Sure. Soon as Spiderman's DEAL WITH THE DEVIL TO MAGICALLY DIVORCE HIS WIFE AND UNDO TWENTY YEARS OF CONTINUITY is undone, I'll read regular Marvel books again. ...or at least that's what I tell myself but it's been so long since then I don't even know. I never expected that mandate to last decades. I've now spent almost as much time not reading the books as I did reading them.
I'm not even saying he an MJ need to be married again. Or that Peter's identity needs to be public again because they undid all of Civil War. Or that they need to bring back the organic webshooters. They just can't be divorced due to a DEAL WITH THE DEVIL that was nothing but positives for Peter.
And yeah, I know they've retconned that some a few times since to make it more palettable, MJ's choice, and they briefly looked like they were going to pay it off 15 years later with Harry actually being a result of that deal and all... and at the end of the day still couldn't do it.
Yes the stories always get regurgitated and deaths never stick and rosters constantly change and retcons happen with every new writer, and no one is ever happy for long, but that's just part of the whole comics thing. Both Marvel and DC had managed to do a continuous story my entire life since the time I could read until my 30's. Thousands of books. Then they did reboots and said "that's all gone now, the versions of the characters you've spent years with are different now in completely random ways and all that continuity is gone."
Oh yeah, they also spent 10 years doing the Ultimate line and then just sort of train wrecked that into a conclusion too. At least it had an ending I guess, even if it was basically the worst possible ending.
Both companies gave me walk off points and I took them. I stick with indies and Image comics now unless its a complete stand-alone one-off. Even if the stories and creative team are good I just can't deal with them anymore for the ongoings.
I'm ever so tempted to pick up Spectacular Spider-Men since Greg Weisman (Gargoyles) is writing it but...
The fact that DC after a few years re-merged New 52 with the Post-Crisis continuity doesn't work either because that is such a mess that makes no sense.
