Got my best friend a Switch for Christmas, so an eShop sale is just what I was looking for right about now.

Disegaea seems like fun, like 100+ hours of it. hard pass.
Pokken is boring, pass
Captain toad seemed cute and entertaining. Wishlist.
Arms and the drumbs one can't enjoy right now, my shoulder hurts, seemed good for what I could try. Try again later.
Katamari: fuck early 2000s cameras and them preventing me of playing some great games. Some dizziness started while playing the demo. Sad pass.
Octopath tho, everyone says is good, even if the stories don't connect, and it's a 40% off.
But then there is Capcom tempting me with games I already beat like okami and the mega Man collections. Or supergiant doing the same thing but with Hades sweetening the deal.
But what I should do is. Study.

In my break from Smash, I've actually been playing a lot of Civilization 6, but on the PC.
I've heard they're releasing it on the Switch as well but I don't know how well that would control. -
@Bond:
In my break from Smash, I've actually been playing a lot of Civilization 6, but on the PC.
I've heard they're releasing it on the Switch as well but I don't know how well that would control.I actually just finished a 20 hour game on it. It's Civ 6 on the Switch. Some thigs have been downgraded as expected but honestly it was a real fun experience. The one more turn is even more perilous as you can just leave it in sleep mode and play that one more turn.

Oh, I never even considered the sleep mode thing. A portable Civ 6 in theory should make it easier for you to distribute and control your play time.
It's great fun isn't it? I'm not good enough to manage anything higher than level 3 difficulty but it's so hard to stop playing.I won't be getting it for the Switch though. I'm considering buying Katamari Reroll instead. I've got lots of fond Katamari memories and it looks really nice and crisp.

Got octopath
Got everyone, no one interacts with eachother.
Got the 8 job shrines.
Abused escape and low encounter skills to get to every town. The last jobs are in dungeons so for sure there is a boss at the end, so no point doing a death run in them.
Randomly completed missions, like this old dude in the northern most town, he got ties to some info I got in one of the first towns. And a lady in one of the sea towns wanted the exotic fruit I ”adquired" back in Therese's town. Also "acquiring" things should have negative consequences beyond negative risks, I've been robbing everyone blind, and everyone is ok.
-
There are some items you can only buy and some you can only steal. Enjoy yourself with the last 4 jobs :). And be sure to find out what you need to unlock the secret final dungeon in the game and good luck!
-
Yah, Ophilia is a master cleric, kinda regret picking her as the main character, I didn't know I'd be locked to the chosen one, I'd pick Therion for the abundance of locked chests down the road, of the 4 chapter 2 that I've completed, all of them had locked chests.
Halfway through chapter 2s and levels 20s, have seen some of the party talk, but it still feels like the party is an alucination, as how nonexistent they are when not in their chapters. Like I'd want to see Linde do stuff, as a partially domesticated white leopard does, but I'd guess she is only relevant on H'aanit's chapter.
Like the meat of an rpg is seeing the party grow by bouncing out of eachother, here there are 8 paralel stories that while do a propper job of developing the world, still feel very disconected from eachother.
These little scenes that show up in the middle of thing feel like "oh yeah, we forgot to connect them at this point".
If they wanted to tell 8 paralell stories, I feel like making them trully disconected, like what they did in Live a Live back in the 90's, and go from that might work better. Maybe start with 3 or 4 characters instead of going full OCTO on us. At least I hope this doesn't develop bravely default syndrome at the end.
-
I soft dropped the game at some point after getting everyone (did a few 2nd chapters before getting the whole team. Felt like doing what on my way first was more "organic" than going after everyone first).
The lack of interaction really turned me off big time. Also it's very easy to get seriously overleveled, at least at this point. Chose Tressa as my main and don't regret it, she is the only one that feels "main" character to me and she is everything I wish Carrot was (actually, in my headcanon Tressa sounds like a mix of Kimmy Schmidt/Mako Mankanshoku).
I will probably get back to it someday… but Smash, Zelda, I didn't even started Persona 5... and I always have this urge to drop everything and go back to Hollow Knight to do whatever there... OT is just being pushed away.
-
Like there is this part where you have to convince a wagon conductor to let you go, the conductor rejects your seduction, as he's stated to be the one man who takes his job seriously, so you have to bribe him with the barkeep or something, once you convince him he lets you go. At that point in time I got on as:
Primrose
A random dancer I seduced
H'aanit
Linde, a snow leopard
Who knows how many wild beast H'aanit had in her pokemon team, but it included a giant sheep, the mosspig, a giant salamander, at least 2 toadfolk, and an angry bird.
Alfyn
Ophilia
Zeph, Alfyn chilhood friend who he said bye to at the end of his recruitment, following ophilia. -
Yah, Ophilia is a master cleric, kinda regret picking her as the main character, I didn't know I'd be locked to the chosen one, I'd pick Therion for the abundance of locked chests down the road, of the 4 chapter 2 that I've completed, all of them had locked chests.
Let me tell you a word of advice from someone whose main was H'aanit. All eight travelers are balanced and unique enough to carry you on through the entrie playthrough. Sure, Therion gives you "free locked chests" and "stealing everything", but out of the eight travelers Ophilia owns some of the best support skills, and don't get me started on her divine skill, which if used wisely can trounce the early game bosses in just a few turns. Ophilia with the scholar job deals tons of damage. Also, you have a fixed healer with her in the party, so you don't have to worry about that.
-
Failed at the final boss. Dared to go sub-60 without the extra jobs. New run starts later.

Rumor: Direct for next week.
Please, give me a pikmin on switch, that plays like 1,2 or 3. I'll take remakes so I pile up more reasons to sell the Wii U, virtual console not wistanding.
I wish for Pikmin Trilogy or Pikmin 4.

Pikmin 1 & 3 are pretty good, but 2 is my fave in the series and probably even among the best games i ever played.
It may seem an exaggeration given what it looks like from the surface, but underneath it there is a whole world to explore (which also refers to the game itself with its underground dungeons ahaha). Because those levels have some of the most creative gameplay scenarios with a huge range of variety and even emotions they can invoke on the player. One in particular manages to be among the scariest a game ever got precisely because of how well it tied itself to the gameplay, rather than just some jumpscare moments, body horror or creepy character/story development and so on; but merely thanks to its gameplay.
Hard to say how much Nintendo even cares about those games and the series in general at this point, but if anyone out there still has not played them, its needless to say that i highly recommend the second one even without playing the other two.

So, the dates for Epic-er Yarn and crafted world were revealed, (march),the plot of Crafted World has a trailer, and new (I said new? I meant nes) games were anounced for the online server, notably Joy Mech Fight, so you can be Sukapon and punch Sukapon now.
This means that a direct isn't as near as I expected, as these data points would have neatly fit in that.

Joy Mech Fight is apparently only releasing in Japan. Because as Nintendo's oldest philosophy best puts it: "If it's not in Japan, who the fuck gives a shit."
So instead, we get just the other two games. Not even a replacement.
-
That is… dissapointing, to not say bullshit.
-
Just noticed the nes system series got updated…what are the special? Zelda has a special logo next to it
-
With the way Nintendo completely redefined both the Zelda franchise (Zelda breath of the wild) and Mario (Mario Odyssey) I wonder what they'll do for there other franchises, what can they do to reimagine Pokémon, Metroid, Star Fox, Fire Emblem etc.
-
The last Star Fox "alleged" reimagining we got was Star Fox Zero and that didn't turn out too well.
-
That was Miyamoto fighting for his game pad.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
There are dates for FF X/X-2, april 16, and XII, april 30.
Another direct worthy morsel given just like this. Odd.

Seven's release date hasn't been announced yet - those are 10/10-2 and 12, respectively.
I'd be surprised if 7 and 9 don't come out shortly after that, though, like some time in early May.

I'm kinda wishing 5 and 6 get the same treatment as the DS remakes of III and IV.

Just a reminder, the Wii shop closes permanently at the end of the month. So, if there's anything you want to get on it, or you have stockpiled points, now's the time to do it.
Most of the things worth getting you can still get on disk, or have been on other systems and compilations already, on the SNES classic or Steam, or will make their way to later storefronts like the Switch eventually, but… there may be a thing or two that doesn't come around again.

Am I the only one who wants a Zelda game where there is a foe so ridiculously strong that Link and Ganondorf have to unite? I mean they do it with Mario and Bowser sometimes….. well only in RPGs but still

Any interesting thing out of the nindies? Or the full list with a shor sumary of what it is? Only Wargroove and SteamWorld Quest, and Goat Simulator I'd guess, show up.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Aw, lame (but then again, I had thought they had already shut it down years ago, color me surprised!). I hate how there's so many titles that don't overlap between what was on the old Wii Shop Channel and on the Wii U eShop. A game like Zombies Ate My Neighbors would have benefited greatly from the Save Point feature of the Wii U and 3DS. Apart from that, though, only a Bonk game or two might have been on my list to get, but if I haven't already gotten it, probably not going to lose any sleep over it (come to think, I already did get Super Bonk). At least they did bring back the Donkey Kong Country games (and DK64). But nothing is quite as galling as the fact that the Switch eShop doesn't feature the same Virtual Console titles as the Wii U or 3DS.
Here's a question: If your credit card for whatever reason doesn't work for loading money on the various eShops, and there's no way the old Wii Shop point redemption cards are available, do eShop cards work for the Wii Shop Channel as well?
-

Surprisingly hard to find a summary, and I'm not watching the whole video. This is the best I found. Guess that shows how much everyone cares.
-
I found the list on siliconera, and the short gameplay snipets on the nintendo channel.
Not in the mood to write a review, but I liked Wargroove and the punk rock rythm runner thing, double kick heroes. Inmost and CrossCode have promise. Forager looks cute and I kinda need to protect those beets now. No interest on Goat Simulator (Sorry Wagomu), Not-Slay-The-Spire Steamworld game, and Unrully Heroes (that looks and feels like my master's game, if we got to polish it), and no fotage of the skylifts game.
-
As much as I like rhythm games I'm not into that music selection. As for Inmost, despite loving puzzle/adventure games (and platforming), the aesthetic means I'll pass. They're doing absolutely everything they can to showcase how dark and edgy and tragic it is. No thanks.
-

Awwwwww man I saw this and immediately thought a Nintendo Direct was coming out today…. need to double check what I read lol

developmental update on MP4 -
My old Hot Take that the Nintendo Switch is actually the Wii again–massively overhyped with very few games and too underpowered for staying power--sure seems to be doing ok. Like, what do we still have on the near horizon now that Metroid's off the table for a few years?
(speaking as a Switch owner who has enjoyed the few original games for the system he's played but largely been underwhelmed)
-
I guess Retro Studios wasn't available at the time because they were too busy on…whatever they were doing at the time, but at least Retro Studios is on the game now.
And who were originally working on Prime 4?
-
I repeat my impression, Better late Retro's Metroid Prime 4, than sooner Bandai Namco's Metroid Another M.
Rumors, or low key annoucements said that it was Bandai Namco who were developing it.
Scrapping a complete game sounds extremely drastic, how sub-par was it going to go and admit "restarting", instead of transfer, or re-focusing?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
This is a Pokemon gen 8, Fire emblem and Animal Crossing year, while silent on all of those dates, they are scheduled for this year, that is not a lean year.
Also, this forces their hand for trilogy remastered prime.
-

If three games is not a lean year, then…yee.
Guess we can throw Yoshi in there too?

Three games in a year is quite a big deal in my opinion if they turn out to be good.
Would there be a point in having 10 games and all them being like Fallout 76?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And most people will be playing Smash Ultimate all year anyway.
-
If it means Retro is on board again I'm willing to wait a little longer.
I guess Retro Studios wasn't available at the time because they were too busy on…whatever they were doing at the time, but at least Retro Studios is on the game now.
And who were originally working on Prime 4?
I think it was an internal Nintendo team.
-
I'm still hoping for Bayonetta 3 this year…
For the record I don't think the problem with the Wii was a lack of games but rather the fact that every single game shoehorned in gimmicky motion controls for no reason.
-
“Hearing that the big problem with MP4 development was Nintendo’s experimental ad-hoc development process; it was being made in parts in different countries. Some studios were trucking along saying it was going smoothly while it was on fire elsewhere.”
“Internal thinking was that it needs to be all under one roof to right the ship. Interestingly, Retro made the pitch for their involvement and put together a demo that Nintendo liked.”
Look like Retro approached first.
-
If three games is not a lean year, then…yee.
Guess we can throw Yoshi in there too?
Those are internally significant games for marketing push. Yoshi is march, Pokemon will probably be a Q4 marketing push, and you can fill in Q2 and Q3 with AC and Fire Emblem. I'd imagine an early summer release for AC and a late summer/early fall release for FE would be a logical way to structure things.
Of course, since this is the Switch this doesn't mean these are all the games we'll be getting, just the ones coming from Nintendo proper that we know of. There's a ton of smaller titles that get announced and released within a year, much like Super Mario Party was last year iirc, maybe Mario Tennis too? (can't remember when that was announced.) I imagine something like Luigi's Mansion 3 falls in place somewhere here, as a mario spinoff franchise that does decently well without reaching the numbers of Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/AC/Smash.
Then there's the third party stuff that we know of (Bayonetta 3, possibly; Crash Team Racing; Sonic w.e. bullshit they do this year) and all the third party stuff we also still don't know about. Some of it might even be Nintendo exclusive: I wouldn't be surprised to see something like what Mario + Rabbids and Starlink were for 2017 and 2018, respectively. (edit: I don't think starlink was exclusive, now I think of it, but the Fox thing probably was for sure.)
THEN you have the heavy push for DLC, particularly Smash where we have an entire year of [probably] structured releases, potentially also teasing further third person deals. I would be surprised if we don't see Persona content on Switch to draw from the Joker crossover. And of course, there's all the DLC we still don't know about… considering how much Smash is selling, I wouldn't be surprised if we got an Octo Expansion type situation take place, where they toss in even more content than initially planned like a mode, or a bunch of spirits or add extra echo fighters to their initial plan. You know, assuming they keep enslaving Sakurai to do it.
Toss in significant Indie negotiations that are turning the Switch into a better market for indies than steam is (then again, most things are and we have yet to see how Epic's service affects this), and we have more games on Switch than many people here will even have time to play.
Conclusion: no, I don't think this will be a lean year. Smash sold so many switches that I wouldn't be surprised if part of why they were fine delaying MP4 so much was because there's so much other content they can focus on to keep on driving software sales. Not to mention that MP4 itself is not as large scale of a property like AC or Pokemon are now, maybe even FE by this point. I imagine the only reason they even bothered sharing this with fans was to kill speculation and avoid fan backlash since MP after Federation Force became one of those cases of very passionate outcry for an actual game.
Which reminds me... we can always hope for Mother 3 :ninja:

Yoshi, Pikmin 4, Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 3, Shin Megami Tensei 5, Pokemon and Team Sonic Racing.
Honestly though… putting aside all the Wii U games, the Switch's first two years were pretty lean.
We're lucky Mario Odyssey came in the first year. -

Wouldn't that be better for someone was kinda iffy on the Switch?
