Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Huh. I wonder why.
-
I'm glad to hear about 3D2Y. I wonder if this was dubbed recently, as something to hold the fans over during the supposed rights negotiations.
If not, wonder who's replacing Ed Blaylock as Sengoku and Juli Erickson as Tsuru.
I doubt Juli Erickson would be replaced, FUNimation tends to go out of their way to avoid recasting roles when possible, especially with One Piece. She was recast in MHA, because she moved away from Dallas and MHA is simuldubbed. It would've been difficult to keep her in the role.
Huh. I wonder why.
From what I read, it seems the agreement was a two-year contract and the decision to not renew was made by Sony, who aquired FUNimation about a year ago, and their ambition to make FUNimation a global dub and sub company. Thinking about it, One Piece dub releases kind of slowed down after the Sony acquisition, I wonder if that's a coincidence or not.
-
I remember liking some of the pre-timeskip specials, too. Here's to wishing they'd go back and make a combo pack of all those.

if they go back on anything, I'd rather they just spend their time dubbing all the movies before the Alabasta one.
Or at least release subtitle DVD's, I think that's what another company does for Lupin the 3rd. There is a audience that would buy these movies just to own them, some of us don't even need them dubbed if it will cost too much.

3D2Y is a fun romp.

I would prefer them to dub the movies first, too. But I’m not too picky. I’ll be happy with anything. Both the old movies and the old specials are fun. Movie six is my only priority.
-
So 3D2Y doesn’t have any new voices or anything to look forward to, right?
-
Potentially, hearing the replacement voice for Sengoku and/or Tsuru.
-
Another ten days…
-
What is in ten days?
-
February solicitations.
-
Yep would be awesome to have back to back months of One Piece related releases
-
Seems appropriate, given the long wait and how one is a movie and shouldn’t conflict with episode sales.
-
Got an e-mail from FUNi announcing January releases, and One Piece 3D2Y was front and center in the advert.
-
In a new e-mail today, they announced the release of Collection 23, as well as a bundle deal for all of the Collections released up till now. 1-11 together for roughly $133, and 12-23 together for a little over $200.
No special packaging or anything. Just all of the Collections shipped together for a massive discount.
-
The latter bundle is for $220, which means about $18 per collection. Since I’m double dipping with the collections, I’m going to wait for them to go to $15 each.
Glad they’re publicizing it. Hopefully they announce the next set of new episodes tomorrow or Friday.
-
If we get nothing for February, then I have no clue as to what is happening.
-
Is it likely at all to come out on a Thursday? The solicits.
-
They're out, no One Piece in February. Very few new releases in general. I am baffled by the shows Funi gives LEs to these days.
-
We’re coming up on a year-long unexplained hiatus. I’m fuming.
-
I don't know what to say. 9 months since the last batch of episodes, and counting.
-
Next month forsureee
-
Well, we're getting 3D2Y. That's new. Can we still call it a hiatus?

More like some scraps to keep us tamed ,because im sure they been sitting on that release for a while
-
If it helps soothe the pain, One Piece Film Gold's Latin American dub is based on the Funimation one and it seems like we will also be getting the new film in 2020.
-
Damn. Another month. Watching One Piece Dub has become like reading Berserk
-
Oh gosh! Super worried! FUNimation just created a twitter account for One Piece. Oh noes.
-
You could at least post it:

There’s a difference between worry and annoyance.

J-Sack is being sarcastic.
This official Twitter can only mean good news to come very soon. -
THAT WAS EPIC! Dubbed One Piece is soooooo good when Mike does it!
-
I forgot how good the art style of 3D2Y was.
-
Fun trailer, but this special doesn't look as good as Heart of Gold. People like it more?
Still mad about no Punk Hazard. This wait is ridiculous. The only thing that would make it okay at this point is Bluray rights.

Oh man, I'd take back everything bad thing I said if they started releasing blu rays.
-

Stop the sarcasm. It's been 3/4 a year since anything new dropped and Funi hasn't even made an attempt to give some information on the matter. People have the right to complain at this point.
That said, that Twitter account is something I suppose.
-
I don' think the Twitter means anything except that the series isn't cancelled. It doesn't mean announcements coming soon.
-
I don't think that's the case. Dragon Ball Super is the only other Twitter account Funi has created for an anime they own the license for.
That account is mostly used to promote the Broly film.
We know a new One Piece movie is coming next summer. Funi might be getting ready for an eventual announcment. -

It makes sense they are launching a twitter account now.
-
I'm getting a feeling they starting to get back to dubbing One Piece. Since both Colleen and Mike should be done with My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan for now.
-
All that means is that they stilllllllll aren’t doing it.
-
Wonder what is taking Funi so long to license Dressrosa. I would say just split it into 2 seasons. This is the main reason why they are delaying Punk Hazard.
-
Can someone post the link to the One Piece twitter

Any great sales on the collections this year?
-
Z appears in the filler. Think they had a hard time getting his voice actor back for his one or two lines?
-
I don't think so. Jeremy Schwartz voiced Oars Jr. And that wasn't too long ago.
-
In general, it looks like Jeremy Schwartz has done plenty of voice work for Funimation; it doesn't seem like he would be someone they'd have a hard time getting back
-
They got Scott McNeil to voice Shiki in his dub filler appearance. Of course, it's possible FUNi recorded both at the same time.
