@Envy:
I don't know that I agree. Although I don't think that D/P remakes are absolutely necessary, I don't really think that R/S remakes were, either. Really only the first two generations are so dated that they really needed a remake. Plus, G/S/C have that battery issue that makes the cartridges downright unsavable.
True, but now I'm thinking of another consideration - accessibility of mons. For a significant amount of time, you couldn't transfer your favorites from the first two gens due to how radical the mechanics changed.
Gen III….you can use cartridge migration -> Unova transfer -> poke transfer -> bank, but for some that's now a little too involved, moreso when they don't own one game per generation. Transfering from Sinnoh cuts out the DS cartridge handling, but you still have to keep a postgame Gen V version nearby.
Although R/S/E are most certainly outdated by today's standards, I think they are much more playable than R/B/Y and G/S/C. Like, they're night and day apart.
Oh, agreed. Like I mentioned that DP has slow game speed? By comparison, RSE has some of the fastest. I've replayed those games the most due to this very day.
At this point it just feels like they're having fun with the remakes, and I think they do an excellent (not perfect, but you know.) job with them, so I'll keep wanting them. I'd much rather have them than a third version of Sun/Moon.
I also agree but I want to explain - they can do a third version of Sun/Moon but I'd rather something be in the interim first. Still feels relatively recent that we got them, haha.
