sigh And my lovely theory about Hildon goes down the drain. Oh well, the chapter looks good anyways.
I'm curious, what was your theory?

Mmmm. A very good chapter. Thank you, doflamingo 37.
I'm really loving Usopp's new attire. It's a very different and interesting choice for a strawhat pirate. The mini-merries are a nice touch, and hopefully will please those who don't want to stare at the head of the Going Sunny every chapter. And I think I'm finally warming up to Franky.
Ok. So we've got a ghost island with a great mad scientist living on it….and he has some connection to chopper. great stuff.
It seems obvious (to me, I will leave open the possibility that I am wrong) that most of the craziness on the island is, if not directly Hogback's doing, somehow related to him.
My guess is that luffy pounds the crud out of of Cerbefox eventually too.
I just looked more closely at the animals hooked up to the carrige. One is a centaur and most of you noticed, but the other looks like a psycotic jackal to me.
So if the Dr. really created that Cerberus and Hildon, then Brooke knows of this doctor and think he might be able to make him some skin?
Sweet! 67th post on page 4!
Ha! Nice. and I'm 106 on page 6 - woohoo!
Sooo…There appears to be a poltergeist on the ship. Is it friendly, hostile, or just screwing around? It seemed to like Robin, but tried to kill Luffy. It also didn't let Sanji leave the ship, but didn't really hurt him either.
Wouldn't if be funny if that Cerberus thing was friendly, and just the pet of Dr. Hogback?
Yeah, it seems benign so far, but also very bull-in-the-china-shoppy – a big friendly sheep dog that doesn't realize how strong it is until it knocks you flat on your face while jumping up to greet you..
I get the feeling that it's "herding" Robin, Franky, Sanji, Luffy and Zoro so that they can't easily leave the ship. It's playing a silly distraction game with them now, but I bet if someone tries hard to get away from it, that poltergeist will turn MEAN.
Why would it want to herd them? I have no idea. But maybe it it's trying to keep them away from the other three : Usopp, Nami and Chopper.
[thanks again to everyone who brought us this week's installment!]
my theory is that chopper was warned about this evil doctor and see a summary about him next chapter also the number 82 is on Cerberus on page 7
my theory is that chopper was warned about this evil doctor and see a summary about him next chapter also the number 82 is on Cerberus on page 7
Most likely more, Cerebus was number 82
i lighted the page to see the eight
Usopp: You say he's our Nakama… but I object!!!
Anyone else find some irony in this?

Why would he have been warned about a guy who odds were that they would have never met? It's more likely that Dr. Hogback was one of the doctors that Chopper studied under Kurhera…Or he could be the secret of her youth...Which would mean that she knew him and may have mentioned him to Chopper. But this is just speculation.
My theroy is that Hogback and Hiruluk kicked back and drank some brewskies. Its not impossible, I mean he did travel before he settled in Drum.
BTW :
Ussop Don's arguably his second coolest outfit eva!
I dub it:
USSOP VAN HELLSING
I don't like the fact that Franky still calls Luffy "Strawhat". Shouldn't he be a bit more personal with him now, you know, seeing as how he is part of the crew now….
That reminds me of something. How does Robin address the SHs now? I don't remember seeing her calling anyone yet.
Other than that, this is not too bad a chapter, with quite a lot of materials pack into it (Unlike the last few chapters of EL arc). Lets hope this arc doesn't progress into N, U and C being helpless and waiting to be saved by Luffy and co.
Hey, does anyone besides me think that the docking system is Cool!!!!!????
Also….Panda Man was spotted.............
So much madness in one issue that it boggles the mind
Was it's just me or did Robin ever said Franky's name? Ever since they met, I never hear her say his name.
Robin will refer to Franky as Shipwright-san. She usually refers to the crewmates by their positions on the ship.
@Hyper:
Anyone else find some irony in this?
Not really. It's like saying it's ironic that Usopp doesn't call Kuro nakama.
You can't trust what you see as a bad idea.
@Pass:

So you're saying Brooke is a bad guy?
They knew nothing about Brooke. Luffy wasn't thinking when he invited Brook. Luffy knew a little more about his other crewmembers, even Robin, before inviting them onboard. They even objected to Robin joining until they got to know her and why she is the way she is. Luffy invited him because he thought he was cool and was funny.
Plus, a lot of people misunderstand Usopp, and I think that's the problem. Usopp's only a coward because he has low self-esteem. It's not that he's afraid of Brook; he's afraid of the negativity he would get if Brook did turn out to be a bad guy and he got beaten by him. It's kind of difficult to explain. Usopp is like Shaggy (Minus the stoner attributes). He's reliable, he sticks up for his friends, but he's more or less "expected" to be the coward, and that's his fault.
Hahah, I love how Usopp and Chopper still have their Exorcist gear on.
he's afraid of the negativity he would get if Brook did turn out to be a bad guy.
Like I said, you can't trust what you see as a bad idea. I didn't say Brooke could be a bad guy.
Usopp never trusted Kuro from the start.
Usopp still wearing his Mihawk desguise, Mini Merry, Robin fanboys drooling?
Once again, this chapter has everything.
haha some character development for the three weakest mugiwara. This arc will help Usopp's dream along.
Meh perhaps Dr. Hogback is a alchemist?
Hmmm maybe he's trying to find the philosopher's stone as well.

Pssh, another person who probably hasn't even read or knows how to appreciate Arakawa-sensei's Work of Art.
Anyway, BoT:
The 21 on Hildon's head may have to do with the Isshi 20… perhaps he was the 21st candidate that didn't make it. That would explain why Chopper knows him. Or it could just be the number of his experiment, like someone mentioned.
Btw, Dr. Kureha's secret of her youth was explained by Oda in an SBS: It's her happiness.
Thanks for the links! BTW it could be me, but shouldn't it be "Adventure on the ghost island"?

Now that's just mean. Fullmetal Alchemist just happens to be one of my top favorites besides One Piece and Konjiki no Gash Bell.
It was just a joke geez…

As was my comment. No malcontent intended.
Anyway, If Hogback gave Brooke skin, then his shadow wouldn't fit (I know that sounds strange). They need to get his shadow back first before they try getting him a body.

Ah well okay…
Heh if Brooke get's skin then he won't be all that special anymore... I mean what good would he be? Unless it's easily removable like clothes or something.
i don't think it's the 21st try to make it: f you look closely there's an 82 over a dog head! so maybe it's just the number of his "experiments"
edit: didn't see kma and others already said it in a previous topic, sorry
Wow, amazing chapter. I'm more excited for next week than I have been since Garp showed up.
Anyway, something interesting about the chapter that I think really says alot about how good Oda is: Up until now, with the business of it being Franky's arc, all of the chaos, and all of the introductions to the new Thousand Sunny, I've gotten into the pattern of looking at the Strawhat interactions in two categories: Franky time, and everyone else time. It was always either Franky talking or fighting or explaining, OR someone else doing something. But today, when I looked for my Franky time, there was really very little. He meshed into the crew so damned well, with all of the little things he adds to conversations and the things he does, it's like he'd been there forever. There is no longer Franky time and everyone else time: There's only Strawhat time. Damn, I love this story.
Great chapter. My favorite parts are when Luffy and cia are attacked by the poltergeist, the Mini-Merry and the vampire guy. I'm very expected to meet Dr. Hogbag… he looks like sort of centaurus hybrid, doesn't he?
It doesn't look like Hildon is afraid of Usopp's garlic… so I don't think that he's a real vampire. Yeah, he's likely an experiment.
So, right now we've got three possible villians: Brooke, Hogback or Hildon (everything is possible ) Well, the "Nice guy, probably a new crewmate but evil in the end"-story was already in Water 7... it would be very strange and boring to do the same thing one arc later. One point against Brooke as villian (... I think oô).
It seems like Hogback experiments with living creatures... yes, sounds cool, but it is really cruel in the end to create such twisted beings. And maybe Hildon is angry because he was created... we don't know. There are still too many possibilities.

I assume you're talking about Kaku. Luffy never asked him to be a crewmate.
I assume you're talking about Kaku. Luffy never asked him to be a crewmate.
I'm talking about Kaku and Lucchi. And I meant our view, not Luffy's. When Kaku, Lucchi and Pauli made their first appearance, nearly everybody was like "Ohmygosh who will it be?" Kaku and Lucchi were possible crewmates at this point. When Brooke is a bad guy too, it would be nearly the same situation: possible crewmate is a bad guy in the end.
Brooks doesn't sound the "surprise villain" type, but who knows?
I hope the boss arc is a ghost pirate, a jerk of the same kind like Don Krieg.
Oh come on…....Brook is the person who is the least Villian material I have ever seen. Your looking to much on apperance, he isn't evil just cause he is a skeleton, and Luffy never, and I mean never asked anyone to be his nakama that turned out to be evil later. Heck, he never even made friends with a later evil dude. He just thought Kaku and Lucchi were cool, but he found every weird dude he has ever seen cool.

Mr. 2 could be considered in this case, but I think he was just loyal to Crocodile at that time.
Does Brooke's name tell his birthday? If not, there's a chance he won't be joining, which would be a pity.

Note that he sacrificed himself to save them in the end, so he can be considered as someone who has chosen the right path in the end, and therefore wasn't really evil, though the question of what is "evil" is pretty complicated, but I won't go into any paradox stuff right now, cause I'm to tired.
Oh, and Brook is a walking, talking skeleton, you got three trys to guess what his birthday would be
whoah… such a great chapter!! thankyou ^^
I can't wait to follow this new adventure with these 'unique' creatures ^^ and looks like the one who'll explore the island are the one who doesn't want to. XD btw, is Nami just try to mock Ussop by doing the 'I cannot get to the island' thing? or is she really mean it?
the unseen enemy also very interesting, but how dare 'it' licking Robin >=(
oh, and Sanji XD
really curious about what'll happen next ^_^
As to Brook's brithday: Luffy's birthday clue is in his Devil Fruit, gomu (gogatsu muika, 6th of may, if I remember right). Brook's is bound to be based on his yomi fruit, expect something like the 3rd of April (yongatsu mikka, although shigatsu is a more common word for April).
This got me thinking, with all the bad luck the number 4 brings in Japan, it's really cool that the Strawhats would land on the ghost Island in chapter 444!
By the way, when's Franky's birthday?
well, i thinks it more likely that his birthday is on halloween eve.. ^^
@Monkey:

Actually, Luffy´s birthday is based on his personality (Children´s day, May 5).
If Brooke does join, I would like his birthday to be on November 2 which is ¨All souls day¨ in the mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Hehe, I liked the part where Nami and Chopper were using Usopp's "I have ________ syndrome". That was priceless.
do i sense an epidemia of the "i cant go to that island"-disease?
