I think that the broken sword is to show that the captains are not pushovers . In the past their opponents were mere soldiers now their level is so high that they are fighting captains who are on a whole another level than soldiers .
Realise that they are fighting 200 tough guys among the soldiers of 2 boat and there are 7 more left , it's a real nightmare .
By the way i love the way the captain jumped on the bridge of hesitation ,this chapter is kickass .

I'm not biased. I was diappointed with how it started, but I've loved everything about this fight until last week. Luffy v. Croc dragged to me, too, but Croc was a much better villan than Lucci, had more screen time, and was all the more deserving.
Basically Lucci's beating up the "quiet kid in the corner", so I can't see what the big deal is. All the talk of Lucci having "unique" moves is total bullcrack if what he does isn't interesting. Croc was great since most of his powers were varied; until the "shigan king" move, all of Lucci's were still slight variations on the Rokushiki. Way to make a mountain out of a molehill, AP.
So, in short, everyone should suck up that this fight is dragging and stop making a big deal about it's "coolness". It's a pretty filler fight and I'd much rather focus on escaping Enies Lobby than beating up the not-so-bad guy.

That was an impact dial. Reject dial is similar; it's more powerful but it does damage to the user.
sorry, i was thinking in impact dial, if lucci attacks usopp and he can capture it in an impact dial, it can give a lot of damage to him… but well... ODA will say that in next chapters :)

the impact dial hurts too if you can;'t handle the strength you're dishing out. The impact dial alone effed up Uso's already damaged arm pretty bad in the LUffyVUsopp fight.

Also, you should be a little more conscious of flame bait, since I wasn't the first to lay some out here and I'll probably not be the last. OF COURSE my opinion isn't almighty, but I'm offering a grain of clarity not everyone else appears to be seeing; what occured this week was almost exactly the same as what happened last week, so why are people still hailing it as "cool"? Luffy's normal pistol attacks were awesome for the first 200+ of OP, but since he initially uses that technique against every opponent, it gets pretty old.
In our case, we've been watching these physical fights since around chapter four hundred and five. Unless someone is a physical fight buff (like Carter), such overuse of the fighter gets really stale. Just like with the fanservice in Nami v. Califa, a little of something goes a long way, but too much is just poisonous.
Inevitably, people become severe haters the day after they were severe lovers; if we don't cite how Oda is dragging, people will continue to hound over the chapters, giving undue praise and brining down the standards of AP's intellectual discussion. Basically put, I'm calling our OP fandom here right now no better than the Narutards we criticize so harshly.
Besides, OP's appeal is a fresh blend of different genres and styles; a little straight carnal fun like Enies Lobby is fine once and a while, but Oda's had a tendancy as of late to overdo indulgence.

Man, you don't know how long I've been wanting to say that. At this point, they are no better, "TRUEST STATEMENT EVAR". But I do think this is a great chapter tho because of the background elements in it are excellent and Ussop finally gets his moment.
the 'Luffy losing' scene was abit exaggerrated. He just got caught with a fierce attack and fell over. It didn't look any more lethal than most of the dangerous attacks he gets caught with.
Still..zoro's sword breaking was pretty crazy..
And ofcourse Usopp's return.

I never once said the Lucci v Luffy fight was OMGFG super awesome. Some ppl like it, other complain that it's dragging.shrugs It's all relative. It would be alot more exciting had Lucci been as important to the story as Croc was. Spandam was the real villain here.Lucci was just his bodyguard.

You know, I was starting to think last week that that fight was draging as well. But seeing this chapter, I kinda of understand why ODA did it so. The Ougan technique was a device he used to overwhelm us. By doing this and saying what he said, Lucci had more character development than ever, and this was something that he was lacking (I´m sure as hell that if the fight ends next week, I´ll be much more satisfied than if it ended last week or in the first pistol).
All in all, ODA made myself regain interest in the fight instead of losing it in this chapter. But this interest will only perdure for a week more I guess.
About the chapter itself: well my prediction turned RIGHT for once!!! I said that Ruffy could lose this one, and he is on the way… but anyway, I think that Usopp will interfere with the fight, but not in the way everyone is predicting. While he shoots at Lucci from distance, Ruffy will have enough time to go gear 3rd and put an end to this. That is, of course, if he awakes.
Now, let´s face it, 200 captains is a strong threat. Add the VAs just looking and BC is looking really what Robin said what it would be: an incomparable weapon of mass destruction that leaves no survivor. And everyone should lose hope on the Impel Down arc, the SH will not survive if they are defeated here. And God forbids some DeusEXMachina at this point saving them. So, it´s win or win - and escape - for the SH.
A kickass chapter, that stands shining when compared to the last few ones.

- If there are something likes 100 marines for every ship, and there are 9 ships… now there are 900 marines: 200 Captains (and 5 VA) for 700 marines?!? BAH!!!
I'm not sure, but I believe it's closer to 1000 marines per ship. It might have mentioned it back in the chapter where the VA orders them to fire on the ship Luffy and Lucci are fighting on.
As for whoever is saying Usopp got his moment…What are you on? He freaking took off his mask and yelled "Luffy!" It's great that he willingly revealed his identity, but he hasn't done anything.

It´s not a simple move, it´s a move that represents his will to stand for his justice. And a strong one. The guy gave us a glimpse of what goes in his mind and showed that just like Ruffy did numerous times, he also has the power and will to back it up. Ougan is like Ruffy´s storm, gears and so on, something that is iconic and representative by itself. But that´s just my opinion.

you know what would be cool? if AoKiji came and saved the mugiwara and joined the crew…cause they way it is looking right now, they are gonna need some serious outside help...(dragon perhaps? smoker? aokiji? blackbeard? ace?) As we all know, its gonna be intersting to see how this all plays out...

Sanji will save the day….He will hijacked the warship that just dropped off the 200 captains. He will use the ship to either attack the captains or the other ship.
Seeing sanji on it... usopp will jump on and use the cannons himself.... after seeing how bad sanji uses it.
Quite frankly, the idea of a logia joining the strawhats scares me, especially Aokiji. Although I do agree along the line, one of the characters u mentioned are gona help.
Oh and just for the record, i see Franky but unless he's lifting a cannon or something there's no way it can be him, but whatever it is, it's no beer bottle, or the worst bottle ever drawn by Oda EVER!!!

I think that either shanks whitebeard ace or blackbeard or dragon is gonna come or that luffy reveal wat "D." means. Cuz i remember that an interview with one piece story writer says that D. stands for a different race and then there was a disgution about how saul got "D."
Anyone know what page the spoiler was posted? I'm not in the mood the sift through 12+ pages, though I usually don't mind. And great chapter, even though I'd read the spoiler, it still delivered.
As for the Captain Rush, well if I'm not mistaken, the detailed spoiler had Usopp (I think) saying something like they were the same ranking that Smoker was, he never directly said they were at his strenght level. Which in turn could lead to a significant number of the Captains being smacked around, but I seriously doubt they'd defeat them all in their current condition. They could if there was some outside help, which from the looks of it, is possible, but it's also possible for them to be destroyed by some D.E.M. of sorts.

How can you guys think about Luffy defeated by Lucci.. there should be a way to win this battle, a hidden power, a good idea … but never will be with the help of someone, nether Ussop or zorro or Sanji, becoz this is a 1 vs 1 battle and a Real Captain like Luffy will never agree with this help ... so forget this idea.. no meat will be dropped to Luffy or anything else,
Even if Oda makes Franky win against Fukoro with the help of Chopper but they have start the battle with Fukuro at 100 % Level and Franky with only 30% of his skills.
I'm not expecting that Ussop will say something more than : Luffy, I'm trusting on you .. or something like: don't you wanna me end this fight for you ... just to make Luffy glade to see him safe and happy to hear that's he's trusting on him more than ever... Ussop leaving the crew was a big shock for him but seeing him coming back will be a good motivation to end this f** battle for good.
Don't forget That Luffy is a real damn Stupid captain so he was wondering that ussop was Soge King all the time.
The Idea of BC attacking the SH was a big Idea from Oda but with a lot of risks, because how the crew will save the day in this situation must be a really convincing solution for people reading and loving this manga. anway .. let's wait to see how Oda will save his day
