Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 7 - Wano)

i think the best way to confirm whom gonna be new crewmate of Straw Hat is by reflect to BB Pirates crews. By including Jinbei as Straw Hat crew and understanding that BB Pirates got 10 titanic captains, so here we go:
1. Luffy vs Teach (Captain fight)
2. Zoro vs Shilliew (Swordsman fight)

Agreed

3. Sanji vs San Juan Wolf? (based on Sanji finishing Wadatsumi)

Or…Sanji vs. Vasco Shot; Food vs. Drink. Also, Sanji didn't finish him, he tag-teamed him with Jimbei. If he took him on alone, that would be one thing, but it didn't work out that way. Too bad; it would have been cool to see at least one more New Fishman Pirate for Sanji to take on alone and Jimbei to take on alone.

4. Jinbei vs Burgess? (Randomly pick)

I'd have said 'cause they're both Helmsmen, and since their body types seem to be opposite (Jimbei's trunk is thicker, Burgess' upper body is his main mass).

5. Franky vs Vasco Shot? (Cola vs Alcohol)

Clever, though I'd think Sanji would match up with an ugly creep like Vasco Shot better. Maybe finish the fight with his handsome-making kick he used on Duval.

And Franky vs. San Juan Wolf just makes more sense with one being a shipwright, and the other being a surrogate ship for the other crew. Plus the Shogun is a giant mecha, so if he makes another big droid to fight with, it might be enough to compete with the uber-giant.

6. Brook vs Lafitte? (Stealth)

I'm not sure if Lafitte uses a sword-cane like Brook so that's a tough call. I know Nami uses a staff, and with Zeus in her corner she'll be able to fly like the winged Lafitte, so I thought they'd be better matched. Plus Lafitte reminds me a bit of a siren and they're known for drawing ships off-course to their dooms, and Nami's the navigator who's supposed to keep things on track. Plus with her illusions she can fool others as well. And lastly, they're both Navigators and most of the match-ups that are generally agreed upon are based on what role in the crews they play.

7. Robin vs Avalo Pizarro? (Randomly pick)

Eh, sure, why not. Robin's home being annihilated was done on orders from royalty, so why not oppose someone with a royal epithet?

8. Chopper vs Doc Q (Doctors fight)
9. Usopp vs Van Augur (Snipers fight)

Agreed.

10. Nami vs Catarina Devon? (Ladies fight)

Dunno, I get the whole 'weather witch/witch hunter' thing but if Brook fought her (and we know he's got no issues tangling with the ladies) then we'd get another hilarious scene where he can say he saw her panties while delivering a supersonic strike.

Since the last member seems to be Aokiji (no idea what he's doing running around with them…) maybe him vs. Robin? Since they have a past together. So possibly someone else will fight Pizarro, although maybe Brook the Soul King will fight Avalo Pizarro the Corrupt King...

Vascot shot seems to be really huge and fat, just like jimbe. Burgess seems smaller then jimbe. Shilliew, burgess, blackbeard as the more normal sized humans I think will go to monster trio luffy, zolol, sanji.

I see no difference between wadatsumi and san juan wolf. He is not even twice his size, so it's wadatsumi 2.0 if jimbe gets him.

Jinbe vs San Juan Wolf makes more sense. Colossal Battleship vs Knight of the Sea. It'll be a sea battle. I really doubt we'd ever get to see SJW standing up on land unobstructed.

The thing that any San Juan Wolf matchup ignores is that he's big. Like really big.

He's the biggest person we have seen, even Pika who got Dresrosa castle sized got to be smaller than Marineford, and SWJ was at the very least as big as marineford.

Honestly I've been curious if San Juan Wolf is actually part of BB's 10 Titanic Captains and not some special asset. I feel like giving someone as colossal as him a DF would be a huge liability when traversing water.

Considering sanji is the most versatile fighter in the crew, he needs someone that can cover air, ground and underwater. Even more if this power ranger suit will enhance skywalk and blue walk even more.
And with how sanji was Always monster trio guy, he would need someone on par with BB and Shilliew. So far it's hard to tell who is strongest after bb and shilliew, but Burgess got the most screentime, and is champion at fighting, he is also the first fleet captain.

Come to think of it, what if Franky rigs up all the Straw Hat Grand Fleet ships together to make his Sanjuan Wolf-sized mecha? Or the Noah from Fishman Island. I bet after they meet up with Vegapunk he'll supercharge his speed in crafting these things, maybe even make some mini-Franky drones to do the work for him.

Just would like to point out this chapter considerably hurt Carrot chances since we are putting the duration of her presence and the "arrival of dawn" together. There is nothing keeping the "dawn" to be expanded later on to something bigger, but where we stand now it was presented as something related to Wano specifically and something that will be achieved by the conclusion of this arc when Luffy opens Wano borders, rather than something he will achieve when he becomes Pirate King/takes the WG down as we were expecting.
Unless Carrot gains a reason to stay for herself, simply inheriting Pedro's will to protect Luffy until the dawn is here will not take her farther than this arc.

Nekomamushi said that he was "the man who awaits the dawn of this world". That has much larger implications than just Wano.

EDIT: Also, whatever "the dawn" is, it probably had a lot to do with the poneglyphs given what Oden was doing with Roger. That's not going to get solved in Wano.

Ah, I figured this is what you were going to talk about. It doesn't match what Pedro said. The Dawn thing is something that affects the entire world, not just Wano. We also know that it was important enough for him to collect Poneglyphs for. Momo's situation simply involves the Strawhats beating up Orochi and Kaido. And it's been something they've waited on for a very long time, as opposed to Orochi being in control for 20 years which is a separate issue. I don't even think Pedro has even brought up Wano even once? Nor would it make sense as to why exactly Nekomamushi and Inuarashi aren't allowed to die if what they're talking about is simply opening the borders.

I have a theory myself that the Dawn of the World is linked to the idea of having the minks going to live in Wano… so yes, there is a reasonable possibility that the whole Dawn thing will be settled by the end of the arc. However, I also believe that things go deeper and there is something more to the Dawn that is for the whole world, as this storyline is too close to the stuff of the Void Century... but maybe not.

Maybe Shutenmaru too, it's not a 0% chance that Law isn't the only thief I guess. In hindsight, I guess Zoro's group really was on Wano for a good while before Luffy showed up.

Rememver that Pedro was extremely young when this happened.

After this chapter, the dawn that Car and Dog had to survive for is Wano. That is pretty much a fact. It is their dead lord's last request after the latter sacrificed themselves to save them. Which made Cat and Dog fight for the last 20 years.

So why is the opening of borders linked to Poneglyphs? It is most likely because after learning the truth(void century) Oden went from questioning isolatiosnm to right out confront it which got him killed.

It's been 20 years, so the baddies will be taken down by 9 people. This can mean the samurai who were trapped in the fire and got sent forward in time (Orochi's interpretation), but it could also mean the Straw Hats (there's only 9 of them, Carrot is not a Straw Hat and Jinbe won't show up til later). Could also be a mix of characters, who knows.

The dawn of the world seems to be something greater than the minks alone, pedro's last words seem to imply something more than " you'll see why these guys need to survive and that's bedause wano must be freed. "
The phrase Momo's mom said could be part of the grand meaning of those words not just applied only to wano. I dont know man, I opened this thread and thought people would say carrot and chopper hugging luffy hurt her chances lol.

My personal observations this chapter. (note: I firmly believe that there will be at least 2 more nakama after Jinbe)

1. Carrot is still hanging with the Strawhats so she's staying for now. Since Momo is in Wano Inuarashi is probably here as well. If Carrot breaks off and returns to the Minks then yeah its not happening but if she's sticking around with the Strawhats for all of Wano arc…. well...

2. I feel like there's going to be another character by the end of Wano. Orochi's Two Sword Style got name dropped which is mildly interesting. I feel like we're probably due for a two-sword user (Brook uses 1, Zoro uses 3) so we'll see where that goes.

3. The teacher from the classroom scene, is she a snakeneck? I was speculating last thread that Snakenecks might make an appearance this arc. I personally think that if Oda is going for 12 Strawhats that he might do a zodiac theme at some point. possibly Snakeneck = Snake Zodiac. I don't think we have anyone in the crew currently that fits. Also if the teacher is indeed a snakeneck it appears they can retract their necks to appear like normal humans which is new.

I don't know if you skipped the WCI arc, but we know since the Sulong was introduced that it was an ability shared by all the minks. So either there would be a full moon in Wano and no one could go Sulong, Carrot included, or there would be a full moon and everyone could go Sulong, Carrot included.
And we knew there was going to be a full moon in Wano for just as long since Inuarashi had already said back in Zou that they would use the minks "true power" at Wano.

… I'm pretty sure nobody ever said that. Inuarashi stated they were going to use the "true power" of the minks at Wano long before we even found out about Sulong, so when we actually were introduced to it we already knew we were going to see other transformations at Wano. The full moon is pretty much the only thing about this "curse" that is not new information.
