated the most (except Shinichi Watanabe's insertions, but those are mostly gags). It's the kind of thing that should stay in second rate sprite comics.

Hah, I just made of thread for my manga. I should have just put it in here. Anyway, here's one pic found in the thread since I dont' feel like copying them all.

My Manga is called Akuma Sekai. It's about a girl who chases her brother into a world of civilized demons and discovers she is a key, an individual with the ability to open a gate. Now, with her new companions, she journeys through this fantastic world in search of a Gate in order to make a wish back home, and all the way, searching for her brother.

Anyway, that's just the tip of the iceburg for my manga.

Oh, and I guess I can give you the character names in the pic I posted. From left to right, Aisu, Main Character Robin, Itoshi, and Mattaki.

EDIT: And no, that is not their regular clothing. ^^

The only thing that bugs me about Mr. Evil's idea is the author insertion. That's always been one of those story elements I've hated the most (except Shinichi Watanabe's insertions, but those are mostly gags). It's the kind of thing that should stay in second rate sprite comics.

Oh, don't worry. I did the whole author thing partially to parody that, actually. The series is basically one big farce. Plus, the author character isn't a representation of me or an ideal me. And it's not like the author is a main character or anything. I'm only gonna have him show up in one or two story arcs throughout the whole thing.

his name, well the name known around the world, is "Sabres" (not Sabers, pronounced Sab-ress). He's leader of a 10 man organization(insert some cool sounding italian word here), and the main character in one of my random stories.

@ Double; Ah yeah, I see what you mean. The Agent Kay Nine plot seems to be the most original to me. I do like the title "Red Moon" though, sounds mysterious. xD

@ Mr. Evil; I really like your manga idea! It's just that bit different, and the overall concept is intriguing. Even just reading through the summary got me interested and wanting to know how it would turn out. I hope to read it someday~

@ Hitotsunami; Nice pic, impressive detail. You should post more about your manga on the thread.

@ Rusashi; You're looking for constructive criticism right? The character seems to be leaning to the left slightly. A good way to check if a picture is looking natural is to reverse the image. This can be done on editing programs like Photoshop for example, or just by flipping the paper and holding it up to the light.

And just to finish up the character descriptions:

I forgot to write last time, Keryl is adept with magic. She specialises in healing spells, but is also used to using defensive and observational spells (she can scry to see the future or past). The fourth category of spells, attack, she is reluctant to use, however she is eventually forced to.

A year or two ago, Ava lost all her memories. She is on a quest to discover her identity. She is strongly resistant to magic; it has practically no effect on her. Like Zei, she fights close combat; and also like Zei, I'm not exactly sure what her weapon is yet. Details, details.

Last but not least, Ksha. He is a powerful sorcerer, specialising in battle magic (attack and defence). He has had a curse on him as long as he can remember, which as a child caused every living thing which touched his skin to die. Hence he accidentally killed his family and many friends and people of his hometown when the curse was first invoked. As he grew older he learned to be able to control the curse to some degree by exerting a large amount of his energy, so that instead of dying, the person who comes into contact with him simply has their energy drained. He seeks to find a sorcerer powerful enough to lift the curse.

I can't really explain my story without giving out major spoilers because of the first chapter. All I can really say is the basic overview.

Robin Shimizumi is an orphan girl who is lunged into a world of civilized demons by making a wish with a Key infront of a huge Gate. ( There are 5 Gates. Each one has the ability to grant a wish to anyone in the presence of them when they are opened. They can only be opened with a Key, and there are only 5 Keys. As you can see in my Pic, Robin, my main character, has a Key. ) She wishes to go into this world because 10 years ago, after a horrific spoilerish incident, her brother leaves into it.

She meets 2 Ox demons, Itoshi and Mattaki Oushi, who have their own wish ( also spoilerish for now ). So they team up and travel the world of Akuma Sekai in search of a Gate and making thier wishes come true.
