I think the editor gets better later on. I downloaded an Impel-Down ep as a test and it's definitely not seamless but it's not too frequent or jarring.

Lets wait for One Piece kai guys.

The one I tested was Sabaody, which isn’t much sooner. Maybe I had a bad few scenes, but the sound editing was pretty bad. He says he’s new to this, and some sound editing is just nearly impossible without serious work, so I can’t blame him, but it’s also hard to overlook when watching.

New clip. Did they get Major Attaway back as Urouge, cuz he sounds a bit different. -
New clip. Did they get Major Attaway back as Urouge, cuz he sounds a bit different. That one has slight spoilers in it, for anyone who wants to go in pure.
Gosh do I hate Luffy’s ridiculous hat.

New clip. Did they get Major Attaway back as Urouge, cuz he sounds a bit different.Judging by his Twitter, it looks like he lives in New York now, and is starring as Genie in Aladdin on Broadway. So I'd say it's safe to say he's been replaced. At least for the movie, since he likely only has a line or two.

Seeing Stampede in a packed theater was one of the best experiences of my OP fanboy life. I had a great time just like when I went to see Film Gold.
I'll try to catch the dub this weekend. -
Behind the Scenes of the dub for Stampede with Colleen featuring footage of her, Stephanie Young and Daman Mills
-
Yay! She says Mike McFarland directed Stampede.

That's been known for quite a while now lol
-
Watching Daman Mills scream is the funniest thing.
-
I've just seen the dub version of Stampede, and I can confidently say I enjoyed it way more than the sub. The quality of the dub was insane, even my friend who've never watched the dub for One Piece was raving about it. Kudos for Funimation for putting together such an amazing dub.
Johnny Yong Bosch as Sabo is million times better than Vic. Also Douglas bullet, whoever that is, he was insanely good. He fits the role so well
-
Thought the dub wasn’t anywhere until tomorrow. Glad to hear the praise. The clips have had me mixed so far. Can’t wait till tomorrow (and then again Wednesday!)
-
So if we are thinking November and after this dub movie premier, maybe next Friday? Then FUNi can just put out 13 episodes the first Friday of each month.
-
@LUFFY#1:
So if we are thinking November and after this dub movie premier, maybe next Friday? Then FUNi can just put out 13 episodes the first Friday of each month.
Here’s hoping! I’m sure they want to finish promoting Stampede before they work on promoting the new season, so it’ll probably be at least a week—maybe a few more—after Stampede is entirely out of theaters. That’s my best guess. It could always be later, but I’m hoping “coming soon” means 2019. I really hate it when companies use that phrase; it’s so vague that it could mean anything from 9 minutes to 9 months. Of course, that’s the point of them using it.
-
A few notes about the dub:
- Bosch is excellent as Sabo
- Laugh Tale is used instead of Raftel
- Bege is now pronounced like the Japanese rominization but without the accent
- Phillip Webber doesn't have the exact sound that Ed Blaylock had as Sengoku but he's still good
- Chris Rager is very good as Blackbeard and sticks very closely to what Cole Brown set in place originally for his voice
- Sounds like they dropped the sort of accent that Lucci had for his very few lines in the movie
-
Judging by his Twitter, it looks like he lives in New York now, and is starring as Genie in Aladdin on Broadway. So I'd say it's safe to say he's been replaced. At least for the movie, since he likely only has a line or two.
Checked the credits; took pictures of all the credits. Major Attaway is credited! Any questions, anyone? I'm too lazy to upload the nine or so credit images from my phone.
-
Both the movie and the dub were great. Rachael Messer got Hina down pretty well.
-
Notes to add to Skippy's:
-Mignola was good; Bosch is better yet. Best new voice in the film.
-Fujitora (Charlie Campbell; same as Ep of Sabo?) had more lines here than he did in the DR recap; this take is significantly less deep of a voice, and the character seems to speak quicker (I always though fujitora spoke a little slowly). The voice is fine, but I liked what we heard of him in the DR recap far more.
-The actor who replaces Blackbeard is definitely trying to emulate the former actor (RIP), but there's still a notable difference, and Cole Brown was far and away the best choice for that role.
-Hina sounded the same as I remember her, even though she was recasted. So good work to the new actress on that.
-Sengoku's line disappeared so fast that I barely even noticed it. Oh well. He sounded similar, I think, though no one has that signature whisp.
-Morgan's new voice was very fitting! He got a good handful of lines, and the voice had a good bit of range to it.
-I still can't get over how good Bart's voice is. When I first heard him in Episode of Sabo, it definitely wasn't what my ears were waiting for, but he's easily got the best "unexpected" take on a character in OP
-Most of the characters sound pretty similar. It was good to hear a ton of Smoker and Kid. Justin Cook has updated Kid's voice since Sabaody; it's noticeably different though still clearly coming from the same actor. I like the updated take more; it's deeper, even more gravelly. In terms of the movie itself: meh to good. The hype fest, seeing all the characters together and attacking was really great. But it rarely had the emotional pull, adventure, or humor of Strong World, my current favorite, or the villain and interesting writing of Film Z. Spoilers next.
! The entire back half of the film is everyone teaming up to fight a giant mecha, which is an anime trope that always puts me to sleep; worse: they of course joint attack it, then Luffy goes "bigger is better" and destroys the baddie. Not much innovation or clever plotting, despite the interesting scenario of pirate fest, buster call, and the secret treasure. I'd much rather have them fight bullet himself for all that time, rather than the mecha Bullet controls. My favorite part of the movie, in fact, is the eleven supernovas vs Bullet. Great animation there and really fun. Also, I couldn't help but tear up with the quick Ace bit at the end. Rough.
Going to see it again Wednesday! Was tempted to catch another showing today.

Saw the movie earlier today, and had a great time. I was happy to see the theater had quite a few people in it, especially since only five seats had been reserved when I bought my ticket earlier this week. Rager was great as blackbeard, sounded enough like Cole Brown and different enough from Rager's Arlong. I thought Sengoku's new VA was good, for the short amount he spoke, sounded a bit different from Blaylock though. Sabo's new voice is great, better in my opionion, but I didn't have much of an attachment to the old one.
! The film's main appeal is the amount of secondary One Piece characters that not only appear, but also have a meaningful role in the film. Take that away and it's a pretty meh film in my opinion.

I thought she sounded a bit different, but it's been a few years since I've heard it. I didn't realise she had been recasted until now though, I like the new voice.
I don't know if it was poor audio mixing on Funimation's part or the sound system at the theater I went to, but I had trouble hearing a lot of the dialog over the film's music. Was this the case for anyone else?
-
glad you guys seemed to enjoy it, waiting for the blu-ray myself.
-
Good to hear that Johnny's verison of Sabo is great. I also have to wait for the bluray release as well.

Yes and no. I heard the voices mostly fine, but the music was definitely overwhelming. I personally thought the score was the weakest part of the film; very repetitive and not always fitting. Felt like they were moving through “One Piece’s greatest music hits,” revamping them and shoving them in where they didn’t always fit. The score didn’t seem made for this movie; it seemed made to celebrate OP.
Stampede’s first day in theaters (subtitled) earned it 400k.
-
Watched Stampede but the theater played the subbed version rather than the dubbed, despite having purchased a ticket for the dub. Was planning to watch it subbed this coming week but I guess I’ll try again on Wednesday at a different theater for the dub. Saw some of the One Piece Podcast members. Couldn’t talk to them to ask about Anime NYC but they said that what happened with the dubbed has been happening in a lot of theaters. Hopefully Wednesday will work out.
-
I would’ve asked for a refund. Blackbeard’s Zehahah was so good, I thought this was happening to me for the first ten seconds of the movie.
-
I did. Gave me a movie ticket to any AMC theater. Glad to hear that. Really enjoyed the movie and with all the praise I’ve seen for Chris Rager and JYB I’m real excited.

Wow!! Sweet! Unless he was able to dub his lines in New York, that's some dedication for him to fly out to Texas for this.
Unless…FUNi's scripting has gotten so far that they already have the scripts ready for Urouge's next appearance in the anime, and called him out to dub a whole bunch of lines at once…..
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
OH! Found this article:
http://www.playbill.com/article/major-attaway-returns-as-the-genie-in-broadways-aladdin-september-23
So, Major's run as the Genie on Broadway ended back in February, and he went back to video game and TV acting for a bit. But he's returning to play the Genie again, and he began this new run on September 23.
So it's likely he dubbed his lines for Urouge before returning to New York.
Oh, wow! Jonathan Freeman, the voice of Jafar in basically every animated version of Aladdin ever made, is playing Jafar live in the Broadway adaptation! I wonder if this has ever happened before.
-
In the behind the scenes feature, Colleen mentions how they had to find ways to get actors to record one or two lines long distance. Urouge’s actor definitely didn’t need to fly to Texas to get the line recorded; he probably just went to a recording booth in NY and sent the files over.

Saw the dub in theaters and it was fantastic! Went with a couple friends, two who are caught up with the manga, and two who are at the end of Enies Lobby and middle of Enies Lobby. It was really Super OnePiece Smash Bros the movie, but it was fun. JYB as Sabo is PERFECT, 10000% better voice fit than Vic. Rager does a solid Blackbeard, especially the laugh, felt like a close match to Cole Brown. Sengoku is only on screen for a second, but the voice fits, though way less iconic of course. Morgan's dub voice fits but nothing spectacular. Bartolomeo's actor continues to steal the show, he is hilarious, and the two friends who hadn't reached Dressrosa yet were asking a lot about him in interest. Daman Mills is also fantastic as Bullet, the low voice is crazy. Matt Mercer's Law is also spot on, and the rest of the Supernova all sound great coming back. Jonathan Brook's Foxy again is hilarious for his one or two lines. Finally, interesting Funimation is going with Laugh Tale instead of Raftel. Outside of the Dub performances, solid movie, nothing amazing plot-wise, but that was never the point of this movie. Lots of great fights and animation, CGI was good at times, meh at others. And Usopp is MVP

Agreed! Seems like most everyone is on the same page with this movie, dub-voices-wise. I really hated the trashy purple CGI, though, honestly. And the giant mecha form looked simple and dumb to me. Daman Mills did a fine job; nothing special, imo. But I'm also holding him up against other film villains like Shiki and Zed.

New dub clip:
[
O](
)ne big thing about this movie that no one has mentioned: This is our first time seeing all of these characters in the new art style. It definitely felt a little weird to me, but very exciting and definitely for the better.
-
I didnt know Mr 3 joined Buggy…weird.
-
Is Chiffon in the movie? I swore I briefly saw her in a clip on Bege's ship.

She doesn’t get any lines, and I don’t remember seeing her, but there’s a good likelihood she’s in a shot or two.

Ah, okay. Was wondering if they were going to use Lola's actress, or cast someone new for her.
-
@Elektrik:
interesting Funimation is going with Laugh Tale instead of Raftel.
I wonder if they'll start to use that in anime proper, or continue using Raftel; it may be something they chose specifically for the movie since it was spelled out as Laugh Tale. Does anyone know if Laugh Tale is an Oda thing or just a Toei thing? I'm inclined to think it's an Oda thing, since it seems a bit too much of a transliteration for Toei alone.
I really hated the trashy purple CGI, though, honestly. And the giant mecha form looked simple and dumb to me.
Agreed, I dislike conspicuous CGI in 2D animation in general.
-
The night of the dubbed showing, Saturday, made only a bit less than the premiere dubbed night. It made 320K that night, totaling at over 700K. Let’s work to hit a million, folks. Go see the dub again on Wednesday!

Here's hoping that the movie gets additional screenings!

Here's hoping that the movie gets additional screenings!
With Promare, it started as some sort of limited event. I didn't want to spend the money on it so I skipped it. Then, it came back into theater for multiple weeks as a normal film release, so I was able to use my Regal Unlimited. I'm hoping the same happens for Stampede, though unlikely. Then, I'd be able to see it as many times as I want for free on unlimited. Promare, of course, was released by GKIDS, which so far as I know uses a different distributor from funimation, so the situation is unlikely to replicate. But we can dream!

Thank skippy for compiling Dressrosa character dub clips. Good to have; easy to refer back to.

Seeing it again tonight! Can’t wait!

Same I'm watching the dub again.
I wish we would get reporting on its box office performance yesterday. It seems that box office mojo doesn't track small releases from small studios like this

Not true; that's where I grabbed the figures above.

Yeah I know, but for some reason we didn‘t get a report on yesterday performance. They are tracking movies making $6000, and I would argue that stampede made at least $100k yesterday.

Maybe it isn’t updated yet? Weird. I know some days have had really bad showtimes. One of the days it only made 5k, or so BOM says. Weird that it would track the opening days well and not the others.

It takes a while for Box Office Mojo to update the dailies for limited theatrical films, likely due to the distributor not reporting numbers just yet. It happened this past weekend so we didn't get official numbers til Monday so it'll update.
-
The Numbers doesn't even have the domestic earnings updated yet.

Oh that would make sense. Fingers crossed for $1million domestic gross

At the theater now, seeing Stampede in about 40 mins!!!
Pretty excited! Also really keen to hear the new voices.

Has Funimation announced when are the new eps coming?
