The dramatic mask removal everyone's been waiting for was great. Very emotional. Can't wait to see what Usopp will do now.

This chapter is only one half good. The Marines pulling out all the stops on the static Straw Hats is SUPERB (Zoro's sword was broken…HOLY GOSH), but Luffy v. Lucci is _really fudging lame and we can now say Oda compares to Kishimoto for dragging out his fights. A whole volume for a fight is annoying. A whole volume for a fight ending in a loss for the main character is outrageous.
If the fight doesn't end next chapter I'm going to give birth to a bomb._

At least other stuff is going on while the fight is raging on. With Kishimoto, its nothing but the fight for the most part that is going on at the time.
Although I happen to love this fight, that's a critical difference between the two.

…I just had a very bizarre thought. Sure, Zoro stole a Marine's sword to replace Yubashiri, but it might not be a permanent replacement...anyone else think he's going to "borrow" Funkfreed? XD

Well I think that Usopp will somehow say something to Luffy like he would really love to come back to the crew, but as he's too weak, if Luffy can't stand up to protect him, he will not be able to come back.
As Luffy really wish Usopp to come back with them, I think that will motivate him enough to kick Lucci ass. -

They're in bad conditon, Luffy's down, Usopp took his mask off, Sanji's disappearance.. I say they're taken to Impel Down and do a BW&SH Combo!
Except that the buster call fleet doesn't take prisoners (with the possible exception of Robin).
Am I the only one who thinks Crocodile and gang might actually be on the "escape ship",
as it was originally meant to go to Impel down after all. -

Agreed. In my humble opinion if you removed the scenes with the other characters you could probably fill about half the number of chapters (I'm not sure how long this fight has lasted so I can't give an exact number). It was the same with the final Luffy/Crocodile fight. While it lasted three episodes, I think there was enough material for about one and half.
Although I happen to love this fight, that's a critical difference between the two.
Once again, I agree. Yes the fight seems to have dragged on slightly, but I'm enjoying it none the less. As long as it ends soon, I'll be happy.
And if Luffy has indeed lost… What a way to end the arc! Maybe my idea of him being captured and the others having to rescue him will actually happen...
And another sword has been broken. I agree with others that more emphesis should have been put on it as it is a pretty major incident. Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't that the cursed sword?
I can't wait for the next chapter.

Still can't believe Luffy is down. Did he go down like this with Croc? I don't think he did.
Anyways, Luffy didn't have time to avoid the attack. It looks like Lucci dodged his JET Stamp and immediately did his Soru+Geppou right up to Luffy's chest and hit him with the Roku-Ou-Gan. I soooooo hope Oda doesn't spend the next chapter w/o revealing if Luffy is gonna get back up or not…

Lucci used Soru to dodge luffy's JET stamp and caught him off guard.
One mistake and Lucci punishes you using his killer move.

In this case, the story is progressing at the same time, because of that the fight doesn't seem as dragged out….at least to me.
In Naruto, when a fight is dragged out, there is nothing else going on at the same time.A comparison between the two is inappropriate.

anyway, Luffy vs Lucci... DUDE. did luffy actually... lose?? and usopp took off his mask. luffy, being as dense as a rock, never knew sogeking was usopp, so hearing usopp wanting to come back will drive luffy back to his feet and to victory. at least, that's what i am really really hoping. remember, if luffy can get up, the fight's not over. lucci still has that serious leg injury that immobilized him for a moment earlier. if that happens again while luffy is on his feet and in Gear 2nd... BOOM, it'll end right there.

ok, seriously. this is why i don't like the idea of the SHP being taken to ID.
i see no way for them to escape if this happens. Luffy will either be executed or minimally placed in Seastone cuffs, so will Robin, and Chopper. Zoro and Sanji will be chained up in heavy chains, as will Franky (though he has the most potential to escape), Nami will be placed in chains (though she could probably steal the keys LOL), Usopp will be tied in ropes (hehe, just kidding, he'll be chained down as well).#1 reason why i don't want an ID down arc w/ all the SHP captured is b/c this arc has been running for 2 years now, 100+ chapters, it's time for them to finish up and head out. i need a break and so do the SHP.
If Luffy is really down for the count, then I can think only of intervention from side outside source, and i'm really hoping it doesn't come to this. Funny, i thought Oda couldn't get me all worked up anymore than he did w/ this whole arc's unfolding, but man, i'm wired right now. Forget Monster, Oda for revitality

I really liked how Oda broke Zoro's sword. It shows us that this 200 captains are not kidding!
For Sanji missing I think we have 3 ways:
- Mr Prince to save the day after everybody got caught. I don`t like this way
- Doing something insane to stop the 200 captains assault. I don`t like this either
- Somebody said this at the spoiler thread; he is getting some meal, and Ussop will do what he can`t do: deliver it to Luffy with Kabuto. I like this better!

Uh, I would think so. Luffy v. Lucci is nearly eighteen chapters in length; Luffy v. Croc rounds one, two, and three were nine total. Croc was also a much less boring villan than Lucci, so this fight has been a total and utter waste of time.
Lucci's done a couple interesting moves but nothing comparable to Fukurou, let alone Kumadori, Califa, Jyabura, or Kaku.

Why would he? He disappeared before Luffy went down. He'd be stupid to leave once all the Captains showed up just to make Luffy a meal when Luffy (as far as he knew) was winning.
To Terek: Lucci being boring or not is your own opinion. If the fight's only too long for you because you find Lucci boring, then it makes sense that a lot of readers (assuming they like Lucci) won't find the fight too long at all.

Oda is continuously making progress with the BC, the crew, the FF/giants/Gally-la and even Spandam for a while while at the same time continuing the fight. Sure it lacks the lustre of the Croc/Enel fights, but i honestly cannot feel it dragging out because of the other stuff going on atm. At least the chapters don't make you feel like you waited an entire week for nothing. -
