It seems like they won't, megumi will just straight up crush him.
Food Wars - It's In the Trash
-
-
Seems more like a call back to the 1st chapter, but Megumi style. So a Shokugeki isn't probably gonna be needed.
-
Smug confident Megumi is best Megumi
-
It's great that Megumi is still Megumi, she's just confident in her abilities.
-
My fist was clenched in happiness throughout the chapter.
Get 'em, gurl!!! -
I'm conflicted with this chapter. On the one hand, it's nice to see a confident Megumi and it was a nice chapter for her character with her expressions and actions. On the other hand, the lack of development leading to this still makes this not nearly as great as it could be. Outside of her lack of victories, especially in a one on one being zero, there is something else I felt could've been developed a bit more to make this moment more impactful. We all know Megumi comes from a background in hospitality, and while she has improved leaps and bounds her inspiration still comes from that. Unfortunately, I feel like the whole idea of Megumi fighting for the inn which she would understand that sort of environment versus a person who doesn't understand it was woefully underdeveloped, and leaves me with an overall underwhelming impression of this little arc that could've been better. There's just a lack of emotional connection, especially with no internal thoughts of Megumi thinking about this situation and how she would feel if this happened to her inn.
-
Just her telling the owners to not close down their shop no matter what is enough, there really isn't a need to repeat the formula of characters having inner thoughts when faced with situations that are relatable IMO.
With that said… Damn. I just want to know how many challenges Megumi has taken in the past 3-4 months since she became an elite. She's so full of confidence is not even normal, she looks like a completely different person from her usual self. Being the lowest seat she was obviously the easiest target, and unlike Erina whose status was well known, Megumi has a record of loses in Shokugeki and is greatly underestimated.

Just started reading, up to volume 3 now
I learned pretty quickly not to read this near anybody, I mean seriously like 3 pages before tentacle hentai shit lol
but the art work is magnificent it might even be better than one punch man

Babumi. Peace!
-
I'd love to think that this was included consciously due to the World Cup currently going on.
Either way, that's a great look for her. -
I've got no complaints this time, chapter was fun. Now I want a spinoff or just have the series be about Megumi travelling the world doing different things and learning from those experiences. Have her bump into Rindo from time to time as well.

It can be called Golden Girl.
-
That guy is only the Raditz of the Dark Chefs.
-
I want to see Souma's training flashback.
-
Can Megumi be the main character? Her character arc and personality are so much more refreshing than the fucking straight off the assembly line shit Soma is.

No because that would require sensible decision making and Megumi having actual spotlight on her during cooking challenges

Either way, that's a great look for her.It is not USA, so if he's a sport fan is going to be soccer.
-
Rattatouile'd lol.
Here, let me overwhelm the incredibly stubborn elitist customer with the taste of his hometown!
-
Megumi is the best girl! As well as an increasingly confident yet humble, ping-pong anime loving, 10th seat owning, world traveling, kimono rocking, in vegetables specializing badass.
Y'all may add any traits I might have forgotten at your own desire!
-
Going against the vibe of this thread, the reasons for Megumi's maturity seem bit forced. In six months you can't even pick up the essence of a single culture, much less the multiple ones….
But overall, this arc is very refreshing. -

But overall, this arc is very refreshing.Yeah I'd agree with that. But but has also been painted as someone who's very empathetic. That could give her a leg up on knowing what people would need.

But overall, this arc is very refreshing.Nevermind that her deduction on the dude's culture was also fairly inaccurate. Her deduction was that he's from the American south was because his accent makes it sound like he speaks more Mexican-style Spanish and his American style clothes, soooo Texas or Arizona? If she picked any generic southern sorta stew or fried chicken or barbecue or something, it'd probably be fine. But instead, she chose a dish that's iconic for a very specific part of America that speaks Creole and/or a more cajun accent in which this classic Japanese inn happened to have the Cajun Holy Trinity on hand at this time of day to make this dish localized entirely within their kitchen

[/hide]Soooo yeah interesting takeaways from traveling all over the world lol.
-
Hmm…it was quite convenient scenario for Megumi then.
-
And what exactly is not convenintly placed within a small arc that you know is going to conclude in a few chapters or so. Just enjoy the character development and don't be nitpicky on such small things.
-
It's a pretty big thing considering the whole focus on "Megumi's learned the hospitality and culture of these other places". Just because it's a shorter arc doesn't mean it doesn't mean it shouldn't be scrutinized
-

I am enjoying , i have already said it. But a bit of nitpicking isn't bad thing.
-
Well, you're right. At least things here aren't as bad as in other places. God, never step your feet in 4chan if you value your sanity.
-
Entire E10 ranking has been revealed, with a big surprise to boot.
! 1st Soma
2nd Iishiki
3rd Kuga
4th Hayama
5th Ryou
6th Alice
7th Takumi
8th Eizan
9th Nene
10th MegumiVery interesting if you ask me. Glad those two are not going to be wasted, though it brings the question of what things transpired during this 4 month time skip.
-
I'd rather that those 8 9 and 10 were in 9 10 8 order, but its not surprising.
-
! Eizan and Nene isn't that much of a big surprise. Especially with Megishima graduating soon and Erina being headmaster there was going to be four empty spots. Though Eizan getting above Nene is surprising. Guess he actually decided to start getting gud.
! Wonder what happened to Mimasaka.
! Kuga is probably riding high. -
Subaru probably is in a self discovery or omni discovery travel.
-
Subaru is too good to waste on the likes of the Elite 10
-
Subarau joined the Dark Chefs. Wait. Evil Chefs? Whatever their lame name was lol
-
Subaru is already in a panel post time skip just taking classes because he ain't got time for the stupid bullshit going on
-
His style of cooking revolves around copying others skills. Not fit for an elite of students with diverse cooking styles, to be honest.
! I don't know if this "Saiba" they say is really Jou. But it would sure bring interesting things to the table, and shed some light on Jou's postacademic travels.
I'm also certain this group is only one of many cooking factions that will show up, setting things for the BLUE, the International Cooking Tournament.
-

The entire premise of learning is to copy others. He should be up there with all of them. Going according to the story, his ability was able to come real close to beating the samurai guy. Him being in the top 3 or 5 would make a better use of his character and would give incentive for the rest of the elites and students to go beyond their limits. As they have to overcome someone that can copy their cooking abilities.
-
Dude can literally emulate any of the Elite 10 chefs after all his image training. He could be going around with that Elite 10 money pile copying Bear Grylls on the proper way to drink urine and integrating that into his portfolio of techniques on improving other dishes (which was kind of his arc in Soma versus Subaru?)
Like his whole deal is figuring out how to optimize dishes beyond their original make, which is kind of something that would be pretttyyyy handy as a gourmet elite. At the very least, it's actually a lot more applicable than having a specialty built around whatever Eizan specializes in (…...............money?)
-
Making chicken soup out of high cuality chicken.
-
Okay, I phrased that wrong.
Still, 4 months passed, and in that short amount of time a lot can happen. For instance, the lab trio have been switching their seats by competing with each other nonstop.
-
Okay, I gotta ask. Why is Food Wars "The Room" of Japan? (gave up on this series a long time ago)
-
Because I brought up the movie when trying to make the point that you can acknowledge something's shortcomings but still find it enjoyable to watch/read.
Although I sometimes wonder if Bleach is the true "The Room" of Japan.
Y'know, because all of that "The Heart" stuff seems like something Tommy Wiseau might do. -
There's enjoying something in spite of its flaws
And then there's ignoring the flaws that inherently degrade the work in question and playing it off like they don't matter
And then there's saying "I enjoy this work because it is hot garbage and fascinating in how bad it is, just like 'The Room'"
-

What are you trying to say.
-
That using "The Room" is an astute comparison to Soma
-
It's like watching something that is universally seen as trash. Like the Room. There's entertainment in watching something super bad. And then there's people that genuinely love the Jurassic Park even though there's a ton of stuff wrong in the writing and they consider it top notch. Despite the problems.

Food Wars is good at what it does.
It's just what it does is so fucking boilerplate and by the book that it feels bad.
This was the same shit Fairy Tail suffered for. They never tried to go beyond their comfort zone and was M.A.R.R.I.E.D to that status quo. Food Wars seems content with being a by the numbers shonen cooking manga and nothing else.
That's great if that's what your looking for, but I want more in the things I read.

Very accurate, and definitely nails the reason I still like it.
I love and appreciate well written tales and excellent manga as much as anyone else,
but I'm also a simple man who wants to enjoy a by-the-numbers manga from time to time.
Like reading the Sunday comics amongst the rest of the newspaper content.
This one reeled me in with the cooking premise, and things just went from there. -
Was there no chapter this week?

Was there no chapter this week?
Iy is just taking a lot more time to release a scanlation nowadays.
