@CosmicDebris:
There's a difference between people who really are depressed and troubled and people who are just wanna be emo types. I have a friend who cuts herself, and while I don't really understand it, I've gotten to point where I don't freak out about it or make judgements anymore because I know her reasons. Her mom is truly evil. She's mostly stopped now anyway. I never thought of her as being "emo".
Some people are just acting that way to get attention. Any type of phoniness to get attention is lame. And some people just need a reality check. Just be careful about who you judge.
I don't think this is really all that new, though. All this stuff people are talking about was around when I was in high school 10+ years ago. ^^; My niece is in high school now. It seems all the same, just different clothes trends.

I had a friend in high school, who was emensly teased, like me…but it got to him worse than me. He went through this really bad stage, a few months before graduation. He used a tack to carve his name in the back of his hand. (I think the scarring is finally fading after several years) The day before all our friends were going to go for a group grad photo, he shaved his eyebrows. (I've got the picture to proove it.) It finally started really scaring us when he was asking us what would we wear to his funeral.
He wasn't EMO, like so many people describe on here. He was really emotionally disturbed from all the crap in his life. Not only were people cruel at school, but I got a really good feeling his dad was a jerk as well. Anyways, we ended up calling our school councelor worried about him and not knowing what to do.
Happy to say, he got help, and people to talk to, to help him sort out his life, and he is doing good now.
whiney kids that complain about anything and everything need a reality check. Try trading places with people, who's lives really do suck, and then try complaining about stupid crap. Quit trying to take attention away from the people who really need it. rolls eyes I wasn't fond of teenagers even when I was one. for this, and the fact that 95% of them picked on me. I wish people would just grow up and put themselves in other people's shoes. That would really make me happy.
