So the volume 85 is exposing the strawhat and his allies. Can we expect Big Mom and her children + Capone + Germa 66 in the next volume cover?
Volume 85 Predictions/Discussion

I'm expecting Sanji and Pudding to be in the next cover, Pudding still didn't get featured in one despite the fact that we got a cover with the charlotte family.
-
The current chapters featuring the wedding will be in Vol. 86, right? Yeah, I'm really sure we'll get Pudding and Sanji on the giant wedding cake for that.
-
@uniaka:
There is something wierd, I can't find Sanji on the cover… and Pedro is blonde????
Pedro's always been blonde

To be fair the only pic of Pudding they would have there would spoil the revel of dark Pudding and here while obvious being the three eyed girl.
-
Good cover. I really dig the heavy emphasis on green and white, along with the transparent, purple neon logo.
Your wish has been granted.
Lol yep. Oda didn't disappoint.
I'll take a gander and say we'll see both Sanji and Pudding (third eye revealed) in their wedding outfits on the next volume cover.

The editor blurb for this cover on the official website might be helpful.
Editor says, "They share the same hope for Sanji…!" Probably Oda wanted to focus on rescue-Sanji members.

Jinbe wearing orange again, I knew it!!
-
If you believe in the color theory and get outta here if you do lol then carrot, pedro and jinbe are all slightly different colors than the current strawhats, light green, turqouise, and sunflower yellow or mac and cheese.

what are u talking about?
-
Helloooo new icon.
Was gonna go with Carrot but Reiju was too perfect.
-
Super Sentai at charge, huh? Nami and Carrot are awesome, toothless Luffy makes him look better.
@trio:
That thoothless Luffy reminds me Balckbeard in Volume 25.
Oh dude, the finest avatar since a while xD
-

The theory each strawhats has a color, which they do oda assigned them it but that these colors actually can help predict who will join. It's been "defeated" plenty of times but keeps coming back

Oh, is just an idea of mine, now that Jinbe is joining he will be assigned a color in some upcoming sbs volume, I theorized it would be brown, cause blue and orange are already taken, but brown comes from the mixing of those 2 colors and is missing.
probably Oda didn't find appealing enough to give his skin or outfit a brownie look and went for the 2 colors you need to get brown. I was a little doubtful that after Impel down/Marineford and Gyojin Island, Jinbe would wear orange again so this cover makes me real happy about it. -
Ohh, I like that cover. It's standard, but everyone is positioned well and posing quite nicely. Love the Brook visual and that tooth gap Luffy is there, plus that just so happens to be one of my fav shades of green.
-
That cover is perfect! Oda is such an accomplished artist.
-
I do like this one. It gets a bit busy in places, between Brook's soul effects, the translucency of the title, the patterned background and the map overlay. I think it'll look a little better when we get the digital one, sans map overlay.
Interesting that we're seeing Brook's Soul King attack/illusion/whatever that is on the cover, when that actual scene was in the last chapter of v84. Same way v83's cover depicted the Totland introduction spread that was the final pages of v82. Beyond, debatably, v59, this is the first time we've had volume covers so blatantly depicting scenes from other volumes. I don't think there's any deeper meaning to this, like it's evidence that scenes or volumes were shuffled after the covers were conceived, or anything like that. Probably just Oda wanted to draw those bits in colour but thought they would give away too much for their actual books.
-
Not a huge fan of this cover myself. I mean clearly Oda has put a decent amount of effort into it (like he always does) but something about it bugs me. Probably the hot pink One Piece logo clashing violently with the green background, and the rather generic composition.
That's some quality Reiju and Brook there though.
-
Honestly, I'm kinda okay with this cover. Not one of my favorites but it's passable.
-
For me this is one of the best covers ever
Pedro as an exception, only favourite characters of mine are on it. The colours are fresh, and when I say fresh I mean Splatoon-pink/green-fresh. Add to that the epic signature posing of everyone and I want this as a wallpaper now. -

I can agree about the hot pink logo clashing, but I love the putrid green coloring and I'm a huge sucker for badass group team-up drawings. It reminds me of the Volume 64 cover, which is the background I have set on my phone.
!

I see people alternatively liking the cover for it's striking group pose, and others who find it tired because Oda tends to make at least one of them per arc. I have to say I fall in the former camp, even if it's semi-formulaic it's still fun and exciting. It feels very One Piece and shounen in that sense, focusing on both the battle & friendship heavy nature of the story. Plus I just like seeing all the heroes together looking cool and confident. Also makes me want Carrot and Jinbe in the crew even more, ha.
-
I like the cover, but those botox lips on Reiju don't look good.

"Enhanced Human" - botox probably fits into this category
-
My, my, what a snazzy lookin' cover Oda's made this time. Love the vomit green (ew, that sounds weirdly gross and strange for a color name) for the background as seeing that one of my favorite colors is green. I didn't know how cool broken-toothed Luffy looked until now and Carrot's "You can do it!" pose looks nice. I expected Jinbei's new outfit to be pink, but the yellow kimono w/orange cape is even better than what I imagined. Plus, it contrasts well with his blue skin.
steals the pic:ninja:
-
Love the cover. But Reiju reminds me of Calista Flockhart in some way.
-
I enjoy the cover, especially the light green background.
Reiju and Carrot look amazing there. -
Actually, this is a pretty small nitpick, but wouldn't it have been better to have Brook on the opposite side of Pedro and Nami on the opposite side of Jimbei?
-

Brook and Jinbe are taller so it's only natural they are on top.
-
Straw Hats on one side, non-Straw Hats on the other, I'm guessing.
Due to her Sanji relation, Reiju is a child of two worlds.
-

I think you could put Nami in a position to look at tall as Brook, and her staff can compensate for height too. Just make Brook in more of a crouched pose like Pedro if necessary. And Chopper and Carrot are leveled in the front even though their heights distinctly differ.
Straw Hats on one side, non-Straw Hats on the other, I'm guessing.
Due to her Sanji relation, Reiju is a child of two worlds.
I thought the exact same thing for the first part. But I think Reiju is the middle moreso to displace her from how the Straw Hat rescue team is taking direct action while emphasizing her in the foreground as an emotionally supportive character for Sanji (everyone here is trying to save Sanji, after all) who is telling him to return to the crew. And Reiju and Luffy and both in the middle because Reiju believes in Luffy (and friends, but mainly him) as Sanji's true valuable family.
And Ghoul Brook is in the middle because it looks awesome.
-
Oh, look, Chopper still has the note he received in PH. So it still is a misery :ninja:
No, I guess this should be a mirror shard.
-
Things worth noting: the cover on the website appears to be an uncropped version of the final. Some of the top and bottom aren't meant to be seen, and only exist in case the printer cuts high or low, and some of the left edge will fold around with the dust jacket and not be seen on the front. Though small, the promo for the volume at the start of the current chapter shows how it will actually be cut.
It was the same thing with volume 84: here's the reveal image overlaid with the final cover from the digital rip of the volume. The digital cover is semitransparent so you can see the logos and text and images roughly match up, and it has a border to make it clear exactly where it ends and how much was cut.
!
Since the volume title and Oda's name are in about the same place on the volume 84 and 85 covers, we can basically overlay the final v84 on the reveal v85 the same way like so:
!
And crop the volume 85 cover to this, which looks a lot more like the small image of it in the new chapter, and as you would want from a final design, looks more balanced and pulls less to the right with all the empty space on the left side cut.
The difference isn't world-changing exactly, but I think it's worth noting, and worth keeping in mind when we assess these first reveal images for future volumes.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
actually, the cropped version is also in the promo at the top of this page aaaaaaand probably has been since the reveal. I should get some sleep…
-
Someone on 2ch has already got the volume. I think SBS info will be out soon.

Are we expecting it in the next few hours?
-
aah nice, something to entertain ourselves while we wait 'till next week for chap.
-
Just got my volume near my house!
Here is my summary for SBS.
Question: There are some characters who resemble Opera in chapter 845.
Oda: Big Mom is 68 years old now. She was (
has been) giving birth to babies every year about for 42 years.Opera was born as quintuplets.
Opera (5th son)
Counter (6th son)
Cadenza (7th son)
Cabaletta (8th son)
Gara (9th son)The highest record of Big Mom's multiple births is 10 (one more than nonuplets) children at one time. The children are now 18 years old.
Question: If Doflamingo took off his glasses, how would he look like?
Oda: Another glasses appear under the glasses instantly. (Oda draws the pic. lol)Question: You said Zoro doesn't eat ice in the previous SBS, but he ate it in chapter 701.
Oda: Maybe the person in chapter 701 is not Zoro..Birthday:
Inuarashi (October 11st)
Sora (July 9th)
Pandaman (February 29th)Question: Why does Big Mom call herself "Ore" (おれ) despite her being female? Oda: I've heard that both male and female sometimes called themselves "Ore" long ago. Even now, it is commonly used in some areas in Japan.
Question: Who is the fastest crewmate when they run 50-meter race?
Oda: It's hard to answer..
1 Brook
2 Sanji
3 Luffy
4 Chopper
5 Zoro
6 Usopp
7 Nami
8 Robin
9 Franky- Brook is fast since his body weight is light.
- Chopper would be ranked higher if he uses Walk Point. (another translation: Chopper is ranked high because he can use Walk Point.)
- Zoro would be ranked higher in the shorter distance race since he would not be off the track. lol
- Franky is ranked low since he is heavy.
Question: Why doesn't Sanji's eyes turn into hearts when he is talking with Reiju?
Oda: That's how it is with brothers/sisters, right?
I used to get in numerous fights with my elder sister when I was a kid.
It would be weird if Sanji turned his eyes into hearts to talk with Reiju.-
The girl in chapter 651 is the same person as Pudding.
-
Mink Tribe can eat birds, reptiles and amphibians except animals with hair.
Question: How can I become an editor in Jump? Did editors graduate from famous colleges?
Oda: I can feel your seriousness. It's true that Shueisha has many highly educated editors, but most of them are perverts.
You have a possibility to enter Shueisha if you graduate from a four‐year college.
I hope you will become ONE PIECE editor without becoming a pervert in the future.Question: The 2nd division commander before Ace is me.
Oda: You're kidding!!Question: Where should I display my Nami character figure?
Oda: Who knows!! -
Thanks Sandman !
-
I feel outraged that there are people who actually thought Sanji was a sis-con(That's the word for it, right?).
-
Did we REALLY get a question about why Sanji isn't attracted to Reiju :getlost:
-
Thank you Sandman.
68 is way younger than I expected, I thought Big Mom would be in at least her 80s.
-
I thought she'd be over 100.
-
And BM's abnormal number of children is kinda of explained.
But I wonder how old is Anana and think that BM might had her when she was in her early 60s.
-
Question: If Doflamingo took off his glasses, how would he look like?
Oda: Another glasses appear under the glasses instantly. (Oda draws the pic. lol)Oh my god. lol This was the first image that popped into my head.
I'm willing to pay anyone a large sum of money to make a Doffy version.
-
MOM IS 68!?
AND HER ELDEST WOULD BE ONLY 42!?!?!?
Oh Oda…oooooh Oda....
Brulee, Daifuku, Compote and Perospero are suddenly ridiculously over-aged in design.
Either he ran into an issue with continuity or something else because that is just plain absurd
-
They certainly did not hit the genetic jackpot there.
-
Teach wasn't so different from his current look when he was sixteen.
-

It depends on how old her youngest child is - if it's, say, Anana, the older kids would be closer to their 50's and their designs wouldn't be too out there.
-

Oh, perhaps my translation was inaccurate.
The raw sentence says, "ビッグマムは現在68歳で、約42年間、毎年子供を産み続けましたが、"
It might be a good idea to translate "She was (hasbeen) giving birth to babies every year about for 42 years."グレッグさんの誤解を招くような下手っぴ翻訳をしてしまって、申し訳ございませんでしたm(_ _)m
確かに"every year"って訳し忘れてました。ご指摘ありがとうございます!
