I was partially close.
As Mangold said, there's a constant "turf war" at Warner that gets in the way of getting anything out. He wanted to make a Sandman series over a decade ago. Decision makers not being on the same page ended any traction that existed for it.
With Marvel, no matter what changes at Disney, Marvel is left alone with Feige making decisions whether a film is received well or not.
After Iron Man 2, Thor and Cap 1 didn't get the best reception. They kept going anyway with what Marvel had planned. No reception has stopped a Marvel film from getting a sequel.
The only setbacks have been bts issues with Universal and Scarlett. Now, Hulk most likely gets another film and Scarlett will produce another project for Marvel.
With DC for the last 12 years, as Warner changes at leadership, DC would have to switch gears and have conflicting ideas.
Safran is bigger news than getting Gunn because he is 1 of those producers who complements Gunn the best. Gunn is exclusively working on DC too. Both Guardians the film and special are at least 95% done.
This confirms stability over the next 4 years. Also good news with them being the ones to overlook DCEU, while De Luca and Pam get the other works like Reeves, Todd, and whoever else that is making a non DCEU project.
With that amount of time, they can decide on whether to extend or restructure the deal too.
