Rewatched the episode to better articulate myself. I’d argue that nearly every shot that isn’t a close-up, especially in the back half of the episode, has wonky proportions or off-model characters.
Something I didn’t realize as much until this viewing is that a large turn off for me this week was actually the Storyboarding—where many characters had awkward angles where parts of their heads were cut off. And a somewhat frequent offender: far too many close-ups. Composition is to a degree a matter of tastes, so so be it if it isn’t fair ground to argue that this episode had poor composition, but that’s my stance.
I’ll say the second viewing wasn’t as bad as I remember it being, so the overstatement is my fault; only the second half of the episode is as bad as I remember art-wise. The first half just has terrible Storyboarding for much of it.

@MythicalDragon:
I mean, the shots that mattered looked how they should. There weren't any noticeable anatomical errors, disproportionate body parts or anything of this kind.
Not being fond of a certain art style (which I assume in your case is Deguchi's) is something different and a fair point.
I’ve also noticed that the episodes often feel like two distinct halves. Is there a reason for this? Do they assign two storyboard artists per episode or two lead artists, one for each half? Is it just in my head, or is there a reason that very often I’m seeing different quality products in first halves versus second halves?
