Holy shit, Asa's thoughts are so fucking real.
-
Asa is a philosopher of the depressed.
And to not let it pass by, the talk on the chainsawnosphere is who Viz version is so compressed that it's basically putting a VHS filter on the pages. -
The MangaPlus release is usually so blurry that it's hard to look at lol.
-
@JulieYBM that's whats been commented, it seems the other mangaplus versions are not that blurry.
-
Asa's suffering is somewhat enjoyable.
-
Asa is so much fun as a character. I think there's some real catharsis to seeing her struggle through her depression but still come out in these funny, comically self-aware ways.
-
Great chapter. It took a while but Asa is finally paying off as a character. I remember when we had that shoe chapter I felt like even though the scene had an amazing concept, it fell flat because we had no attachment to the characters (nor they had any form of prior relationship), but now the character is already familiar enough for moments like this to work. You can really feel Asa being exhausted with her behavioral patterns and even a devil seems to be worried watching it unfold.
-
Cool chapter, I love how it's not even the ones with devil attacks in them that are the most enjoyable.
Depression devil incoming, you think? Asa was having thoughts that may -or may not, she's a teenager after all- be a little extreme coming from someone who simply did not get asked out by the person they do not care at all about. Then the second she asks herself if she's better off dead, everyone in the nearby building seems to have reached a similar conclusion.
-
@JulieYBM not sure if you already tried but the 3 dots at the upper right allows you to change the resolution to high.
-
Well, it helps a little bit (assuming it clicked the three dots correctly).
-
The heights for some characters were displayed at the Chainsaw Man Anime Exhibition:
Denji 173 cm (transformed 180 cm)
Makima 168 cm
Power 170 cm
Aki 182 cm
Himeno 175 cm
Angel 155 cm (with halo 165 cm)
Kobeni 155 cm
Beam 165 cm (with fin 176 cm)
Kishibe 194 cm -

New Primal has arrived.
-
“Ruler Sword”
What? Since when can she pull powerful weapons out of n-… oh, that’s what she meant.
-
So on what Kagi said

Whole lot to reply

Ooh I had completely missed that lone girl. Now you mention it, the composition does set her appart from the crowd.
I had initially assumed whatever got up from the pile of bodies was the primal devil, but after checking it's not quite as bizarre as the darkness devil. Maybe a summon indeed. -
how stupid must you be to treat a Famine Devil some food? The victim is to blame, unfortunatelly.
Nostradamos being cannon in the CSM is kinda funny. Which year is current year in the manga? 1998?
Wednesday Addams is supposed to be Death, right? The Giant Woman remindes me of Asa's friend from the beginning of part II.
-
Death is one of the 4 horsemen and it's a primal fear, so I don't think there's any misidirection there. The thing that came out of the corpse pile doesn't have the same impact as the darkness devil but it could be an incomplete form as it's just been summoned. If that's the final design of the death devil then yeah, it would be a bit disappointing.
-
we have famine, control and war so death coming was inevitable. I think death will have her own faction (might be the seven) and can serve as a great antagonist for a while that requires Denji and Asa to work together again. There's a chance that the devil at the end is not death but one of her followers since according to famine, they are heralding the devil which implies it's not here yet.
-
Falling Chef.
-
-
Eww...I did think the new devil was missing a head last chapter, but I had not anticipated that's how it would go about finding it.
So, not as weird as Darkness, but definitely in my shortlist for creepy devils. So much for the lone girl up in the balconies by the way, she must have been a red herring in the end.
-
Does falling into depression/despair work the same in Japanese? With "falling into"? That was thematically interesting. And the chef gimmick hints that she's working with Famine, as expected.
-
banger chapter
these sky-doors made me think of hell. maybe the floating people are being delivery directly to the death devil - my guess. therefore, that's why she's a chef? she's feeding the death devil...?
the whole "your traumas are the metric to your punishment" reminds me of Osiris and his feather.

Still think she was what allowed the Falling Primal to spawn on Earth, and what caused the mass suicides that spawned her body.
-
@pariston_hill That would be an interesting tidbit even if the story doesn't bother to give confirmation anytime soon. The kind of "told ya" detail I would totally enjoy seeing in the CSM equivalent of an SBS.
-
Started watching the anime and I'm halfway through the first season. Man, this show is just pure testosterone. Good though.
-
Got to episodes 8 and 9 of the anime and, uh...holy shit.
Those last two episodes really elevated this series into something else.
Also, can I say I really like how the ending credits for each episode is unique.
-
I think Tanaka's episode is still my favorite but every episode definitely had a nice feeling to it. With the way the endings of each episode were handled it felt like the episodes were meant to be connected together as a singular film, so I have to wonder how intentional that way.
I'm hoping they wait until they can just animated the rest of Part I together as a single season without any breaks but I imagine that we'll still be getting two seasons instead of one because of how fucked up the industry is now.
-
@JulieYBM
If the quality of the episodes are going to be on the same level as season 1, than I do not mind having 3 seasons in total for the first part of Chainsaw-man. -

-
I feel like its going to be Season 2 and then a movie. The last arc of part 1 is probably the right length to be a movie.
-
Soup. War detective.
-
The transition to Falling devil was awkward and it took me a while to understand, lessening the impact of the scene. Will the caterpillar be relevant or is it just for shock?

Falling-chan is a thief

what a fast chapter. and it was a bit of a dull one at that...lightly on the boring side, even.
-
God, I love Denji. What a hilarious appearance he made. I like how quaint the Falling Devil is. Just on her gay little way doing her gay little thing.

FOOOOOOD Fight

Man, Chainsaw is as subtle as ever with the fighting.
-
I feel like we're on the cusp of Asa learning that Denji is Chainsaw Man. That is going to be a hilarious conversation.
-
it's just so funny how stupid Denji is, lol.
-
@puffing-cinema Don't you also shove a saw into your head when your having an emotional outbreak?
-
I wish I could lobotomize myself daily!!!
remembers Severance
uuuuuuh, you know what nevermind that
-
Life is so stressful. I've literally wanted to be a bimbo for, like, a decade. lol
Denji might have problems but I think he's very calm, all things considered.
-
Not even in the brink of death can Asa be honest with herself.
-
@pariston_hill self-performed lobotomy with a chainsaw will do that to a man, I hear. Or, just being a man.
-
Denji:
