Speaking of being late, I just realized the robots might be a nod to R2D2, even if they act more like Bender from Futurama.

Wouldnt touya have been on quirk registry as a black flame user? I can't imagine there would be too many people with the ability to freely create black super hot flames. Even if he wasnt on the register I would assume someone in the family would recognize his flame powers
His flames are actually blue and his quirk is officially called Cremation.
-
Yeah, it's not like anyone was in life threatening condition. Little weird that it was just skipped. Or not so much, considering the chapter was shorter.
Would be unfair to have lecture when two people weren't in the condition to listen.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
His flames are actually blue and his quirk is officially called Cremation.
There's no official name. Me and the other admins of the wiki made that up while classifying it as conjecture (because writing Dabi's Quirk was too annoying).
-
I don't think the government does much to help those with quirks that could be a disability. Twice definitely needed help with his. And then in Vigilantes we see people who are monstrous not having proper housing. Clothing stores seem more sympathetic to the citizens than the government lol.
Well, that´s sounds troubling, but I guess that one should have expected that from a society where people ignore a famished little kid instead of looking for help, Mha world may not be as unfair as One Piece´s, but it seems to have his problems.

Do you guys think that any of the students find the robots annoying? Will we have a robot uprising in second year and Hatsume will have to impose the three laws of robotics onto them?
If UA can have sassy robots, why is there none robot house-servant, are robots shunned by public view or are they a government regulated thing?
Damnit Hori, get some well deserved rest because I want answers and I want pictures ofSpider-ManBattle Fist! -

I did not know that, I guess it being blue does make more sense in terms of it being hotter.
-
did you… see the entrance exam arc? robots have always been a thing
@MDL:
You guys went back in time and added those in, didn't you?
I mean, yes, I remember them fighting the giant bots during the entrance exam, but I don't remember them being capable of speech and independent thought.

there's nothing to suggest that they're sentient
it's completely in character for Nezu to program them to shittalk the students/humans in general -
The one case that we have seen on the series, where a kid develops their quirk, and even if it's dangerous and fatal to those around them, they were taken to the hospital and then placed in the care of the most suited guardian for their quirk.
Eiri.
I'm not saying that Twice's is responsable for his state, but it's like the criminalization of drug consumption, he abused his quirk, and commited crimes with it, and now that he needs help, he has to face the weight of the law to get it. Before he abused his quirk he seemed to be a well adjusted thug.
-
How much of a criminal was twice beforehand?
-
Twice’s rap sheet is probably cute compared to Magne’s, Toga’s and the one that Dabi has been accumulating.
-
It mostly seemed like he was abusing himself.

My Hero Vigilantes chapter 39 is out!
https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/my-hero-academia-vigilantes-chapter-39/chapter/15934?read=1! We hit another game-changing moment. Koichi using his projectile in front of Aizawa is huge. Aizawa can't ignore it. Sure, he could bend the rules for Koichi, and I'm sure he won't arrest him or anything but he has to see Koichi has the potential to become a true hero. Might be going full fanboy, but I can see Aizawa becoming Koichi's new mentor. I can even see Koichi becoming Aizawa's sidekick at the end of the series. That'd be a hell of a way to connect him to the main series.
! Koichi's battle prowess and desire to do good has been built passed the point of him giving it up. Be interesting if heroes and the police start targeting him. Dude has the skills to evade them, at least for a while.Do you guys think that any of the students find the robots annoying? Will we have a robot uprising in second year and Hatsume will have to impose the three laws of robotics onto them?

Damnit Hori, get some well deserved rest because I want answers and I want pictures ofSpider-ManBattle Fist!I hope Hori addresses it but somehow I doubt it. They're probably there to show the manga takes place in an alternate future. But, he'd have all my respect if it was building toward a robot arc. Thinking about it, Hero Hater Government Guy could try commisioning robots to take over saving people. We've joked about Sentinels and Ultron but it may happen.
@Long:
How much of a criminal was twice beforehand?
We don't know, but I don't think he was. He said he joined the league because they accepted him. Probably was a shady dude but a professional criminal? Nah.
-
I liked her little Ricky Ricardo moment, too. I imagine portraying it will be easier in writing than dubbing. All you basically need is a different font to show she's speaking another language.
Dub just needs to have her switch to a different language than English. Or give her a heavy accent that she falls into. They're going to have a much harder time with manga face lets out giant japanese letters.
THough the dub hasn't really been able to do anything special with All Might's attack names being in bold English, they just… leave it as English. So maybe they won't even care and they'll just have the others saying something else entirely.
-
She speaks horse when flustered in the dub.
-
@Cyan:
She speaks horse when flustered in the dub.
i humbly suggest that she slips into MLP speak in the dub and starts saying thing like "everypony"

I'm dying. I just saw the best traitor Kaminari theory and now I want it to be true.
He's not actually betraying UA on purpose but he keeps livestreaming everything and Shiggy just happened to find it lol.
-
Lmao. The league of villains just listen in on him like a podcast
-
I totally buy Kaminari and Ashido having a podcast together accidentally leaking top secret info on a weekly basis
-
Wasn't that a Space Dandy episode?

I don't think none of us here commented on Todoroki performing Endeavor's moves for the first time soon. Yeah, that fire move Endeavor's talking about will be new to us, but Todoroki might also do some of the moves Endeavor used against High End.

Wouldn't he kill another student doing that?
But yeah I could see him pulling out whatever move Endeavour was talking about.

Cruel reminder that this week we are on a break.

Cruel reminder that this week we are on a break.
Well, at least it's before the actual match got underway. Hopefully the break will allow Horikoshi to put out "regular length" chapters again.
-
So apparently Nerdist announced that a live action movie is getting made by Legendary.
Finally a Sky High sequel we deserve.
Here‘s the dream cast. xD
!
-
I saw that announcement. I was hoping it was fake lol.
-
get Terry Crews at All Might
he'd be able to give the SMASH some real justice
-
Not a fan of live action cartoons. Use all that money and make a good animated movie instead. But, I'm sure at least one good live action adaption is out there. Can't think of one off the top of my head.
-
Yeah, I've rather they just pair up Umakoshi with a good director and let them make a good animated film based off of the first arc or so. Live action can't pull off the intensity you can get from animation, as showcased in the movie we just got.
Alas, I will laugh my ass off if Chris Evans gets ponied into playing All-Might.
-
Is that One Piece Live Action series still in the plans?
-
All of the Pro Heroes should be played by wrestlers.

@Cyan:

CM Punk as Present Mic
all he's good at is being loud, after all -
The traitor stands over Izuku.
"IT'S ME, MIDORIYA! IT'S ME MIDORIYA! IT WAS ME, ALL ALONG MIDORIYA!"

Meh, while I appreciate the author for fleshing out Class-B.
They'll still end up useless and forgotten in future arcs.
Heck the author can barely keep all the Class-A students relevant to the story.
I would have prefered if this tournament was held during the licensing exams and it was students from other schools showing such versatility in their quirks and how to use them.
In this case though its an absolute waste. This characters(class B) will never contribute significantly to the plot because Class A will always have dibs on relevance.
I don't buy Todoroki being rushed and taken unaware by steel boy. Wasn't it already established that he's insanely fast with his at activating his quirk, he was fast enough to react to deku using all for one to boost his speed.
Also why isn't steel boy's footing affected by the ice? author is nuffing our guys to give class B a chance to shine.
-
"He can spin each and every part of his body"
Wow… this asks for an SBS question, doesn't it?
Pony's quirk seemed so random, though.
The Toga spin off was the highlight of the chapter to be honest. That and Endeavor texting like a true parent.
-

Steel Boy is being propelled by two of Pony's horns.

I actually appreciate the time Horikoshi is giving to all the matches so far. I mean, it doesn't advance the plot, but sometimes it's cool to just sit back and enjoy a "4 individuals with powers vs. other 4 individuals with powers". There's nothing wrong with that, and I feel, so far, he's doing a pretty good job.
On the other hand, I also feel like he's grossly overrating Class B and, by proxy, grossly underplaying Class A. Our heroes are basically falling for every single Class B strategy, and sometimes it feels like their comeback is basically by "powering through them!", like in the first match.
It's still interesting and I'm enjoying it (are these the best fights we've had till now? I say. . .yes? Maybe?), but I think 3 times in a row where Class A gets in a pinch by a better prepared/better reacting/better performing Class B might be getting a bit old.
-
Class B keeps comming back, and get their moments here and there, with Tetsutetsu and Kendo having more highlights than the final quarter of class A, and the classes could get shuffled around next year.
And for the third time in this match, it's been showcased that while class A was focusing on individual strengths, Class B has been working on synergy of quirks and characters.
I predicted a while ago that Honeku would be able to make it sloosh, as while his quirk is not flashy, it is strong. Pony and SPIRAL have straightforward useful quirks.
And from a pure entretainment value, this is great.
-
Another 13 page chapter. And after a week off. Hrm.
Meh, while I appreciate the author for fleshing out Class-B.
They'll still end up useless and forgotten in future arcs.
Heck the author can barely keep all the Class-A students relevant to the story.
It's always possible that at some point he merges the classes together, shuffles them around, or just forces them into teamups like he did on the field trip to the woods. Yeah, he can't keep track of all 20 characters, some are naturally just going to be in the background. But some new characters can stand out and make such an impression that they become more prominent, or friends/rivals with a lead, or whatever.
Look at Shinso. He's been presented as a one off obstacle at the exams, in Class C, and he's getting a really large focus this arc and being setup to move into one of the other classes. (as a replacement for the eventual traitor?)
Or the earlier arc where we saw the Big Three, and they got a lot of time.
So no, he's not going to focus on all 20 class A guys, and he's certainly not going to focus on all 40 combined. But the 7 or 8 class A characters that really work, the 2 or 3 other class A characters that have stuck a cord largely due to their designs but aren't super prominent, and the 2 or 3 class B characters that really stand out and fans take a liking to? Maybe. Heck, they've got 6 different teachers, plus guest teachers and a principal.
(For instance, I don't think he intended for Tsuya to be a big deal. She's certainly not one of the 6 or 7 most focused on, and her power set is "frog", but fans took a liking to her, so she's gotten a little more spotlight, and some filler episodes… but still no main plotlines and completely excluded from the movie. How it goes.)
-
No problems with Class B for me.
As for Class B having overwhelming teamwork, I think that's what Hirokoshi is going for. Class A has to be shown individual strength isn't enough. Something I'll sure they'll all reflect on later, but Deku (and maybe Bakugou to an extent) will pick up on that during their fights and win. I don't think it's a coincidence Mina is all about team attacks then ends up on Deku's team. I except major combos in the final match.I'm happy Class B is strong out the box, but Iida's going to put the momentum back in Class A's favor. Seriously thought Ojiro was getting beatdown this chapter. I like the guy and maybe he'll beat Drillman but after that, he's done. Major props to Juzo. It'll all come down to him and Todoroki.
How many chapters ahead are Jump mangaka? Probably won't get a full-length chapter until the next or one after that.
-
How many chapters ahead are Jump mangaka? Probably won't get a full-length chapter until the next or one after that.
Ahead of the actual deadline for the magazine, they're not ahead at all and hit right on the deadline constantly. (Koche Kame may have been an exception, since it was stand alone gag chapters he could probably bank some ahead of time.)
If you're talking between when they turn it in, the printing process, and when the public reads it, it's about two weeks. (In american publishing its three or four weeks, but the Japanese system is dedicated to getting out weeklies so they're more set up for it.)
-
Shouto induced anxiety attacks. Like a true parent. Lol.
And man the Toga spin off was just too precious.
