Chapter 866: Natural Born Destroyer

Great flashback and yay first page! :)
-
It's really interesting how Oda is now giving us context to all of Linlin's quirks. This flashback is starting off well in my opinion. We're getting kind of overflown with characters we already know (literally all the giants we've already seen from Elbaf in 1 chapter, which I didn't really expect), but there's some new ones appearing too.
-
"10 months later" is correct.
It means Big Mom destroyed the Elbaf village at the age of 5-6 years old.Hahaha, Luffy and Capone plan to take down a grown up woman whom as a child randomly wrecked a town in the most powerful kingdom…. good luck with that
-
You guys also starting thinking Big Mom herself killed sister carmel without realizing? She never left to somewhere else.
-
She broke a Giant's bone accidentally at the age of 5. Pekoms is right. Capone is underestimating her too much.
-
Shiit imagine the power difference between monsters like Luffy, Ace and Sabo at the age of 5-6 years old and then Lilin haha she really is a monster!
-
So… Big Mom is.... actually well-meaning? She just has a horrific way of going about it?
Huh, go figure, yeah? -
It's hard to accept she's really human, and we know she has Conqueror's… cant wait to see more it cant be this simple, there has to be a twist ofcourse....
-

Huh, go figure, yeah?Big mom was originally well meaning, and her parent figures shielded her from the responsibility of her actions.
-
so.. Carmel just let her do whatever she liked and never scolded her/taught her the right way?
impressive -
It doesn't make any sense for Big Mom to be that strong and that big at five years of age. Hope Oda explains it.
-
uuuhmmm, now I want to eat semla.
-
Man, this flashback chapter was sweet. Linlin is an absolute monster.
We're off to a great start.
-

this is onepiece
was there an explanation on why whitebeard was that big compared to a normal human? -
this is onepiece
was there an explanation on why whitebeard was that big compared to a normal human?Being "tall" is one thing. Being 5 meters tall at age 5 and also being capable of casually destroying a town of giants is bullshit.

Interesting flashback, nice to see known faces among the giants. I'm beginning to think, though, that this flashback may be all we'll ever see of Elbaf. At this point in the present day story, there's no reason for the Straw Hats to land there other than Usopp's long-term dream (which he can well fulfill after One Piece ends).
You guys also starting thinking Big Mom herself killed sister carmel without realizing? She never left to somewhere else.
My thoughts exactly. Big Mom blacks out during her food rampages and it would make for the perfect explanation as to how she suddenly "vanished". Not to mention Mother Carmel has been portrayed as a very kind and forgiving figure, so it would be strange if she suddenly turned her back on Linlin and all the other children.
-
so.. Carmel just let her do whatever she liked and never scolded her/taught her the right way?
impressiveShe tried to teach empathy, but dodged teaching responsibility.
-
I am making a prediction…first person Linlin killed after taking Soul Soul fruit was the 'Mother',she was in her tantrum and hence never remembered it...
-
Okay wow….serious Big Mom hype...
Until now i may have severely underestimated her.....even as a young child she was a freaking monster.... -
She casually spanked a bear and killed him? and you say this is OK because "it's One Piece"?
LMAO. There's no way there isn't some thorough explanation for this.
-

Which brings a thought to mind. Who in the present day, gifted with a memory fruit, might have access to such repressed memories (assuming that they do exist somewhere in Linlin's inconscious)? This might make Pudding's part vastly different from what we have been expecting so far. Let's imagine for example that she somehow manages to unearth this memory and make Big Mom aware of it…Would that not be a great twist ?
-
If Big Mom really did eat Carmel, would that be the worst death in the series so far? Would be hard to top being eaten alive by a behemoth 5 year old.
Also, digging the Scandinavian look of Elbaf. Even more excited for the Elbaf arc now.
-
Man, I just love the atmosphere on Elbaf. And the 2 oldest warriors will no doubt be a well of information about the past once SH get there. If they survived this episode, that is.
-
Caramel has an utter shit parenting philosophy.
-
So we are going to see Loki in the Future.
Nice Chapter!
so much Details -

LMAO. There's no way there isn't some thorough explanation for this.
You're setting yourself up for dissapointment then, because while I can imagine we're gonna get some insight into her abnormal size, I don't think we'll find out why exactly she's this strong.
It's honestly better to just go along with it, and it's not like it's the first time kids excercised this kind of strength in OP, Zoro was lifting huge boulders for hundreds of times when he was just a kid, and he was normal sized. Kids from Punk Hazard were ripping off chains and the bigger ones even sent Luffy flying. Linlin's just naturally strong, no point in thinking too hard about it. -
Caramel has an utter shit parenting philosophy.
She just wasn't aware how bad things could get, I guess. Accidentaly causing damage due to being unaware of one's strength is one thing. We're talking about a 5 year old child. But going berserk like that and laying waste to a whole town and the people in it…

No there won't be an explanation as to why she's that strong. She's just much of a monster from birth that its why she grew up to be an emperor that no one wants to fuck with.

Considering she has dozens of kids, though… :ninja:

I feel like Caramel needs more exploring. Where did she come from, what's her story, did she have the same devil fruit as Dragon, you know, that kind of stuff.

Cabbage CoC confirmed

I can see a young Damask

Mask.
Law-styled dotted pants.
Sword.Is this Killer?
-
Unless killer is secretly over 60 years old. I doubt it.
-
It's pretty cool how Oda includes different cultural links from our world to One Piece. This time it hits pretty close to home because I'm from a country that celebrates the real world equivalent of the Semla-eating-party seen in this chapter. (There's no fasting in the modern day however. We just eat semla and laze about.)

Are you being serious?
The title is "Natural Born Destroyer"
You need real life explanation of a fictional manga? A manga about how there are minks and long armed people and random fruits that give you the power to create earthquakes and island enclosing cages made of string?
-
Could be that bm did kl carmel, but maybe after what BM did, carmel decided she failed as parent and just left because of that. Even if bm kld her, her body should still be there, so once she wakes up would still see her body down and asks why he doesn't move, but instead she was just asking why carmel left and we even see the panel with carmel leaving.

Even if they survived, they would be over 400 years old at that point.

Why dont we explain how Neptune impregnated his wife?
Or how Doflamingo is 3m tall?
Or One Piece existence?

You know, if Oda ever wrote a version of "The Farmer and the Viper", it would probably go somethig along this lines:
_One winter a Farmer found a Viper frozen and numb with cold, and out of pity picked it up and placed it in his bosom. Did I mention that the Farmer was a handsome badass who practitioned a deadly form of martial arts but decided to never use it as it bit with his socially progressive attitudes? The Viper was no sooner revived by the warmth than it turned upon its benefactor and inflicted a fatal bite upon him; Did I mention that this was due to a unique medical condition that the viper had causing a ferocious, but still sympathetic rage and not due to biological determinism or basic character flaws? And as the poor man lay dying, he cried, 'You trust your fangs into your father's body. You're such a stupid son. BUT I LOVE YOU, SON, EVEN IF YOU ARE A FOOL. .'" And the viper, deeply moved by the mans compassion, grew up to be a proud warrior of the sea who set his mind on creating the most diverse gang of murderers the world has ever seen.
The story also has loads of fanservice._

Elbaf didn't disappoint, the design of the village and the warriors are pretty good; especially Yarle and Yorle. I hope they came out alive from this.
-
Did someone other than Caesar tried to do the same giantification experiment 68 years ago?
-
Unless killer is secretly over 60 years old. I doubt it.
I mean, with Oda you can never know.
Right. I had forgotten about what's-his-face.
-
Anyone pointed out young Hajrudin?
Also dont know how Mangastream got Lamb out of 羊の家 , if it was lamb house the Japanese would look like 子羊の家。
Sheep is probably most likely reffering to gods people, very common term.

Chapter title already explain everything "Natural Born Destroyer"

If that is the logic, then is lamb 100%. "The lamb of god" is Jesus Christ.

The fact that Caesar is directly linked with Mom let me think about the idea that the whole giantification study (that it seems started from the direct imput of the same Big Mom) began from analyzing Linlin's DNA.
In this chapter is underlined that Mom is a regular human that was more than 5 m tall at the age of 5 and, maybe, this has been caused from a strange oddity of her growth hormone.
