i guess 8-12 months break until part 3.
The Breaker
-
-
I read a 6 month to 2 year break, and then maybe they'll start part 3 of the Breaker. lol - so I'm just going to assume that part 3 will never happen.
The series started to suck anyways, so whatever. Veritas was much better.
-
6 month to 2 year break? The feeling when you catch up with last 20 chapters only to discover you'll have to wait 2 years to read more. If lucky.
It did start to suck, but I'd have to disagree about Veritas. Not that it was bad, but much better than Breaker? It had plenty of faults.
-
Veritas is beautiful, and the fact that we will never see part 2 is the single regret humanity shall have as the sun engulfs our dead planet. So, yes much better than Breaker, and I like Breaker.
-
Yeah, I spent an hour searching for info about part 2 when I read all of it. Such a shame.
Speaking of Breaker, I wasn't much of a fan of the new drawing style. It worked most of the time, but part 1 was more convincing. For example, Nine looks like some slim male model. He was never that buff, but at least in part 1 he looked a little bulkier. Heads seemed too tiny from time to time.
-
Veritas never got a part 2 because the creators made too many plot holes and inconsistencies while writing part 1. They decided they were better off starting over from scratch, and came up with some crap manwha instead. It's a shame because Veritas had amazing art and a hilarious main character.
Breaker is in a much different situation. It's a resounding international success. It would be a terrible financial decision for them to start something new rather than going back and finishing the story. And some time off to reflect might do them some good. There were a lot of great aspects of part 1 that just sort of got abandoned in part 2. Like humor, for example. Part 1 had some great humor, but I'm not sure part 2 had a single funny moment in it. The fights in part 1 also seemed like a better representation of martial arts.
-
I don't really know where Urouge got his info since that's way off. The author wanted to do a sequel but he couldn't since sales for Veritas part 1 were really bad. He did give it an open ending in case they ever went around to doing a sequel. The author blamed the horrible sales on how bad the Korean print market was at that time and he didn't want to turn it into a webcomic. The author also had some disagreements with the artist during serialization so they went their seperate ways after the series ended. He's currently doing a webcomic called Werewolf Breeding but that has been on indefinite hiatus since April 2014 since the creator had personal problems.

tldr: Veritas 2 ain't happening.
-
But now I definitely do want to go back and re-read Veritas. Tons of potential, and such lovable characters. Similar situations too, except after losing his teacher, Ma Gangryong relied less on magic flashbacks for technique powerups and more on (if I'm remembering right) his own intuitions. Pretty cool.
-
One question I have about the breaker part 2 is whats up with the government guy, in part 1 it seemed like he was working with Kaiser, but in part 2 he seems fully committed to the government and is completely blindsided when he finds out his boss is working for kaiser
-
I think I'd have to reread everything in order to try to give an answer. Maybe Kaiser himself was pretending to be something he's not in the part 1, or something.
Things have been pretty messy in part 2, especially the latter half, but I think at least a part of blame lies on bad translations.
-
So I just saw this - http://www.mangareader.net/the-breaker-new-waves/201
Bye, bye, Breaker.
-
I'm glad. Korean Bleach was getting ridiculous. New Waves was trash, an hopefully they can churn out something that was on the same quality level as the first part.
-
Not saying the quality didn't drop tremendously, but I hate having my story with unresolved stuff get cut off.

Supposedly says we're getting part 3 of the breaker in the second half of this year – so, starting soon (tm). Supposedly.

That's great news. Was waiting an eternity for this.
-
Heard that news when it came up in January. They didn't give new info since then, but reiterated that the author is working on the script. Even if not this year,I hope it will start next year at
least, since Promised Orchid has ended. -
they hired a colorist so its definitely happening and in full color to boot.
-
Part 3 to start from this May.

Oh man I’ll have to reread, never finished new waves
-
Finally. That really was a long wait.
-
When I saw this thread as the newest updates on the main page, I figured it had to be some unrelated minutiae, a sketch on the author's twitter or something.
Don't even know how I feel about it at this point, guess it's exciting?
New Waves was far less engaging than the original series, imho - I hope the new set is good, even if different.
-
At the midpoint of New Wave, it was quite clear that authors duo were not interested in the project anymore. They rushed to end it. Let's see whether they can handle it properly this time. They are switching to webtoon format also. So, that's another big question mark.
-
Where's the best place to reread the series?
-
Manga hosting sites are also hosting it I guess.
-
Here I am after 10 years lol, look at my avatar ,damn, that was Beelzebub, it was the sht back than.
Although I'm happy we finally got our season 3, I'm not sure If my old ass can tolerate that punchbag of a main character anymore, hope its not the case in S3.
Oh yeah, there were some people here that liked Veritas along with The Breaker. Veritas' author has a new manwha called Hoarding in Hell, its not bad.

Just started rereading part 1

High five for Beelzebub. Miss its shenanigans still.
Well since he was about to be trained by that geezer, I'd expect he gets better, more confident.
Might check that HIH thing, thanks. Nowadays I'm more likely to read webtoon format since it's a lot easier to get comfy with my phone.

I was one of those people! Thanks for the info.
Edit: Oh, it's one of those video game insert genre things :( sadge.

Not a fan of that device either, but stuff like Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect The Dungeon, Omniscient Reader, The Gamer or Solo Leveling aren't half bad. Skeleton Soldier especially surprised the fuck out of me after a slow start.
-
It’s good to see Beelzebub appreciation in this thread, God I loved that series, it deserved a better anime
-
It also deserved a longer and better final arc. Why was it rushed, bad sales?

Yeah, it is not exactly a Veritas V2 but still, it is dope to see the same art and the mc's look alike. And while on the topic of art, this new seasons art sucks balls. You can make IG/IRL meme from Sera's pictures.
-
Just finished part one! I'll start part two soon, still trying to juggle reading multiple manga series as well as reading the massive series that is the wheel of time
-
https://mm-scans.org/manga/eternal-force/1/
Part III started 6-7 days ago.
6 chapters have already been released. -
Wait what? How can it have that many chapters already if it started about a week ago?
-
Most likely simultaneous release.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! After seeing the past story in Manhwa format, it is now clear to me that webtoon format is artistically inferior. My personal opinion though.

! you're not wrong. with a few exceptions (dragon thing was cool) it's pretty much 100% inferior. and the art was what set this series apart in part 1. part 2 had momentum. this has… idk
-
What's webtoon format? Those long panels that seem like vertical spreads that are far too long?
-
16 characters of yes.
-
Is this Rocky 5 now? Kid gets trained, lets it get to his head and becomes a douche. Probably not, that'd be interesting.

Just the right size for smartphone viewing.
Feels awkward when you read it on a tabletop but so does traditional manga format when read on a smartphone.
-
It's a shame that the old style was abandoned for this. I'm not a fan of webtoons and the reading format, I feel like webtoons strip manga and comics too much of the elements that made it great such as panel positioning, page composition and the linework that goes into a manga.
Webtoon always felt like fastfood to me, it's easy to read and digest but ultimately lacking compared to manga. I would have preferred the breaker to release slower than to adopt the webtoon format but I know it is a korea series. I just don't like webtoon as a medium as much as manga, I did tried a few but it never stuck. I know there are great ones such as ToG and I read that during a period of my life and I distinctly remember that little to no character designs from that series stuck in my mind. Which is also the same for a lot of other webtoons. I'll still follow this but it's just a shame. -

I'm unfortunally getting an error message here.
-
Sites down it seems. Chapter was there. New chapter will be released on Thursday every week.

I see. It's my first webtoon so I didn't even notice that there's no overlapping panels respectively a page with more panels. Gotta say I'm not sure on the "right size for smartphone viewing" thing. Those "spreads" or whatever they are called in a webtoon are far too long to fit the screen. And you cannot further zoom out. I prefer to see the whole image, doesn't matter if we're talking tiny panels or double page spreads. But scenes like the jump on the bus just can only show only a part of the whole image. Are all webtoons like this or is this specific to the Breaker 3?

I see. Well I'm sure, it'll be available somewhere at some point.

Rightest possible size then?
Yeah those long ass spreads can be frustrating. Some authors use it more than others. Can be frustrating when you want to take a nice screenshot. My Galaxy S21U can screencap like double the size of the visible page and even that's not enough for some images.

I can imagine what a hastle that is. This images really make only sense if you actually print them out and make a poster out of them. There's no other way how to properly enjoy the full picture.

Well there's some authors who use it creatively. Like I read some of Hellper and one character hits the other one from the sky and the author notes that you should scroll down fast, and you get an effect of the character that was struck falling towards the ground at breakneck speed.
Here's the chapter (11) if you wanna see. Or you can try it from the start. It has an amazing style.

Wow, that indeed worked well. Something like this I can't complain about. Thanks for sharing.
