If it's a Smash 4 port(which I'm assuming given it comes out this year) I don't see why we wouldnt also get Gen 8. I always assumed 2019 for Metroid Prime so that's fine.
The Splatoon 2 DLC looks great! And Mario Tennis Aces could actually be good! But besides that it was just a trip to New Port City, as expected.
It's very likely at this point that it's Smash 5.
Sakurai was knowingly working on something since 2016 or even prior: https://www.gamnesia.com/news/super-smash-bros.-creator-masahiro-sakurai-has-a-game-in-the-works. Also the logo at the end doesn't mention Bamco in the credits, nor other third parties lending their properties yet. It also has a new logo with a temp title and doesn't show any gameplay, weird if it was a "deluxe" version where the game was already fully completed.
With the inclusion of Inklings, Breath of the Wild Link, and all other informations combined, it should be assured of being the new installment. With that said i would like to see something to shake up the formula, like allowing to create a team of 2-3 characters like in Marvel vs Capcom or DB FighterZ, or a new story mode different from either Melee and SSE.

As soon as I scanned the headlines after getting off work I texted my roommate a picture of the Incredible Hulk and he immediately figured out what it meant. He's been really adamant on wanting Smash on Switch in some form so he's over the moon over the news.
As for me, well looks like the Bowser's Inside Story remake is the "nobody asked for this" game of the direct and we are hitting Mario & Luigi oversatuation on the 3DS at this point, if such a thing were possible, but the Superstar Saga remake was secretly one of the best-looking 2D games on the handheld so I'll probably end up caving. I just hope they add a little more to the base game beyond the minions mode which kind of overstayed its welcome. And make the Fawful Express battle not so awful.
I'll probably end up getting the Luigi's Mansion remake too since I've never played the original and have heard that Dark Moon, while an excellent game in its own right, didn't quite live up to its predecessor's atmosphere and mood.

Okami is an excellent game. If you haven't gone for it and would enjoy it on Switch, it's definitely a great game to get.

Rank X is going to be torture for me.
I was already raging trying to achieve S+ in all modes (mainly thanks to Rainmaker). Back to the grindstone I suppose.

I'm surprised why they skipped Partners In Time…or at least, did it out of sequence. Don't get me wrong, I get BiS is better myself, but PiT has a pretty wild story. Like, "Toads being captured and drained of their energy" kinda wild. Those Shroobs are the cruelest species in the Marioverse.

More or less. The second game is also a lot more mission-based than just exploring the mansion.

.So wild Nintendo wound up more or less copying the essentially the same premise for Paper Mario Color Splash…..which is kind of why I'm glad they leapfrogged PIT.....eventhough I've never played it

Of the 3ds, I'd like OG Luigi's Mansion. I did't complete Dark Moon because the fake play sessions, Super Mario 64 style that was enforced to build artificial stoping points made the game unloveable to me. The removal of actual dead people instead of the ectoplasm blobs also was a miss for me, but putting such type of obligatory checkpoint in an adventure-exploration based game was the killer.
If I had a proper mansion(s?) to traverse and a few more varied ectoplasm blobs, I would have liked dark moon.

OK, I'm liking splatoon 2 way more than the first one, only because the superior controls. It is so cool to use the gyroscope to aim, when it doesn't weights like a book.

I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

Yeah that was fun stuff! Even that loser Kira got in on a few. Gotta get yourself league-worthy next. Communication can be pretty important in team-based games though haha. But if you don't feel comfortable talking you could always just mute yourself and listen.

If you do it in one mode you can League in any mode. But yeah for personal ranking it's independent per mode this time.

It turns out the Switch isn't actually USB-C Compliant, which is probably why third party docks keep bricking Switches.
