It's the year 0096,so it's after CCA.
Also,if you haven't seen any Unicorn before, you shouldn't see this yet, this from the sixth episode.
Ahh true, is Unicorn any good?

I guess most people would say so.
It definatley got some impressive production values and presentation up it sleeve,so it's definately worth a try on that merit alone.
Gundam: The Origin is getting an anime next year. Not sure if it's an alternative version of the original or a prequel or whatever, but colour me intrigued.
Personally I'd really like to see Day After Tomorrow - Kai Shiden's Report translated.
Where is the Gundam Wing remake??

It is pretty much that.
@Formation:
Where is the Gundam Wing remake??
Wing itself was basically a loose remake of the original series. And so was Seed.
And Wing, while the most popular in the states, (because it was the first here and it was flashy and new) is a pretty shallow Gundam series.
"See for yourself just how shallow a Gundam show you are!"
"Roger that."
Yeah Wing blows. Seed blows. Etc.
Any love for Victory here? It's probably my favourite of the TV series
Yeah I love Victory.
I have the damndest time coming up with a triumvirate, but my favorite Gundam shows are Turn-A Gundam, Gundam X, Victory Gundam and 0800 and 08th MS Team
G Gundam up there too although it's hard to factor in due to its black sheep status
it's just been a damn long time since I've watched any so figuring out an order to things is pretty wishywashy.
Also, Wing is impossible to take seriously once you start realizing ALL the pilots are gay.
Nothing wrong with that, but it changes the intended tone of the series and ALL the character interactions pretty considerably.
Yeah for real and it's not even talking about like "lol GAY people are so INHERENTLY FUNNY"
Wing would still be hilarious if half of them were women
It's just relationship gold
Wing…So much shipping going on. 1x2, 3x4, 5...Treize x Zechs.
Relena crushing on Hero was always so weird to me. I kinda though "Oh, honey...no. Just no."
Gee another masked character in Unicorn. How many times are they going to abuse this trope?
It was pretty cool the first time, but it is pretty bleh at this point. I wish the Gundam franchise would subvert this concept and do something new with it, but fortunately Code Geass did it already so shrug.
Well, Full Frontal can't go around being "The Second Coming of Char" without a mask…
@The:

The best is Duo, the only one to even pretend to have a girlfriend. Hildy is sooo just a beard.
HILDY: Duo… we're alone. I'll do anything for you... seductivley Anything you want at all...
DUO: Hrm, well I could really go for a steak right now!
Gee another masked character in Unicorn. How many times are they going to abuse this trope?
Given that Char (in Japan at least) is about as iconic as Darth Vader…. Gundam series are going to continue having masked antagonists forever. Its part of the show. Nothing wrong with that since it's part of the franchise's blood and was there from the start.
And hey, every series is SOMEONE'S first Gundam.
It's like asking for Pokemon without Pikachu. You just don't do it.
I just wish they did something radically new with the mask trope, but I suppose asking for something radically new in Gundam is expecting the same for Pokemon.

…such as? Its there to hide a guy's identity. What more do you want? For the heroes to wear it instead? Two people posing as the same guy?
@RobbyBevard:
…such as? Its there to hide a guy's identity. What more do you want? For the heroes to wear it instead? Two people posing as the same guy?
You pretty much listed the two scenarios that I would like to see attempted to mix things up.
I just feel I have seen a lot of the song and dance already in the Gundam franchise. However, since some are somewhat "remakes" of the original, I suppose that is expected.
yeah the multiple people under one mask thing is actually a cool idea robby.
There's three iterations of Char that get drawn from at least, so I'd never say it's really tired (it's more just really played out as an angle) but we've reached the point that there have been enough Gundams, those three iterations of Char have actually gotten decent similarity coverage which is kind of hilarious.
Sometimes in the case of Harry Ord or SCHWARZ BRUDER they swap it up enough that it's only sort of arbitrarily in the "char clone" trope, by way of mask and role at best (like Harry is kind of like Quattro Bajeena's mentor role), but they are both very much their own characters. And Gundam has only reused character types as much as any other series and franchise ever has, it's only really notable because fans and the creators have embraced it so much
But because masks are like my favorite character identity distinguisher ever, I would really like to see it a bit more… interestingly? Like twisting it up to play with expectations is always fun. And 00 kiiiind of did that? (Though i hated the show itself)... At the same time, for that same reason I don't mind how it's been done. There's only been a couple instances a character was like totally 100% just a real clone at least!
Gundam 0083 will always be my all time favorite, but I grew up watching WING.

I feel tha same way about recycled Gundam stuff in general.
I guess it is the reason why I feel like I've grown jaded of the franchise.I couldn't help but heavily roll my eyes during "raging unstable girl in a giant giant robot" drama in episode 4,because I have seen this stuff numerous times before and will likely see it many more times in the future.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
With an actual remake of the original coming up,I kinda hope they'll stop making stuff that's supposed to be a different story, but has the same goddamn' events going on becuase TRADITION.But then I guess they'd also have to do Zeta and CCA remakes while at it.

I read that as 'Haro' and… yeah.
If I'm honest with myself though,
there are some Gundam tropes that are guilty pleasures. I don't know often this one shows up, but any that character that kills/eliminates newtypes based on skill alone (as well as causing a lot of hilarious collateral damage to his own teammates) is welcome in my book. (Also it's a plus when the character is ugly as sin. I fear the fairly new gundam series has very few ugly looking characters compared to the past gundams).
Aka.
Captain Beavis:
Yazan was awesome as fuck.Even as he became some weird Hanna Barbera villain in ZZ.
He has the hair for it.
It shoud be noted that the best Gundam installment never came to be:
I feel tempted to start calling 'em Gundams "Doozy Bots" from now on.
Watched into 1 minute: "What the hell does this have to do with gundam"?
Hit the 1:30 mark: "Holy shit!"
I can't believe this thing existed. It must have been one of those weird "splice-fests" like Power Rangers back in the day.
There was totally a gnome riding a mechano strider in that video…
So guys, has anyone here seen the latest Gundam,AGE?
First episode felt a bit too sterile when I saw it,so I decided to lay off for the time being, but now I hear that it has dethroned GSD as the most badly written Doozy Bot series. Some of the spoilers I've read sound hilariously bad on the level few Kubos could match.
So,before I myself hesitantly delve in,are there any opinions here about the series?

Also, you know what needs a side story?
Char in the period between Zeta and CCA.That's because his character pulls 180 compared to his Quattro days for no apparent reason.Infact,he doesn't seem to sane, nor do his motivations make much sense("I'LL HELP EARTH'S DECAYING ECOLOGY...BY THROWING GIANT ASTEROIDS AT IT AND CAUSING NUCLEAR WINTERS!").
There's like this missing link in his development. At this point my personnal fanon is that he just hit his head real hard.
^ Well, the Quattro persona was little more than a facade that Char put on while searching for a purpose in life (when confronted by Hayato, he said he's Bajeena "for the time being" if memory serves). There was also a lot of uneasiness between him and Amuro as they worked together, moreso than with Bright, so it's pretty safe to assume that he still hadn't gotten over Lalah's death. I agree with you though, the change in personality is a bit too drastic. A midquel would be a great addition to the UC timeline.
The final Unicorn OVA is coming out like next month, right? I watched the first episode but then held off so that I could watch all the episodes together. The soundtrack's phenomenal, though.
^ The sixth one will be out next month, and there's one more after that.
Kids'll watch anything. I recall liking a ton of stuff I can't stand nowadays. I haven't watched Gundam since I was a kid though, so no comment there, although I recall liking it quite a lot back then.
I still like Gundam enough to have a sort of a small attachment to it and hold some of it's installments in high regard, but I on the whole,I'm pretty much jaded.
Back when I was 14 years old however…I pretty much worshipped that stuff to a fault. All those people dying and giant robots were o awesome and DAARK and crawling in their skin with explosions and stuff.
Now I'm done with Zeta…
! can't say I cared much for the ending, it felt like the writers decided to kill off everyone in the finale just because there hadn't been enough deaths in the first 40 or so episodes (I think 0079 had a higher body count but I could be wrong). Kamille getting brain damage was pretty heartbreaking though. All in all I enjoyed the show, but not as much as 0079, 0080 and Turn-A.
Watched,or rather, tried to watch Turn A Gundam's first movie compilation.
It's so badly edited it hurts.Scenes follow each other with zero transition at times.Like there's guys in a middle of something and BAM,Loran is in the cave somewhere attacked by that Corin Nander guy.
With the obvious exception of the original trilogy, are there even any Gundam compilation movies out there that can act as reasonable alternatives for the series they are trying to substitute? You know, the reason they are supposedly made for?Like any at all?
So, I've made some progress in the UC timeline:
ZZ had a rocky start and was often more annoying than funny, but the later half was easily on pair with Zeta. I didn't like what they did to Yazan and Haman however. Char's Counterattack was good, but flawed. To be more precise, Quess is everything I dislike about anime squeezed into one objectively horrible character and her existence alone kept me from giving the film a higher score than 7/10. I'm pretty sure her only fans are pedophiles anyway. There's also the lack of connection to Zeta and ZZ, and how both Char and Gyunei seemed really petty in the end. Notice how quickly the latter went from "I must prevent Char from doing something crazy" to "I must bang Quess"? It's a shame, because he had potential. But CCA also had a lot of great moments and the main theme gives me goosebumps.
Now I'm taking a break from UC until Unicorn is done.
Alright I am pleased to see this thread open for business! I am a casual- medium level Gundam fan. I only read the manga because I don't have the time for much anime since Gundam can be quite an epic challenge!
So far I have completed: 1. Mobile Suit Gundam (Kidou Senshi Gundam)- 2 volumes.
2. Gundam Wing- 3 volumes.
3. Gundam Last Outpost- 3 volumes: this one is in the same universe at the same time as Wing just on the other side of the universe.
4. Gundam Crossbone- 6 volumes.
So what would you recommend based on what I have chose to complete already?

Have no idea if it has a manga, but I'd recommend looking into G Gundam. As long as you don't mind everyone being a national stereotype. (My favorite is that neo mexico's gundam is called tequila gundam)
I love Hetalia so I don't think that would be an issue lol, I don't take it seriously. And G Gundam does have manga, I think most Gundam series do. I will see if it has scans though lol.
If you're gonna read Gundam manga, then you need to check out Gundam The Origin.
Dunno, about G Gundam manga though. Can't guarantee it being on par with the series unless Imagawa personally wrote it or something.
Well I decided not to read any Gundam that isn't fully scanlated, because otherwise I might forget what happened. I can pick out those when I get to Japan and can get whole runs of stuff.
I have decided to watch the Gundam battle anime because I can't find the scans, and to be honest I would like at least 1 Gundam anime on my anime list in my lifetime.
Finished watching the sixth episode of Unicorn.
Gotta say, this is the first time in a long while when I was able to properly enjoy an episode of Gundam Unicorn outside of robots smashing each other.Probably has something to do with the an unusual lack of "homages" this episode. The situation Nahel Argama's crew and Full Frontal's forces found themselves felt fresh and it was interesting to watch that kind of set up unfold, and NotChar's ultimate plan turned out to be something that's intriguing, makes sense and doesn't involve dropping colonies on Earth for the umpteenth time.Using economy to defeat the Feddies?Cool.
It's also the first time in ages that I'm actually gonna await the next episode.I'm feeling somewhat pumped, even. Two sides tensely racing against each other to get the box was what it should've been in the first place, instead of a "what old scene do we emulate next" cheklist with high production values.
I was a little dissapointed by Zeheart using Legilis Gundam. That fight vs Asemu was short and he had the more advanced machine. The fight was a disappointment.
Jesus Christ, how ?!
How many years has it been already ?!! How do these two Mary Sues remain so gundamn popular, how ? Did the anime industry fail to produce another Mary Sue couple to replace them ? Do they have some secret appeal that I don't get ?
Is it due to the SEED HD remasters airing lately ?
It's pretty hilarious. But mostly sad. But what do you expect from Newtype target audience?
Although, Kaiki coming in fifth is something I don't expect from Newtype target audience. Is the age of mainstream conman upon us?
But what do you expect from Newtype target audience?
Moving on to other bad characters at least ? I'm nearly disturbed by this couple's enduring popularity.
I hope Char and Amuro rank at the top once Origins airs.
BTW, I've been hearing good stuff about Build Fighters.
Can anyone here confirm if the show is trully good ?
Newtype rankings stay steady for a long time. Nadia was in the top 10 for nearly a decade and still pops up from time to time.

I've seen a few episodes, and the animation is Sunrise's usual goodness, but the story seems a bit childish from what I saw. My roommate watches it and says the story's like a long-runing children's show (think Pokemon, Detective Conan, etc). He watches it for the fights, which imo are pretty good. I remember hearing there are fights between gundams from alternate timelines/series/time periods that otherwise wouldn't meet.
