@Robby:
Yes, its all politics and number crunching instead of doing the right thing. Instead of having crystal clear messaging that its the right thing.
Not truly what I am really saying but okay let's go there a bit and full disclosure have been drinking a bit so sorry for typos or coming off mean ahead of time.
So first off, yes. 100%. We want the right thing to happen of course but if we fuck up our chances to do it? The right thing won't happen and the wrong people will stay in or gain power. Most Americans want to get over Trump than see Biden waste his political capital on what will be viewed as petty revenge. Let the New York AG handle Trump. Higher chances of him going to jail that way than Biden wasting his time when he could be helping Americans. Which is what we want. Badly after this failed admin.
@Robby:
And that's why Trump got the second highest vote count in history. Because the case, somehow, wasn't actually made clear that he's corrupt and incompetent. SOMEHOW 73 MILLION PEOPLE thought he was doing fantastic during a plague filled recession with record job losses and 3000 deaths a day with rising racial tension and after finding out he was a billion dollars in debt and fleecing people to pay off the russian mob. How bad a job at messaging do you need to be doing for THAT to be successful?
Blaming Democrats for how Americans and our media think and feel go nowhere in my book. A lot more people went for Trump for many reasons. He lost old white folks more in Florida but gained more with Hispanics. Why is that? Have you asked that question?
It ties to the fact all that you said gets lost sure but more pointless impeachments that can't go past where they already did won't open people's eyes. It will lead to why are Democrats not helping Americans like Trump wants to do? Why are they getting in the way?
The case you want to make? It was made already. He lost the election. Be happy with the win and look at where we are. Biden saw where we are at. Nancy saw where we are at. It's why he won and we kept the house.
@Robby:
Cult of personality and "just voting down the ticket" only goes so far, there is no reasonable explanation for THAT many people being okay with Trump's performance beyond… they just somehow weren't aware it was actually that bad because they only got the spin and never the reality. . Biden outperformed all previous records too and that's great, but holy shit by pure votes Trump is the most popular sitting president in history.
Maybe look at what was always there? Trump just unlocked it. Plus there is a sitting president just having a good base defense. If you look at every reason Trump did as well as he did. From the racists to the "he is god for the economy" to the "we are in a crisis and a sitting president is safe" to the fear of socialism it all makes sense.
The reality is we have a lot of hard right-winger voters and voters willing to go to Trump for many reasons. It's not the Dems' message being bad that causes this. Or the media either. Look they are throwing Fox under the bus anyway. The people who want Trump want Trump. We have to win around them
@Robby:
That's why half the elected Republican party just threw their weight behind a really stupid coup attempt. Because they think there will be no consequences and that the dems are weak and will roll over against anything they try.
They did it to make Trump happy knowing it goes nowhere. They know there will be consequences to not doing that. Trump will throw them under the bus. That's why they did this. Not everyone can be fucking Murkowski fending off a Tea Party goon primary challenger. Trump can and will make their lives hard even in safe R states/districts.
They should fear Dems because Dems are winning in swing/red districts. The fact that they are not is why they are so fucking stupid and you should not give them this credit of knowing better. The country keeps becoming more Dem every year.
@Robby:
That's why if Georgia isn't won in a few weeks, McConnel is going to singlehandedly block everything again for the next two years including basic government functions like allowing cabinet assignments and helping people out during a pandemic!
This is true. But will add it's why Biden is picking people that will all most likely get throough no matter what and so far no Americans have too much of an issue with his picks.
@Robby:
That's why Biden isn't saying "We absolutely need to do a green new deal, because saving the planet is more important than re-election."
He won't say it because it's devoid of content and barely deals with the climate. It's Bernie's stump speech and AOC's FAQ on it said it would ban cows. There is a reason Mitch brought it to a vote yes, it helps Republicans more than hurting them like actual climate plan like Biden's. Yes there is politics there but the Green New Deal is also hot garbage. That's why you won't hear it from Biden or any serious politician.
@Robby:
This should have been a 60-30 Blowout. Biden should have taken 40-49 states and won by 20 million. Like Bush/Dukakis or Reagan/Mondale or Reagan/Carter or Nixon/McGovern or Johnson/Goldwater.
Those types of races are just not going to happen again for the foreseeable future. Dems at minimum have to win at least 3 million more votes to have a chance to win while the GOP can lose by 3 million and still win. We are not in those eras anymore and we should take into account that while looking at how blue and center left the country actually is and getting.
@Robby:
It should have been a sweeping referendum against the racism and incompetence and job loss and it wasn't even close.
This was a referendum on Trump and it was not even close for him. He lost by over 4 points and 7 million votes. You got what you wanted here? Trump lost and he lost bigly. Be happy! I was giddy as fuck at 3 in the morning on election night because I guessed right 4 fucking years ago how this would go but mostly for the fact he lost! I don't care about being right as much as I am glad he is gone! And his bullshit lost. Look at why he lost and everything I am pointing out of course but be happy this racist, sexist and rapist piece of shit lost! We won! Wooooooooooooo!
@Robby:
They pulled their punches to end up with a close race where they lost seats?
That's not what happened at all. It was not a close race at all. They had to defend vs slogans like "defund the police" and the socialism label. Biden is even talking about those terrible slogans with black leaders right now because we all know what went wrong downballot and it was not from pulling punches but having to defend like we always do. If you going to talk about this we must come to an understanding why Biden won in not a close race and why we still kept the house while losing seats that are normally GOP controlled as of two years ago. Like do you understand why they went back to the GOP 2020 vs 2018?
And if the show was on the other foot? The GOP would be sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy they won the White House and kept the House. It's only a Democratic thing to act like we lost when we won. Because we don't know how good we actually have it in my view.
@Robby:
Final total is going to have Biden up by something like 7 million votes and 300+ EC votes its still being disputed as a tie that should be overthrown for over a month?
By Trump and his most die hard of voters. This was always going to happen when he won 4 years ago. Biden won and they don't live in reality but he won! Take pride in that and work off that.
@Robby:
Political calculus is all well and good. Election is done now. After Biden is in there's two years to pursue and clean up this mess. If a LOT of people aren't in jail or stripped of power after this, they're going to repeat it in two years, and then again in another two, and just keep doing it until they win once, and then never give up power again. Can't just sweep it under the rug in the name of unity or the 2022 elections, there HAS to be a cost to all this.
People wants things to get better more than they want revenge. The GOP will be in power again. It's not an if, it's a when and I rather while we are in power make it harder for them to do bullshit again in the future by doing good by the American people.
The cost you're asking for? Is the Dems lose power for the GOP to do this again faster and maybe worse. The cost you want them to pay will be paid by us hard working Americans who just want things better and lead by clear Democratic leaders
@Robby:
It didn't work THIS time because they're being led by morons and the margins are too big and they didn't bother to manufacture any evidence before claiming fraud, but they won't always be this stupid about it. And they're clearly more than willing to go along with it. If it was one state and 10k votes it'd be a completely different story. Or if Trump won this time and they had another four years to kick out everyone that wasn't loyal before this test of democracy came?
The thing is the more smart versions of Trump are very unpopular. Look Ted Cruz at the moment will never be president. They are unlikable.
And the question game means little. We won here. Biden would probably win again vs Trump in a 2nd match and the rest of the GOP hopefuls are not as liked as Trump so their chances are bad.
All I am saying here is I don't disagree that rights need to be made but that we need the political power or in the case of the New York AG the right kind of law power to go after the bastards. What you ask for just results in the GOP gaining power again. Because the Dems are not just fighting the GOP here. As evil as they are. We are also fighting the media, we are fighting for the swing voter and we are fighting needless pointless infighting by own party by the few numbers of the squad. Which got worse after Biden's win for no reason.
We need to win by a lot for what you want but if we are going to keep sending the message the Dems are at fault for all our shit? Well we will be back to Trump in 4 years if people don't grow up already. The political reasons are married to the moral reasons. If we don't connect the two, we will be back to Trump or worse in 4 years
