Thank You guys,You've convinced me, I'm gonna start reading this series soon….. but I'm also trying to catch up on Kingdom, Hunter X Hunter, and Black Clover so it'll take a little while lol
Dr. Stone
-
-
I'd put this above all of the above, except Hunter x Hunter before the word "continent" is spoken a top of a giant tree.
-
Hope never see a Stone volume at a store… i will work like crazy at my job to earn enough to buy it.
The smooth narrative and the topics taught at the most simple way, i don't get how this can be this good. -

Good Luck!
And a quick note, Dr.Stone is one of those series that can have a slow start. It's still interesting, but it wasn't until around chapters 13-20 it went from "I'll check it out if I have time" to "I need to read this as soon as it comes out".

That was my reaction to One Piece around Arlong Park. Which was a while longer than chapters 13-20. Which is a good omen for Dr. Stone, I'd say  I was a bit worried when the "War arc" supposedly began. I thought the tone of the series would shift a bit into more generic shonen fighting stuff, but we're back to the big ass step-by-step plan to create something modern, that makes me really pleased and excited for this next arc. I hope they get to explore new areas, like when they went to get the sulfuric acid. I want to feel like they're on an RPG quest! God, I miss playing RPGs, now that I think about it.

Lol I'm on that arc right now, is it really that bad??? and if so why? or should I just keep reading?

Thanks man appreciate it!
I always stick to a manga for a good amount of time just because I've seen time and time again how something can start off real slow and tedious and become so good later
on the other hand there's plenty of series I know that start off great and that turn into just crap by the end (coughNarutocoughBleachcough)
-

Depends.
The thing is, HunterXHunter is riddled with hiatuses so it's kinda slow right now.You could end your reading after Gon meets Ging, like the anime does, and get a kind of closure, or you can keep reading knowing it will stop while it's in the first part of an arc.
And whenever HXH starts a new arc, you get introduced to tons of new characters and their weird plans that are only resolved later down the line so it can be boring to some. -
Hell yeah, Chrome! Git'r done!
Chrome's easily my favorite character and it's nice to see him building off the knowledge Senku shares.
-
mmm, these chapters are the good stuff.
-
decided to give this series a try and binge read the whole thing
it's good, but in the way shokugeki no souma can be good, the characters are kind of generic (but fun) but this manga shines when the science stuff get involved much like souma gets good when you actually see real cooking involved.
-
Kind of nuts that this pre-agrarian community now has a hydroelectric power plant.
Sets us up for conceptually anachronistic weirdness, like hunting deer with shock-wire traps. Reminds me a little of Horizon Zero Dawn.Working lightbulbs will probably be an early beneficiary of the electric grid, since they're a step on Roadmap II. Batteries are also going to be huge.
-
What are they going to do with the spy? Public illumination is not something that would go unnoticed by Tsukasa and his goons.
-
Giving the village more time until past the winter is one thing but leaving Senku's friends unchecked because they may believe that he is still dead is stretching things a bit.
-
The water wheel was a top notch idea by chrome

God, I love this manga.
-
they sure are going fast
this manga is basically a civilization game in manga form.
-
What a satisfying chapter. "Machine power" lol
-
At this rate they'll probably surpass modern technology and move to space within a year.
-
Lightbulbs obtained. Cave exploration incoming. God, I love Chrome. Best character in the series for me. Baaaad. A shame that Kohaku has kind of faded into the background lately.

The English language sure has weird names for chemical elements
-
Not sure if it's the best idea to bring that guy along.

Reading the last two chapters with Senku mentioning Christmas and New Years, I'm surprised Senku hasn't made a calendar yet. Unless he has and I've completely forgotten it lol

He hasn't, but we, the readers, are privy to a fair bit of info:
-Petrification takes place in 2017 (year Dr. Stone started + Trump is president = fair assumption). Maybe in spring? No snow + full camphor tree?
-Taiju breaks out and meets Senku on October 5th, 5738
-Yuzuriha freed -> Tsukasa kerfuffle -> trip to village is all in spring of 5739
-Antibiotics finished in fall of 5739
-light show for Christmas 5739
-now it's New Year's Day, 5740 -

@Long:
How long was senkku free before taiju?
Approximately six months, since he says it took him a year (after breaking out, himself) to perfect the revival formula, which happens the following spring.
Also we know he broke out in spring since he planned it that way (best chance for survival). -

I was talking more about for the characters being able to set dates and handle deadlines better. I think it could be helpful to their plans.
-
P-people? Ain't no people involved.
This is how I spend my free time. You'd think Byakuya would've passed down basic calendar info, so it is a little weird that nobody in the village has even used the word "month" yet.
Also, Senku's new birthday (when he turns 1 year older, biologically) is now November 3rd, because he's 17y59d old (that's accounting for leap years) on January 1st.
-
Heyyyyy, I don't think it's fair not to count his time in petrificatuon as part of his age! No need for a new birthday, Senku would argue that it's still all about counting how many times he's orbited the Sun.
-
Was just reading the latest chapter using the Viz app on my phone, and because the screen was small and I sometimes don't zoom in, I initially read this part very wrong…

Ahahaha. I read it that way too at first.
-
Geeeeeeeeeeeen!
-
He's going to tell the whole story while Senku is outside, that smug snake.

That's what you get when you don't take proper care of the lettering.

Its called kerning. It also happened in One Piece in 851. Whilst sanji was flicking his lighter, it looked like it was saying fuck

I'm aware, that's part of my job, actually. But when I use technical terms I tend to get confused looks in return so I just went for the more common and broad "lettering" since it's a comic book.
But I'm glad to see I'm not the only one around here that knows about the stuff.
-
! Magma folded surprisingly fast.
-
I'm honestly really surprised at how emotional that chapter was. Didn't feel contrived for me, was actually quite genuinely heartfelt.
-
I'm here all day for lampshading the Shonen Power of Friendship even it's totally still a key component of this series.
-
Closed the chapter there, didn't know it was last page. It finally felt as if series is going to go in more interesting direction there, but no, back to science cockgrowing contests.
-
That cover feels so wrong.
https://jaiminisbox.com/reader/read/dr-stone/en/0/57/page/1 -
Why? Don't you find bikini cheerleader contortionist bug alien ladies sexy?
-
Don't forget the high heels, that are different from the regular high heels that the tribe uses, but modern heels.
-
That cover is all sorts of wonky lol.
-
It's been, what, a few thousand years since Senku was petrified? Clearly humans have evolved to no longer need the use of their spines.
-
Don't forget the high heels, that are different from the regular high heels that the tribe uses, but modern heels.
To be fair they are also wearing modern day swimsuits and have Pom poms

Huh, I didn't really notice the pom pom's before, but who actually brings pom poms to the beach? Are they gonna like… cheer on Poseidon or something?
Though I'm not sure how the one in that red suit is gonna do it with that dislocated shoulder of hers.

Maybe they are cheering Senku to help him complete his scientific eruption.
Meh, not important.
I enjoyed the representation of the metals with different avatars. Anyone else noticed that the Tungsten Dino's scales spell Tungsten? -
It's just where that bottle is located.
