I can imagine giving people false hope about Reze and Quanxi coming back but we only get whip girl, lance dude and flamethrower man.
Chainsaw-man

@JulieYBM He Looney Tune run towards the door to appear before Sugo on the staris.
-
@PatTraverse I'll be, mostly okay with that. Quanxi already had a connection with Kishibe explored in complementary content. And Reze with Denji on the manga. And Katana man is done.
Reze only comes in play to joever Ashley and Dennis couple.

He's so shameless, it's just so hilarious.
I need to re-read Part 1 and re-watch the anime, I miss this silly little franchise so much.
-
@pariston_hill I also say that because Quanxi and Reze are foreigners. Unless they still have business in Japan, they don't really belong there.
-
American Ultraviolent Space Rays.
Flammenweffer is back. Also Fujimas just leaked part 2 plot.
-
wait...is that Kobeni's brother (or family at least)?
-
@puffing-cinema yes
-
I can't believe there's room for a new car-chan to mingle looool
-
@puffing-cinema There's some speculating that Nobana is transmasc or just using the college brothers uniform because their parents threat the rest as shit.
-
that would be insane, I'd love to see it. There's still a brother who's suppose to be in college, right? So that would make 3 Kobenis in universe. nice.
-
Eclipse in the Chainsawverse.
-
@pariston_hill Getting involved in a creepy cult would just taint them.
-
Denji got a fan. A creepy one, but alas.
The Hybrid Theme Park Massacre sounds like a 70s B movie. -
I don't know why but I just don't feel like there is a substantial story to these chapters.
It just feels like its slice-of-life chainsaw man.
The chainsawman religion just comes across as parody or a big joke, except, I don't find them annoying or interesting.
As funny as Denji's basic human wants being portrayed as his ultimate end goal is funny. Its also not sustainable? Both our main protagonists have no interesting goals or missions they are pursuing.
I don't know man, the story is slowly losing me. Might just take like a 3 month break. Come back to it in december and catch up
-
its the slow burn/build up period I guess. Although whether that will pay off or not is another matter on it's own (Fire punch had good moments but disappointing ones too). But what is sure as per Fujimoto's writing is that some unexpected wild shit will go down once everything spirals. So something wild will happen soon. He also planned part 2 for a while seeing how he took a break after part 1 so he certainly isn't making things up on the fly so you can expect some sort of delivery for all this slow burn chapters.
Me? I just miss Asa. I like Denji but Denji works better for me when he is with the trio. Not that he is bad now or with Nayuta just that he was so much more enjoyable with Power and Aki.
-
It just seems to be that people that have some disappointment with part 2 just miss the crazy pace of part 1 and balls to the wall action. Fujimoto said that part 2 would be different.
I still very much enjoy it as i am a fan of Tarantino or a series like Mad Men where things take shape slowly until they come to a crescendo. Of course it will be disappointing if all the build up leads to nothing and we end up trolled but i doubt that Fujimoto would to this.

My problem with Part 2 is precisely because I don’t feel like anything is building up, but instead they are just accumulating? My feeling is we just have a shapeless pile of stuff that keeps being added to it but nothing really is communicating anything and it just gives Part 2 a feeling of lack of substance (and I end up not finding the funny bits funny, just forced; nor the touching bits touching, just empty).
-
Quanxi!!!!! It's so good to to see her again.
Those weapon hybrids didn't last too long.
-
Not a single Sapphic woman on the internet not screaming today.
-
Reze copium gained more points.
-
Is that Cosmo on a new body? Should I have recognized the body?
-
I don't think it's Cosmo. Just another fiend with exposed brain.
-
I thought it was Cosmo at first too. But the lack of Halloween obsession tipped me off lol. Looks like...nail fiend?
Katana man!!!!

Yoshida is not beating the Kishibe cosplayer allegations

Mitaka Asa sure does wind up in the most tight situations.

I will just reference my post from a few days ago:

... because I think here it is again.
So the Chainsaw Man Church comes out of nowhere. Sure, Part 2 began with CM being regarded as a hero by many and that was an interesting change.
But suddenly we have this Church that regards CM as a god on Earth, with many units, a lot of money, access to forbidden stuff like guns, contract with devils, hybrids on its numbers, a huge following of young civil hunters who believe the CM teachings are gospel... No build up, just suddenly this incredibly huge and powerful organization.
But ok, let's see where it's heading, it might be interesting. They are making their move, but they are attacked and... one chapter later they are entirely subjugated. Not to mention Asa, our deuteragonist, who entirely off screen became a huge celebrity. But we don't get to see any of her during it, because I guess showing such a big development for one of our protagonists is not important.
But who knows, maybe Fujimoto is hiding her because things are not exactly as they sound and once we see her there will be a surpri... oh, I guess not. Here she is just living her life as usual. It's just a bunch of ideas being thrown one on top of the other with no proper build up, development, anything. It's just so bad!
Just venting out because I liked this so much, it's really a shock for me to see how insipid it became. Definitely dropping it. Maybe in a couple years I check on it again.
-
@access-timeco I wouldn't be as severe as you are, but I definitely share some of your critiques. Until now I've absolutely loved everything that revolves around Denji, his relation to Asa or girls in general, his frustrations, ... Action scenes are over-the-top in a good way like they used to be, no qualms either.
But...The story lacks a binder to bring all these elements together. Everyone wants to manipulate Denji for their own agenda, except it's never clear who "everyone" is, what they want exactly or what cause they serve. Everything feels disconnected because we're only given crumbs of the overarching plot. Famine devil is (maybe ?) behind the Chainsaw Church who wants to force Denji to turn into Chainsaw, yet she was also trying to get Asa/Yoru to kill Denji. Fall devil wanted to kill Asa in order to gain control over War - who do they even serve? Government Devil Hunters don't want Denji to turn into Chainsaw, yet this chapter they say it wouldn't have hurt if Asa had turned him into a weapon... Fujimoto likely has some sort of plan that might make sense of everything in retrospect, but at the moment this is reaching Blame! levels of cryptic and giving me a headache.
-
World war chainsaw.
-
So...Fami wants...a world without death? Hmm...
-
I don't exactly blame her (or any one of them tbh). Death would literally kill everyone if decended and then there are no humans (and potentially nothing at all) left. This is a pretty clever strategy to get Chainsaw Man as War stronger.
-
@JulieYBM who would cook with out humans Julie, think.
-
the fire devil's idea of spreading is so out there that I had to do a double take before I figured it out.
I guess Fujimoto will nwo cook. -
Well...That's a plan for sure. I'm all for super-duper-duper awesome Denji .
I'm not quite clear as to why a second Chainsaw killed Asa's friend early on in the series and if both were Fire Devil's contractors, or if she was bound to the real Justice. Also fuzzy on who it was that posed as Chainsaw and saved Denji and Asa from the (actual Justice Devil ?) when Fall devil attacked. But, at least we're not completely in the fog anymore.
-
@Seafarer33 Probably Baren, and also probably Baren. At least those are my bets now.
-
Woohoo ! Quanxi action ! Denji will have a hard time surpassing that when he springs back into action... If he ever does, that is - it just hit me that this may be a bizarre equivalent of Ippo's undending retirement arc.
-
Zombie Lesbian-senpai!!!
I would be fascinating to read what Fujimoto has to say about this arc when they are finished.
-
This chapter art was rather rough, take a longer break Fujimas.
-
i'm a bit bored by the church, it's members and the plot overall right now, I hope there's something meater ahead!
-
Yoru powertrip
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1019002 -
I agree with @puffing-cinema this arc has been incredibly boring. It doesn't feel like anything worthwhile is happening.
Like, I'm ready to see something interesting happen. I'm ready for Denji to have some character growth and dimension.
I get it, he's basically a bored god right now. But you know, Saitama is also a bored god and he' s still interesting, 3 dimensional and has some actual character growth.
I also feel like this whole Church of Chainsaw man just isn't hitting because it feels like extreme Parody. No nuance.
-
I recall the author saying that Yoru is supposed to be the main character for this part, that might be why Denji isn't doing a whole lot because he'll easily outshine her?
-
I think the worst part is wasted potential cuz A Church doing Really Bad Things is a theme I always appreciate and here it looks too bogus to actually cause a lasting impression? It seems to never hit anything in fact interesting. The church smelled funny since it's introduction, the conception is quite looney tune-y after the first visit and it's kinda burning down now? The fire demon being able to copy chainsaw-vessels is a bit in the air as well...
well, Yoru powertrip was insanely satisfaying! I was waiting for it for quite some time, the sword looks really sick as well. Had fun, but the reading went by so fast is felt like something was amiss.
-
I think some of the issues people might be having with Chainsaw Man 2 is in the pacing. Part 1 was very bombastic and there was a lot more action happening with shorter arcs. Just for comparison, at this many chapters in the part 1 manga, Denji was fighting Reze while riding a Shark into a Tornado. We've had the same amount of arcs so far (five) but there hasn't been nearly as much action happening (which I think is because of the setting. There's more reason for fights when the gang where hunting devils for a living, rather than just going to school).
