This set doesn’t have a ton of great content on it. Next set is Roof Piece & Ishitani, though.
Question about this set is whether the first recap will be included, whether that’ll be a Blu-ray-only feature, or whether it’ll just never be dubbed.

I think the recap specials will be dub. Since that the Film Red Shanks recap episode got dub. Plus the recap episodes were part of the main volumes on japanese home video release of the series with the actual episodes.

I never watched the recap episodes until the Shanks one dubbed on the bluray. Idk if the others are like that one, but there was enough "non-recap" content to warrant the dub I believe. It was more like the Reverie Recap episodes than a straight Clip Show. Has anyone watched the Wano ones and knows if there is any "original" content, like the Shanks one?

No, the “original” content is a chibi version of the character narrating the events thatve happened so far and making jokes while doing it.

Another update on catching up on the dub. I'm currently at Episode 839 (The Big Germa 66 Super Sentai transformation episode). The dub did a great job on the Wedding/Tea Party episodes. I only heard the dub voice of Big News Morgans before during Stampede. Now that I heard more of Morgans english voice, I really like it. Same for Oven's dub voice as well, since I only heard his english dub voice with Film Red until now. I like Stussy english voice as well. It fits her character perfectly. The Brook stuff in the english dub of Whole Cake Island continues to be amazing, and it been a highlight of the dub for this arc.

They're probably counting the recap episode as well. Which makes it 13 episodes.

Its been increasingly more difficult to justify purchasing the physical release lately. But I just got my Collection 32, and I must say, the Voice Actor panel was such a nice treat! I really do miss the episode commentaries, but I hope they keep giving us content like this!

@Nitwit Since they came back from hiatus (Punk Hazard). Every DVD set before that had at least 2 episode commentaries per set of 11-13 episodes (So 4 episode commentaries are in each Collection set). And then usually there would be one Special Feature per set as well, ranging from Trivia, to personal interviews, to Outtakes, to Event Panel recordings.
Now, theres....... nothing.....
Just look at the Wiki and you can see clearly the lack of content since Collection 24

The German dvds cost way more and don't even include the Japanese dub. I was always amazed at Funimation including special features in the first place, that just doesn't really happen for anime box sets over here.

Okay so that’s weird, the preview for the recap special is still used at the end of 1004, with barto narrating and the title in the english text and everything.
Part of me suspects they may be subbing them but they’re just not included in the standard releases for some reason, since they’re part of the total episode count on CR and you would have to awkwardly switch languages as long as it just like autoplayed.

@Blake-Bakes-Cakes It's depends which version of the Crunchyroll app, you're using. On the Crunchyroll roku app, they still got the dub and sub as separate seasons. While on the fire stick and most of the other version of app have already merge the dub and sub together.

I rather it be Funimation/Crunchyroll. Since alot of the episodes on streaming sites still refer everything up to the half way point of Whole Cake Island as being dub by Funimation.

Looks like we're getting Gear 4 Luffy for Collection 33. Pretty disappointing, since there are so many great characters to feature, but oh well. At least theres another nice special feature this time!

At least its a drastically different form, Sanji was just in a different outfit. I agree though, Id prefer new characters. My theory is they’re probably trying to make covers more recognizable characters to increase sales.

I just noticed they use “Gear Four” instead of “Fourth Gear” in the summary. Ngl that combined with all marketing using Gear Five Im scared theyll just jarringly change the terminology in the dub.

First Sanji, now Luffy again... yeah, it's weird that there's so many characters they could use, but I guess that now they're well into the timeskip territory I suppose reusing characters at this point is fine, especially with their new designs. I fully expect Gear Fifth on a cover in the future.
As a side note, I feel like Enel should have been on Collection 8 and not Merry lol.

Yeah, I noticed thanks to Gear Fifth's prominence on social media they're really pushing "Gear Five." Doesn't help that the way it's written in the manga and anime is "Gear 5," but it's meant to be read as "Fifth," sort of like how you would read today's date, September 15, as "Fifteenth."
Honestly seeing as the Gears have always been straightforward in their format i.e. "Gear Second," "Gear Third," "Gear Fourth," etc.... It bugged me when they first started using "Gear Two" and "Gear Three" which I first noticed when they did the manga speedup back in 2009, and they were using "Second Gear" and "Third Gear" in the simulcast subs at the same time IIRC. There was no fuckery in Unlimited Adventure and left it as "Gear Second," so I don't know why things had to get complicated.

Unfortunately its uh… its only that episode. I double checked. Why the hell its important in a recap special but not the main show is beyond me.
Anyways, glad its dubbed at least. Had a feeling this would happen but still weird it was straight up skipped over in the digital release.

The same happened with the Shanks recap episode on the Film Red bluray; while 1029/1030 used the standard Wano dub credits the recap credited the same actors as the original.

Weird. Maybe it has to do with when they were recorded? Or they were recorded out of order? No idea. Hopefully all of them start giving full credits soon.

For some reason, don’t find the group Akazaya attack episode as emotional as when I watched it in Japanese. My wife noted that Kiku didn’t join the joint attack with the other swordsmen. Any idea why not? I hadn’t even noticed.
