Damn. Now I'm thinking how awesome this arc could have been with a further plot twist. Bege actually wasn't trying to kill Mama, he just wanted to capture the SHs and deliver them to her. There is a reason why Harujin hailed Usopp as a god and the direct cause wasn't him freeing them. Instead that act was a confirmation of something else.When the Strawhats reach Elbaf, they are met by suspicious giants who do not believe that they are peaceful and try to attack. In the background a volcano erupts and several giants see it as a sign from their gods to settle the issue by a fight. However there are some giants holding back. When Usopp fires a saragasso star to trip up the giants, they suddenly stop and hail him as a foretold god.
The real reason for the "God" title is that the Giants have a prophesy about Usopp=
It says that a 'small man with big nose' shall be the one to aid couple of giants to regain their honor in two events before he even reaches Elbaf and the moment he steps onto the Elbaf soil a volcano will erupt to announce the arrival of a new god.
