Movies that don't deserve their own thread

The trailer for The Mule looks great.
-
So the new Godzilla thrailer is out andas nitpicky as it sounds I think Godzilla moves to fast.
-
So what new TV shows are there to look forward to in 2019???
I know of
The Witcher
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Watchman
The Nevers (A new Joss Whedon project)anything else I'm missing???
-
I can't wait for the movie Drumpf. Gonna be great too. I wonder who could play the orange turd though
One of the SNL guys, of course.
-
Why the hell nobody told me about this?!
-
does anyone think they'll make a castelvania movie or a devil may cry movie?
I mean they are making animes for them
-
Castlevania has a solid spot on Netflix right now. Whether or not they'll make a movie is up to them, most likely.
-
Why the hell nobody told me about this?!
Looks like your average summer action movie. But, it could be fun. Wished they'd bring back the cartoon.
-
Why the hell nobody told me about this?!
First thought: holy shit, a Fergie song from 2006 is gonna get popular in the unlikeliest of ways
-
Uhhhh . . . . . because Step-Up has a pretty successful franchise?
-
Not gonna lie, I am a sucker for dance movies like the step up franchise. Stories, characters are all cheesy trash, but the dancing is so much fun. If it can be as those movies I am gonna have fun watching it at home. ;)

In my veins!
Looks fantastic. And didn‘t they confirm he goes to japan? Whch means all we pretty much saw were new york shots, so there is a ton still left to see.
Is the doctor operating on him the keymaker from the matrix? Would be a fun addition, since we already have Keanu and Lawrence. Also, it would have been awesome if instead of Halle Berry they had cast Carrie Anne Moss for the ultimate fanservice. xD
P.S. I saw it in a yt comment so not sure if true, but apparently Iko Uwais and and the guy who played mad dog from the raid series are also in the movie.
-
Dance movies are fun (hello, Singing in the Rain), but they're not movies you go to the theater for. They're Netflix movies.
-
Uhhhh . . . . . because Step-Up has a pretty successful franchise?
Yes hard as is to believe these movies did make profit…...somehow.
Which means if the Mario movies are successful expect them to ape on the success of the F&F movies with Mario Kart spinoffs :ninja:
-
John Wick 3 coming out seems sooner than I was expecting but maybe it just seems that way because I just stopped thinking about it for so long. Looks cool though. you can see the Japanese stuff in the trailer with the people riding bikes and brandishing katanas. Wonder if this'll be the last one or if it'll be open for another sequel. Seems like it'd be hard to top the entire assassination guild coming after you.
-
I think it could be the last and then there is the starz series coming, which might be some prequel story who knows.
-
Am I the only one excited for the Revamp of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? (no pun intended lol) Or Joss Whedon's other new Project the Nevers?
-
What even is this?
-
I didn't see a thread for Shyamalan movies in general or the Unbreakable trilogy but I thought I'd express my admiration for his latest, Glass. I know it got bad reviews from critics but I enjoyed it quite a bit and was very satisfied with the conclusion.
-
I'd propose to change this thread name to either "Other upcoming movies" "movies that have you excited" "or "non gigantic franchise movies"
-

I have the exact opposite opinion. While I liked some of the stuff in the movie (mainly in the second act between Mr. Glass and the Beast), the ending felt forced and hokey. Like Shyamalan was just throwing mainstream superhero tropes mainstream audiences would recognize on the wall without actually making it meaningful. Like it's trying to be meta in an on the nose way that will totally be dated in a few years and isn't saying anything other than "hey, this is a thing in movies now! You recognize this thing, right? Isn't it so cool we're talking about how this exists?"
I feel like Unbreakable and Split were memorable grounded psychological analyses that only used the superhero elements as an accessory to present how we as humans struggle with wanting to believe we can transcend our mundane lives to feel like we're special, desperately trying to find meaning to maintain a sense of purpose than accepting that maybe you're unlucky and that's that. The superhero trope references are mainly narrative devices for the characters to believe in fate/transcendence over coincidences/delusions. But Glass goes balls to the wall with throwing comic book trope references left and right trying to sound deep despite only chucking cheap fanservice that sounds like the previous two films but is missing the heart and intent they were going for.
I don't know if all of that makes sense, but basically Unbreakable and Split's themes are about humanity's innate desire to feel special like a superhero/supervillain to rationalize our life struggles. Like if all our pain isn't just awful luck, it might mean it's your tragic origin story making you destined for greatness. And both the amazing and unfortunate consequences if you aren't insane and actually special through fate or surpassing human capabilities by repressing your humanity.
Glass tries to pose as a superhero trope deconstruction but only namedrops superhero tropes and twists for the sake of crowdpleasing geeks. I was severely disappointed with it. I don't mind going into more detail in spoilers, but it felt so hollow to me. Like Shyamalan was trying to reuse the formula but forgot why he made it in the first place and cashing in on superhero movie culture hype.

I found it enjoyable and entertaining, but I can see your perspective being valid.

Went to see the movie Greta in the theater (only because I got a AMC's a list so I might as well go see a movie since I'm paying monthly for that)
and the trailer for Jordan Peele's movie us played
I'm officially terrified of the song "I've got five on it"
seriously I can't get it out of my head
-
-
Two things…... Us has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes!!
And I have a question how would you rank The Lord of the Rings movies (the original trilogy not the hobbit movies)
-
1. Two Towers
2. Return of the King
3. FellowshipOf course that's not the actual order, the real order is Fellowship, Two Towers, and Return of the King.
-
Lol you were right with the first list, I was asking for which ones you thought were the best, not there chronological order
-
Two things…... Us has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes!!
A ton of movies get perfect 100 ratings when they are only available at festivals and have a limited amount of reviews, so it will go down. But I am confident it will be a good movie.

I know it won't stay that way but a 100% with 39 reviews is still worth mentioning
I bet in the end it will probs be high 90's
-
I'm just glad that it looks like get out wasn't a fluke.
-
Us looks like a perfect movie to be featured at Simpson's Treehouse of Horror.
Are they still doing that?
-
Holy crap just saw us!!!
! Two huge twists!!!!! that's all I'm gonna say, you do not want this spoiled! go watch the damn movie
-
I just saw Us tonight. I really liked it. The soundtrack was excellent.
Actual spoilers:
! The music playing with the first shot of the bunnies was at least interesting enough for me to keep somewhat interested but I think it went on too long. All the actors did an amazing job on their Shadows. Some humorous, some flat out creepy. Was not expecting the voices.
! The ballet sequence was so cool. Especially paired with the I Got 5 On It creepy mix. I totally called the beginning. That she got swapped early on.Oh and randomly my friends and I saw Sterling K Brown at the theater we went to.
-
What the hell?!
-
I want to like this trailer, but the story looks average at best. One of those It's a Kids Movie So We Don't Have To Try plots and dialogue. Looks like the actors are at least trying to work with what they got.
-
I liked her in outlander so I'm hoping she'll be just as great in the nevers
-
Just saw The Notebook for the first time
! It was a cute movie. That's about it. The main problem with it I think is that we never really got a sense of who Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams' characters were as people. It's like the writer(s) just expected us to care because they were young attractive people who acted happy and giddy around each other. The production and acting are all very good, but the script didn't do much to get me invested.
! And I don't really get why people say this is a super sad bawl-your-eyes-out movie. I mean, yeah, the dementia angle is sad, but they still ended up together and it ends on a hopeful triumphant. And I've cried at movies before, but yeah, this didn't really do it for me. -
How did I miss hearing about this?!
Seriously, this looks like the most fun zombie spoof since Shaun of the Dead.
-
Bill Murray and Buscemi? I think I'm aboard on this.
-
else plans on seeing Hobbs and Shaw when it comes out?
-
Why does this needs a sequel?
-
-
They split the book into two movies.
The first one was about the children. The second one is about them dealing with IT as an Adult.
You must have not read the novel or seen the original film.
-
John Wick 3 is at a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes with 58 reviews, get pumped
-
John Wick 3 was pretty great. It felt more lore heavy (surrounding the assassin organization) than the previous two but had nice action like is expected.
! The fight with the bald sushi guy's apprentices went on too long imo but that was the only fight I felt that way about. I also was really worried the movie was going to end when the SWAT-like people were storming the hotel but I'm glad it went on after that. I thought this movie was going to be the last of the series but I guess not. I wonder at this point what the next movie will be about since it seemed like Wick and Fishburne's character are going to basically go up against the entire organization somehow.
-
Official trailer for the new Tarantino movie dropped yesterday.
Looks good. Nice that he's taking a break from revenge/historical films (unless you consider the 1960s historical).
-
snort "Fried sauerkraut" . . .
And yes, I think the 60s is now officially old enough to be considered historical. Especially when you consider that this movie is dealing with real people from the 60s, including ick the Manson Family.
-
I heard the movie was going to be about the Manson murders. I don't know if that was wrong (and that'll only be a part of it) or if the trailer is just a bit misleading. In any case I'm not that excited about the movie and I might not bother watching it in theatres.
Edit: The red band trailer made the movie look a lot more interesting. It also had Manson in it.
-
I saw brightburn, I actually really liked it, but damn I did not see the ending twist coming
! they basically set up an evil justice league, kind of, some blogger talks about how there's more out there like him and mentions a scary half fish man and a woman with rope, so basically aquaman and Wonder Woman, interesting concept at least…. kind of reminds me of Dark Metal
